She stumbled in, laughing with some guy like she didn’t have a care in the world. Her hand fumbled with the light switch, and the second the room lit up, her eyes landed on me.

“Christ!” she gasped, nearly tripping backward. Her smile vanished like a switch had been flipped. “What are you doing here?”

“Hello, Bianca,” I said calmly, raising my gun and pointing it straight at her.

She froze, eyes wide, chest rising and falling. Her friend took a step toward her—brave, or stupid, maybe both.

I tilted the gun toward him. “Now,” I said slowly, “you’re going to leave and go back to your miserable life if you know what’s best for you.”

He hesitated. Idiot.

“Don’t make me say it again.”

His mouth opened. Nothing came out. Then, finally, he nodded quickly and scrambled out the door without a word. The door slammed behind him, and the silence was heavy.

Bianca’s shoulders dropped. Disappointment flashed across her face, like she’d hoped he’d stay. Cute…

Marco The last time I had walked down the aisle of the cathedral had been on my wedding day. Looking back now, it felt like eons ago, even though it had only been months. Then, I was smartly dressed in an expensive black tux with matching shiny shoes. I may have been the happiest that day. I was getting married to the woman of my dreams. She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. I didn’t have a care in the world. Everyone was here—Nonna was at the front pew grinning from ear to ear. Even my men, who were usually always on guard, were relaxed that day. Nothing could go wrong, they had thought to themselves. Today I wore black. No, it wasn’t a tux. It was the first suit I laid hands on as I opened the wardrobe. My shoes weren’t shiny, not like they were on my wedding day. And Nonna wasn’t in the front cheering me on, because I was following her casket to the front of the church. I stood in the front with Francesco on one side and Emilio on the other. W

ArabellaIt took every last bit of restraint I had in me not to go with him to the bathroom, but it wasn’t strong enough, because I was waiting behind the door when he got out.I was staring at his hard chest; droplets of water trickled down. I longed to trace a pattern with my fingers down to the V indent teasing me from underneath that towel that was hung loosely around his waist. I could see his rising bulge. And when I looked up at him, he was ogling me unashamedly. His eyes took in the white lace lingerie I had on, with a garter and lace stockings. My cheeks flamed up in embarrassment. And all the confidence with which I had put on the outfit and fixed my hair and makeup was gone out of the window.“I—I s-saw the outfit in the drawers, and I thought—”He grabbed me by the arm and pulled me towards him, his lips capturing mine in a passionate kiss. I felt small in his large, powerful arms. My breasts were squished against his chest. He picked me up like I weighed nothing, so I was

SixShe was waiting at the doorstep when I arrived at the house. Her eyes lit up when she saw me.“Hey,” she sighed in relief.I hated leaving her alone, but most of all, I hated seeing her worry. I could only imagine the thoughts running through her head whenever I was away, knowing I might never come back.At first, I didn’t want to bring it up, but I did one night. Things were going great now, but it could all go to shit, too. She knew who to call if I didn’t come back. She had access to all my accounts. She would be safe, I made sure of it. She didn’t like the possibility, so every night when I had to leave, she would wait for me.“My love,” I whispered, pulling her in for a long embrace. She relaxed in my arms and wrapped her hands around my neck. “It’s always hard when you leave.”“I know,” I whispered in her ear. “I know. It’ll all be over soon.”I slipped a hand around her waist, pulling her close. She was standing on her tiptoes at this point. Then I picked her up so she was

BiancaThe tension in Marco’s study was suffocating since he got back from that event. Heck, the whole house was, and that was why I always made myself scarce. Today, however, he had called for a meeting of the family.Although I didn’t think I was really a part of it, I sat silently in the corner, legs crossed, back straight, trying not to flinch every time one of them raised their voice. Marco was sitting behind his desk, his shoulders stiff, his face contorted in anger. He was barely in control.Francesco was pacing, his hands slicing through the air as he tried to make his point again and again, like he was talking to a brick wall. “We can’t do this right now,” he snapped, spinning to face Marco. “In the last weeks alone, we’ve lost eight of our men. Eight. Franco and Nonna—”His voice cracked, just for a second. “We’re bleeding out and you want to throw a funeral like nothing’s happening?”Marco’s jaw clenched so tight I could hear the grind of his teeth. “It’s not about the fune

MarcoFrancesco escorted a woman across the marble steps toward me. She was wearing a lush red dress that clung to her like a second skin. Her heels clicked with confidence, hips swaying like she knew what I wanted.Long dark hair, porcelain skin, light blue eyes—not as intense as hers, but the resemblance was enough to twist something in my gut.Francesco stopped in front of me, a scowl on his face. “She looks like her,” he muttered.“Don’t,” I said flatly, already lighting a cigarette. He gave a quiet snort. “Right. You’re working on it.”“I am.”“Yeah, sure,” he muttered under his breath.I didn’t think he believed me, and usually, I’d have taken the time to convince him, but I wasn’t feeling up to it. We had still not recovered our losses when the Chellinis struck.Six had been quiet for days, which was unlike him, but that only heightened my anxiety—the wait, not knowing who was next. It didn’t help that I had this high society function that I couldn’t miss, even though the last
