Laila POV

Shit!!!

How could I forget that he was always lurking around Fiona?

He beamed at me, his smile lecherous and sickening and then he threw me on the floor.

I knew that I couldn't beg because of this perverted monster, pleading excitedly and making him go feral.

I looked around trying to find something to use to escape but I couldn't spot anything.

He seemed to have seen my movements as she spoke. “Thinking of escaping? Dream on. You hurt my mistress so you deserve to die just like your child.” He then licked his lips slowly. “Don't worry, I won't make it as quick as when I killed your child. It'll be slow and torturous and each moment will make you wish for death.”

Hearing that his hand killed my child, rage, hatred and heartaches filled me and I screamed with agony as I glared at him, tears beginning to stream down my face.

He didn't take my actions to be anything as he smirked and then raised his hand to strike down at me.

Before he could touch me though, he froze, his eyes widening comically.

He looked down at his chest and my gaze followed only for horror to fill me when I saw that right in the center was a gaping hole where his heart was meant to be.

Still unable to believe he was killed like that, Donovan collapsed to the flood, bleeding out, with his eyes wide open in shock.

I stared at his corpse and then looked back up to where he had been standing.

I flinched back in shock when I saw that someone was standing there.

A ruggedly handsome man with silver hair was standing there, his head tilted to the side in confusion.

My eyes widened when I noted that the man's hand was holding out Donovan's already stale heart which was coated and dripping with blood.

I gulped and froze, unsure what the hell was happening.

A look of enlightenment crossed the stranger's eyes and he suddenly inched closer to me before squatting, making our eyes level.

“Mate.” He declared, his voice firm and without any uncertainty.

I stared at him in confusion at first unable to understand why he was suddenly calling me mate but I soon gaped at him when I felt it.

The empty and hollow feeling from when Damien rejected me was gone. Now, it was replaced with a thrumming fire and I could almost feel the familiar yet unfamiliar pull towards this stranger.

This man who had appeared so suddenly and brutally killed Donovan in just a strike was my mate.

“Y..y..you.. you” I was unable to piece together a sentence as I kept stuttering.

“Cute.” He said, his lips curving into a blinding smile while my mind went haywire.

What the hell was happening?

Just then, the pitter patter of numerous feets echoed in the room and my heart dropped to my feet as I noted that Damien and Fiona had caught up and they had also brought a few guards along with them.

Shit! I should have run. How can I escape now?

“That's her! Take her and kill her before she runs again.” Fiona suddenly shouted, her shrill voice echoing in the room.

I winced.

I didn't notice that the stranger's face had hardened visibly as I was still thinking of a way to escape. It was only when he rose to his full height that I paid attention to him.

He glared at Fiona with a gaze that spoke volumes of how he wanted to kill her.

“You want to touch my mate? I would like to see with which guts you would be able to.” He declared sneering and if it were in another scenario, I would have felt warm at being protected but after everything I couldn't bring myself to feel anything especially when I noted that Damien and Fiona had the advantage in numbers.

“Who the hell do you think you are? Guards, kill him too.” Fiona ordered.

“Kill me?” The stranger scoffed and then he released his aura.

It was suffocating and immediately made me want to kneel and submit but it was obviously not directed at me which showed how powerful it was.

Damien's eyes widened. “L..ly…ly..ly” he kept stuttering while shivering in fear, unable to piece together a single word.

My brows furrowed as I looked at the stranger in confusion.

For the normally cool and collected Damien to be this flustered, who was this man?

“Lycan Kieran.” Damien finally spat out and then he immediately fell to his knees not forgetting to drag Fiona too.

My mind immediately blanked out.

Lycan Kieran? Lycan? As in the supreme ruler of all werewolves? The one who is above all Alphas?

My eyes widened dramatically.

What the fuck was going on?

  • SECOND Chance MATE TO The LYCAN : Who dares Touch my LUNA   chapter 11

Laila's POVWhat was I doing wrong? My eyes burned from exhaustion. I had been up all night, rocking, shushing, and nursing my baby trying to make him stop waling. It wasn't hard to question your sanity when everything you did didn't work. His little mouth latched on my left tit sucking tentatively. This was the time I got the opportunity to relax. He must have tired himself out after all that crying but my moment of peace was disturbed when I heard a click. Then another and I watched the door push open.I braced myself for the silver-haired woman again, but it wasn’t her.It was Kieran.I froze, my breath catching in my throat. Immediately, instinctively, I turned my body away from him, shielding my bare chest and the baby who still whimpered against me. My cheeks burned with embarrassment.“Please leave,” I hissed. “I need privacy.”He didn't respond but I could hear his footsteps coming closer in my direction.“I have something to speak with you about,” he said.I clenched my jaw.

