"Good, I'll talk to her myself and let her know what's going on but we don't want her any more involved than she has to be for her own safety. You cool, we straight?"

"Yeah I'm good, but the girls are a little spooked. Logan and Connor really let them have it and I think they think you were gonna really hurt her."

"Nah, her pride maybe a little, but I will never harm your sister, not ever." The boy didn't have to know what kind of hell I was about to rain down on her ass.

Back inside Vicky gave me a covered dish. "This is for Susie, yours is on the table."

"She's fine." That's all I said as I took the dish from her and put it back. I didn't touch the meal she'd set out for me either. I'd just come here to get away from my house and my thoughts for a minute.
