Mag-log inAaron’s POV
I should’ve stayed in my room. That thought hit me halfway down the hallway, just before Lucian’s office door came into view. Too late now. The door was already open. He was inside, standing by the window, back to me, sleeves rolled up, phone in his hand. Calm. Controlled. Like he didn’t just spend the morning dismantling me piece by piece without raising his voice. I stepped in anyway. “Close the door.” I did. The click echoed louder than it should have. He didn’t turn immediately. Just finished whatever he was reading, set the phone down, then finally looked at me. And just like that—everything from last night came rushing back again. Talk, he said. I let out a breath, You didn’t answer me. His brow lifted slightly, You didn’t give me the chance. I stepped closer, frustration building fast now. “I said something I’ve been holding in for thirteen years, Lucian. Thirteen. And your response is to drag me to the gym, ignore me for an hour, and act like—” “Like what?” he cut in, voice calm. “Like it didn’t matter?” “Yes.” He studied me for a second. Then— His fist landed. Hard. I didn’t see it coming. My head snapped to the side, body stumbling back as pain exploded across my jaw. I hit the edge of the table, barely catching myself. I touched my lip slowly. Blood. I looked back at him. Confused first. Then hurt. Then angry. “What the hell was that?” My voice came out rough. Lucian didn’t move. Didn’t step forward. Didn’t check me, Don’t say that shit to me again, he said coldly. I blinked. what? I stepped forward this time. Not backing down. i...i don't understand..... the signs?” I demanded. “The way you act? The way you look at me? The way you—” “Stop.” I froze. Lucian’s eyes are hard now. No softness, “You’re Kael’s best friend,” he said. “That’s it. That’s all you’ll ever be.” My chest tightened. “…What?” “I’m not like you,” he added, voice flat. “I’m not a fag. And I’m never going to have anything to do with you like that.” That— that hit deeper than the punch. Everything in me just… paused. But—my voice cracked, you— you gave me signs—i.. Lucian let out a short breath. Almost like a laugh “Yeah,” he said. “I did.” My chest rose sharply. “So what was that?” He tilted his head slightly, Fun. “You had a crush on me,” he continued, It was obvious, I played along. That’s it.” I just stared at him. Like I got hit again. Harder this time. “You’re lying,” I said quietly. “I’m not.” “You’re lying,” I repeated, weaker now. He shrugged. “Believe whatever helps you sleep.” My hands clenched at my sides. “You don’t mean that,” I said, but there was no fight left in it now. “You don’t just do all that for fun—” “I do,” he cut in. “And the protection?” I looked up. Hope, Still stupidly there. “That’s for my brother,” he said. “You matter to Kael. So I keep you alive. That’s it.” Something inside me broke. “…Right,” I said finally. He didn’t respond. Didn’t move. Didn’t try to stop me. I nodded once, Then I turned and walked out. And behind me— Lucian didn’t call my name. --- The hallway felt longer than it was. Aaron didn’t know how he made it through it. His legs just moved, one step after the other, no thoughts, no direction, just distance. Voices passed him. Someone said his name, but he didn’t answer. Didn’t even slow down. Because if he did, if he gave himself even a second to feel it, he knew it would hit, and he wasn’t ready for that. He reached his room without remembering the walk. Closed the door. Locked it. And just stood there for a second like his body hadn’t caught up with what had just happened. Then his knees gave out. He slid down against the door, the impact knocking the air out of him as he sat there, breathing unevenly, staring at nothing. Just this tight pressure in his chest like something was trapped there, clawing, pushing, trying to break free and failing. His hand came up to his mouth like he could hold it in. But a broken sound slipped out anyway. “Fun,” he repeated under his breath. The word felt wrong. Like it didn’t belong in his mouth anymore. A shaky laugh followed, cracking halfway through. “Thirteen years…” he whispered. His head fell back against the door, eyes unfocused. Every memory felt different now. Every look, every touch, every moment he thought meant something had shifted. His fingers curled into his shirt over his chest like he could rip it out. Like that would fix it. It didn’t. It only made it worse. “I’m an idiot,” he said quietly. Barely a sound. And still — no tears. That was the worst part. Because this wasn’t something he could cry out and move on from. And for the first time in a long time, Aaron felt it clearly. Not anger. Not confusion. Just… alone. --- Back in the office, Lucian hadn’t moved. Not when the door closed. Not after. He stood exactly where Aaron left him, silent, still. Then slowly, he let out a breath and dragged a hand down his face like he was trying to wipe something off that wouldn’t go away. “Fuck” he muttered. His jaw tightened. His eyes dropped to the floor for a second before he straightened, picking up his phone like nothing had happened. Like he hadn’t just broken something that couldn’t be undone.Kael was quiet for a moment not because he did not have an answer, he had not expected that question Out of everything Vera could have asked, he had expected questions about her parents, about leaving, about staying, maybe even about him Not Lina Vera folded her arms "Well?" Kael looked at her properly you have been carrying that around all day?" You did not answer me A small breath escaped him Kael rested his forearms against the balcony railing before looking out toward the dark gardens below When my father rescued me from the organization, with some of the other children, His voice remained calm "Some younger, Some older, Some with nowhere to go after everything was over The evening breeze moved through the balcony Neither of them looked away My father opened a shelter That surprised her Kael glanced toward her briefly It started small He shrugged, then it became bigger For them? Yes What happened to the children after? They stayed as long as th
