CHAPTER 6 The Confrontation

The Next Morning

Aster woke up with a spinning head and an unexplainable headache. She couldn’t remember anything from last night.

“Ugh! A freaking hangover! I swear I’ll never drink alcohol again!” she mumbled.

She immediately got out of bed to take a bath when she realized she was wearing her pajamas. Who changed my clothes last night? she wondered.

Before she could think more about it, a call from the hospital diverted her attention. It was her secretary, reminding her about an event she needed to attend that day.

It was the welcoming ceremony for the new president of the hospital. All department heads were required to attend and welcome the new leader. After Merca resigned as president of the Landon Company years ago, the hospital’s presidency had remained vacant—until now.

“So, who’s the new boss?” Aster sighed. She thought maybe one of Carl’s siblings had taken over. She’d met them once during the wedding when Merca introduced them to her.

Carizza, the same age as her, was Vanessa Bastre’s best friend and a typical socialite. She disapproved of Aster and clearly didn’t want her as Carl’s wife—the classic evil sister-in-law.

Chassie, on the other hand, was the complete opposite: friendly and genuine. Her motto was, “If Carl loves her, then I accept her wholeheartedly.”

Then there was Cane—a scientist, very studious and introverted. He didn’t care about anything outside his laboratory.

The event had already started when Aster arrived.

“You're late—come here. Luckily it just started,” said Dane, offering her the seat beside him.

“I’m sorry. Thank you,” she replied quickly.

The emcee began with a brief history of the hospital and its many awards before introducing the new president.

Everyone was in awe—especially Aster—when the emcee announced the name: Carl Landon.

“What the hell?” she murmured, struggling to regain her composure.

“So, your husband didn’t tell you?” Dane asked, having overheard her.

“Ah... he just arrived this morning. We haven’t had a chance to talk yet,” she said, trying to hide the truth that they hadn’t spoken in weeks. Even when Carl came home, he would head straight to the study and leave early in the morning before she woke up.

“Oh really?” Dane looked puzzled. He clearly remembered Carl arriving at the bar last night to pick her up.

“You don’t remember what happened last night, do you?” he added, but before Aster could respond, Carl’s bodyguards approached and requested her to move up front and sit beside her husband.

Aster felt uneasy sitting next to Carl, but she tried to act normal to avoid suspicion.

The event ended with a Q&A session for the new president. The last question was, “Why did you take interest in the hospital?”

Carl responded:

“Honestly, I initially asked Cane to manage the hospital, but he refused. At first, I had no interest in it either. But, as most of you know, my wife works here as a doctor,” he said, glancing at Aster, making her blush and turn away. “I wanted to be her boss so that when I tell her to take a leave and be with me, I could have her 24/7. Some husbands here may understand the burden of having a wife who’s a doctor. They always prioritize saving lives over everything else—and for that, I consider them heroes in white coats. I assure you, I will turn this hospital into the best in the world. Thank you.”

“By the way,” he added, “starting tomorrow, my wife will only be working as a visiting doctor. Turnover and endorsements will be handled respectfully. Thank you all for coming.”

Aster turned to Carl with disbelief written all over her face, silently demanding an explanation.

“We’ll talk later,” he said calmly.

The crowd applauded, and the event came to a close.

Aster was escorted to the car and driven home, while Carl stopped by the company to sign some documents.

At home, Aster sat in the living room, trying to calm herself. She was seething with frustration.

“No. He cannot do this to me,” she thought, clenching her fists.

At 11 PM, Carl arrived.

“Carl, can we talk?” she asked in a trembling voice. She could smell a faint scent of alcohol on him.

“Speak,” he replied coldly.

“You can’t do this to me. Why would you demote me? You know how much I love my job. It’s my happiness!”

“Re-read our agreement and find the rules you broke. Then tell me tomorrow morning. I’m tired. I’ll be in my room,” Carl said, turning to walk toward the study.

But Aster ran to stop him, blocking the door with her body.

"No! this is insane i haven't done anything that can ruin our agreement, I work hard to have my position even if you didn't promote me i will still had that position, i should have slept with other people to gain that position not you, i hate it"

Aster already burst her anger toward Carl and speaking without thinking.

Carl in the spirit of alcohol was affected by what Aster said, his face turns gloomy and He grabbed her shoulders, pulling her roughly against him and kissed her lips in a demanding way that roused more anger than anything else.

Aster was stunned and tried to struggle and fight but all her efforts was useless, until she stops and give in to Carl kissing back hoping that he will stop if she kept behave but Carl was consumed by lust and arousal at the moment his hands becomes adventurous and unzip the dress of Aster, he cannot control his self Asters lips is so addicting her body is so perfect .

Aster cannot do anything even if she try to fight back her strength is nothing compared to him this moment but the wierdest thing is she was actually enjoying it, she wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him back making him so hard down there, Carl then impatiently remove all her clothes and his then he lift her towards the bed, he gently lay her down and kissed her lips then slowly moves to her neck that makes her moan in pleasure, from the neck.

He licks it towards her left breasts and sucks it while his hand is playfully playing the other nipple.

This makes Aster moan louder, The two were consumed by pleasure at the moment. Carl's kissed then travelled down between the legs, Her moans grow in strength from low whimpers of joy to shouts of ecstasy.

He knew already what her body wants and he entered slowly and carefully then he moves in and out making her reach her peak. She was calling to him, inviting him, murmuring in his ear, both of them reach their limits and fell asleep.

The two shared each other not once but five times that night until they were exhausted.

Every inch of him reeked of battle—his boots smeared with dust from the Council’s temple, his eyes still burning with the aftermath of unleashed fury.Carl was already waiting. He stood at the top of the staircase, arms crossed, his expression stone-cold. Maika appeared behind him a second later, her dark eyes sharpening as they fell on her son."You came back," Carl said, voice low but trembling with barely restrained anger. "You damn fool."Maika's heels clicked against the marble as she descended. "Where is Alaric?" she asked coldly. "And where have you taken Seraphine?"Caveen removed his cloak, tossed it over a chair, and met their eyes without flinching."They're safe. At the sanctuary."Carl didn’t wait another heartbeat. In two long strides, he was before his son, grabbing him by the collar and slamming him into the nearest pillar."Do you even understand what you've done?!" Carl shoute

Her scream had torn through reality itself, and now the very air crackled with power. She floated, feet no longer touching the ground. Her eyes, once soft and confused, now gleamed with ancient awareness. Elira’s dormant blood—the blood sealed for two decades—had begun to awaken.
