Gerald was well drunk by the time Scarlett came to visit. She had asked from the butler about him and he'd relayed everything to her. She was surprised to hear how badly Gerald was taking everything but was glad to know Serena was no longer in the mansion. No one would be able to disturb her now. " What did you say?" Gerald asked, His low voice cutting through the silence of the room. John took a deep breath and continued with his explanation. He told Gerald that the cigarette had a toxic poison which once ingested, leads to chronic coughing and eventually, death. Gerald listened to his explanation, growing more confused. " So, you're telling me, Thomas didn't die of natural causes but someone tried to kill him?" He asked and john nodded. Burrowing his brows, he thought about it for a while. A lot of things didn't make sense to him. Why would someone want to kill Thomas and why? Who was it? He really needs to pay that police station another visit. " Okay, I've heard you. You're dismissed." Gerald muttered with a wave of his hand. John bowed and left. Straightening on seat, he palmed his throbbing head. A lot of things didn't make sense to him, unfortunately he wasn't in the mood to think about anything. Tomorrow was another day.

Scarlett visited again and this time Gerald was in a much better shape, although Serena hadn't yet returned. That, more than anything made her happy. It means her plan today would go without a hitch. She saw him in his office, working but he looked gloomy as ever. Only for a little while, she thought to herself. " I told you not see me anymore." Gerald muttered the moment she walked in. Scarlett awoke from her slumber, groaning as she stirred. She blinked her eyes open, the blurriness fading away. Her lips twitched but didn't quite form a smile as she remembered the night before. Sure, she had gotten what she wanted but it was at the expense of her dignity. She just hopes it will all be worth it. It had to be. She rose from the bed, her eyes darting around the large, empty room. Gerald was nowhere to be found. Her heart broke at the thought but then, what was she expecting? She grimaced as she stepped out of the bed, her sore muscles reminding her of the night she desperately wanted to forget right now. Wrapping a towel around herself, she proceeded to the bathroom to have a bath. She would find Gerald immediately after. Pacing around in the hallway, Serena bit her lips worriedly. The moment Sarah fainted, she had immediately called the doctor and they were in the room with her at the moment. Gerald walked deeper into the room, feeling unnaturally tense for no reason. It didn't sit right with him to be seeing his mom this way. " So you finally come to see me after days of staying away?" Serena arrived at the Wilson's residence with her heart in her throat. After making sure Sarah was asleep, she had gotten dressed and had taken a carriage here. Staring out the window as the carriage neared the mansion, memories of her in this place filled her head. She sat back in the carriage, picking the hem of her dress. The carriage soon slowed to a stop and she stepped out of it. The cold air hit her face and she shivered. She clenched her fists, determined. She needed to see Gerald, there was no turning back now. " I'll be back." She said to the carriage driver before walking in. Her steps steady, she made sure none of the fear she was feeling made it to her face. Once inside, the maids recognized and greeted her with a bow of their heads and she acknowledged them with one of hers. Her eyes looked for and found Lana, her personal maid beckoning for her. Serena cried on the way back to the mansion. Everything hurts, Seeing Scarlett only made the hurt worse. She admitted to herself she didn't want to leave.