The morning did not feel different in any dramatic way, nothing in the house announced that anything had changed, but Vera felt it the moment she opened her eyes because nobody came rushing in to check on her, nobody called her name from the hallway, nobody tried to fill the silence the way they usually did, and for a few seconds she just lay there staring at the ceiling wondering if this was what it meant when people said space could feel heavier than noise. When she finally stepped out, the house was already awake. She heard movement before she saw anyone, footsteps down the corridor, the faint sound of dishes somewhere far away, a chair dragging lightly across the floor, and when she reached the dining area she noticed immediately that everyone was there but nobody was doing too much. Marco sat in his usual place, Elena was already pouring tea she did not really need to pour, Adrian was reading something without really reading it, Xavier was staring at Vera like he had been waitin
The room downstairs wasn’t loud when Vera and Kael walked in, but it wasn’t quiet either. It had that strange kind of silence that only happens when people are pretending they’re not waiting for something. Marco was seated like he had been there for a while longer than necessary, Elena had her hands folded neatly in her lap but her eyes kept drifting to Vera, Adrian stood near the window like he was trying to make himself invisible on purpose, and Xavier—of course—looked like he was the only one who didn’t understand the seriousness of the atmosphere, even though he definitely did. Kael released Vera’s hand first, enough to remind her they were no longer in that space where everything felt easy She didn’t look at him immediately, that alone was already enough to make Marco notice Marco leaned slightly forward. “Vera please sit" Vera sat first. Kael stayed standing for a second longer than necessary before taking the seat beside her, not too close, not too far either Elena

Kael barely slept. Most of the night was spent inside his office staring at reports he never actually read. Every time he closed his eyes, he saw Vera standing at the entrance in Elena’s arms while Marco looked like a man surviving resurrection For years, Kael had accepted two things as facts Aria was dead And nothing stolen by the organization ever came back whole. Now suddenly both facts were wrong A quiet knock came against the office door before Lucian walked in without waiting for permission Kael didn’t look up immediately Silence settled briefly before Lucian glanced toward the window How’s she handling it? Kael leaned back slowly. “Better than I expected.” That bad? Kael laughed once without humor. She found out her entire life was built on lies, discovered her dead family is alive, reunited with them and somehow still hasn’t murdered Aaron Lucian nodded thoughtfully. “Impressive honestly" Kael rubbed a hand over his face before speaking quieter
Vera’s POV The room still felt unreal. Heavy with years of grief, shock, relief and emotions nobody in this house fully knew how to handle yet. My mother still held my hand tightly on the couch like letting go would somehow make me disappear again. My father sat beside her silently, watching me with the kind of expression that made my chest ache every time I looked at him too long. Like he was still convincing himself I existed. Adrian stayed quieter than everyone else, but I caught him staring sometimes too. Small glances. Careful ones. Like he was trying to memorize every detail before reality changed its mind again. Xavier was gone upstairs with Kael and Lucian. Honestly? That somehow made the entire house feel incomplete. Aaron leaned back against the armchair before looking between all of us again. “So… I feel like nobody appreciates how insane this situation actually is.” Lina looked exhausted already. “Aaron.” “No seriously,” he continued. Imagine explaining this to
Vera and Lina barely stirred in the dim corner of the cold room, the smell of blood and sweat hanging thick in the air. Pain still throbbed through Vera’s body, every bruise a reminder of last night’s terror, yet exhaustion weighed heavier than agony. Lina’s shallow breaths were the only sound, unt
Vera woke up to pain before she woke up to light. Her wrists burned. Not rope—something thinner, tighter. It bit into skin with every small movement, deliberate, engineered. Her ankles were the same. Suspended just enough that her toes brushed the floor but never rested. Enough to remind her she wa
The room smelled of dust and faint coffee. Vera’s hands shook as she adjusted her shoes. Lina was already moving, calm but precise, scanning exits, counting silently. Always counting.“Ready?” Vera whispered, voice tight.“Always,” Lina replied, eyes sharp, unwavering. They stepped into the hallway
The basement still felt heavy, the air thick with unspoken words. Aaron’s earlier confession churned in my mind like fire over ice, leaving an ache I couldn’t ignore. He’d told me what he could—but I knew the one thing he hadn’t yet. The moment we stepped back into the main floor, the hesitation cl