  • SECOND Chance MATE TO The LYCAN : Who dares Touch my LUNA   chapter 10

Laila’s POVMy breathing was heavy as I ran with everything I had in me. My lungs burned, my legs screamed, but I didn’t dare slow down. This might be my only chance to escape that madman. I held my baby tight enough not to drop him, but loose enough not to strangle him. I darted blindly through the massive halls.I wasn’t thinking, only running looking for any sign of the exit.I didn’t know where the palace was located but I had the belief if I just kept moving, if I just kept going, maybe I’d find my way back to Damien’s pack. Like light at the end of the tunnel, I saw double doors ahead, my chest tightened with relief. The exhaustion I felt melting away as I threw myself forward, pushing against the heavy frame, and they creaked open just wide enough to slip through. On the other side was a staircase. My stomach dropped. The staircase spiraled upward in grand, sweeping arcs, leading higher into the palace. This wasn’t the exit, but it was open, and I didn’t have time to search f

  • SECOND Chance MATE TO The LYCAN : Who dares Touch my LUNA   chapter 9

Kieran’s POVThe moon goddess didn’t hold back on the drama when she created these creatures. There was always a problem with them, but I must admit I had never met one this indecisive and infuriating.Every word she said affected me in ways I hadn’t imagined possible. What type of woman would have gold in the palm of her hand and throw it away for plastic? There wasn’t a she-wolf breathing who wouldn’t pray for an opportunity like this. She wasn’t special, she was just stubborn as hell.Everyone had a price. I just had difficulty figuring out what hers is.Maybe she was the type who wanted a ring to justify her being with me. She’d be sorely mistaken if she believed I would be obliged to a pretentious doom disguised as marriage.“I reject your rejection, Laila Reed,” I sneered while trying to keep my wolf in check. She didn’t know how dangerously close she was to bringing the beast out of me.For the sake of her child, who had done nothing to me, I had to make her see reason. Her li

  • SECOND Chance MATE TO The LYCAN : Who dares Touch my LUNA   chapter 8

Laila's POV I wasn’t one to believe in miracles but how could I ignore what was before me?My lips trembled as I whispered, “No… this doesn’t make sense.” My brain refused to accept it. With hesitant fingers, I pulled down the blanket, and the mark on his neck stole the breath from my lungs.Where they had strangled him to death. My arms tightened protectively around him, and a flood of emotions surged through me, ones I couldn’t even begin to describe. “He was… dead,” I choked out. “I… I know what I saw. I know what I held. His body was cold. I didn’t make a mistake… Or maybe I did.“You healed him,” Kieran uttered, startling me. For a moment I forgot he was in the room. I whipped my head toward him, my hair sticking to my damp face. “That’s impossible,” I whispered, shaking my head furiously. “I have no powers. I’ve never had powers. I couldn’t…” My voice dissolved into a sob.“I saw it, Laila. I watched it happen. Before you passed out you breathed life into him. Right before I

  • SECOND Chance MATE TO The LYCAN : Who dares Touch my LUNA   chapter 7

Laila's POV “I am not your property.” The words ripped from my throat before I could stop them. I gulped hard immediately regretting them. This was Lycan Kieran, the news and photos I’d seen of him didn't do justice to the man standing in front of me.I was at his mercy now and he could get rid of me if he deemed me unworthy to stay alive. It was hard to breathe his dark eyes fixed on me, unreadable yet seething with an intensity that made my stomach knot. His lips curved into something that wasn’t quite a smile.“You are mine,” he practically commanded. “You’re my mate, Laila. That makes you mine.”Gulping down the bile on my throat, I managed to say, “No,” I whispered, shaking my head. “There had to be a mistake. Damien is my mate. Damien-”The words died on my tongue as the memory of his rejection stabbed at me.“Don’t dare utter another man’s name,” Kieran snapped. His aura pressed against me, my heart rate doubled and my stomach squished. “You are mine and mine alone,”Out of ev

  • SECOND Chance MATE TO The LYCAN : Who dares Touch my LUNA   chapter 6

Laila's POVI watched frozen and tongue-tied as Lycan Kieran's clean left hand clamped around Damien’s shoulder.“No need to act all formal, I hear congratulations are in order, Damien.”Damien's fists clenched by his sides as he straightened a little. I could almost guess what he was thinking… I had ruined his ceremony.I clutched my baby tighter in my hands, feeling my heart caving in. I wouldn't even hurt a fly, how could he believe I could commit such a heinous act? Then, with a slight tilt of his lips, Kieran added, “Forgive my lateness. I had other matters to attend to before I could come to celebrate your child.”My heart twisted. It was as if I’d turned to stone, unable to move.Damien bowed, head lowered, posture stiff. “It is an honour to have you here, my lord.” His voice trembled on the edge.Abruptly, Fiona’s strangled gasp cut through the tension. My eyes snapped to where she stared. Her eyes were fixed on Donovan’s body, which lay sprawled cold on the ground with blood
