KELLY'S POV

The week crawled by like a slug on a summer sidewalk, slow and sticky, but then it hit its stride like a rollercoaster picking up speed.

School was a wild ride, with Debbie and Sandrine hurling warnings and shade like they were going out of their way to make me disappear from Jimmy's life; "Leave Jimmy the hell alone! Jimmy is mine."

Debbie's words still lingered in my mind, "You're delusional if you think Jimmy's interested in you for real. You're just a project to him, something to pass the time. Newsflash: you're not even in his league. No amount of makeup or petty reveling clothes you wear can change that."

But I wasn't having it. Oh no, I doubled down, flirting shamelessly with Jimmy in the hallways, plastering a smile on my face whenever he was near, laughing loudly at his jokes and we had studied together throughout the days.
