Chapter 57: CORD

Logan got between the two of us and whispered in my ear. "Not like this brother, you don't wanna do this now." He eased her away from me and passed her off to Gaby and Dani, which made me see red. He stepped back with his hands up. Enough to give me my space, but still kept himself between me and her. I moved, he moved.

I put my hand in his chest to push him back as the blood rushed in my ears. "Cord, work with me here." He stopped pushing, and the fucker knew just the right tone to take to get me out of the zone I was heading into. I've never really heard it off the field though. That's how I knew I was moving into dangerous fucking territory. I looked in his eyes and saw it. Fuck!

"I need a minute brother." He relaxed when he realized I wasn't going after her. I just needed to step away for a minute because I had become the danger. That shit didn't even loosen up now that I knew she was safe. I still wanted to ring her fucking neck.
