The morning after rose with much more awkwardness than the day before. The 3 of them could hardly look at each other during breakfast while Aaron and Leonardo kept shuffling between them, passing on plates and cups. Thankfully, Zaden had a meeting with one of his managers and left for the city.
Orion practically ran away, keeping his distance from Selena. Every time he gets closer to her, her taste comes back to his tongue–futile consequences of yesterday. Eventually, they bumped against each other. She crossed her hands over her chest and leaned over the door frame, pursing her lips and raising her eyebrow. It made him fidget his hands and rub his neck. A quiet moment raised the thickness in the air even more. He understands that eventually, he has to face her.
“Look, I’m sorry for the way I behaved yesterday. Both times… I don’t know what got into me” his brain“Wake up, sleepyhead…” Zaden blinked his eye at the sweet, yet assaulting voice. The usual coldness that comes with nightfall had dissipated with the sun, beaming on his back. He looked around to see Selena sitting at his feet. “What time is it?” he asked in a husky low voice. “About half-past 12 pm. Why?” Zaden snapped up to sit.“How come no one woke me up?”“Who would want to mess up with a sleeping alpha?” she frowned coldly. Makeala sent an email to Selena of the translated letter and Selena got it printed out. They gathered around and sat down as Grandpa Kai started to read the printout.I am in pain, in great pain. I can feel my baby dying, his soul slipping off my grip every second. His heartbeat slowed down to almost none.It
She turned around and howled, stomping towards the woods. It doesn’t mean she has accepted them but it also doesn’t mean she rejected or intimidated by them. The other 3 howled, delighted, and followed her to the woods. Her palms wholly embrace the mother earth with each step. Her eyes looked forward in full confidence, ignoring the other wolves around her that kept stealing glances at her. The wind rippled through her fur, seeping cold into the bone. The soft cushion of the forest floor imprinted by her paws and the scent of grass mixed with dirt fused into the creaks of her toes. Full moon and the scattered stars on pitch-black canvas, not forgetting the chirps of the cricket, croaks of the frogs, slither of the snake, chittering of the mouse backing the soft whoosh of breeze–the sound of nature around her– she took in everything nature has to offer. &
A single ray of sun sneaked through the curtains to harass Selena’s face. Her once pitch-black vision is now reddened. She slowly blinked open her eyes. Another morning–only today, she is a werewolf. She sat up on Daisy’s bed, and stretched her body till her limbs are weak and loose, demotivating her to take a bath. After a forced, long hot shower and dressing up in blue jeans and a black t-shirt, she went downstairs. At those last steps, a series of doors shut made her wonder what is happening outside. She strolled over to the front door to see Orion loading luggage and they are all dressed up casually, ready to leave. Climate took a drastic change as dark clouds gathered, about to pour down any minute now. Selena’s heartbeat shot up, accompanied by her widening eyes. Zaden's words came around, stabbing her in the mid-chest.'You are to go o
Weeks have gone by–3 weeks and 2 days to be precise. Nothing has changed much for the 3 of them. Selena didn’t attend her graduation. She took the certificate from Dean Pete and continued working at Wildlife Research Centre. Her mood doesn’t seem to have changed much. Every day, she will go to work, come back home, eat and sleep–living a robotic life despite her friend's effort to cheer her up. The career that she loved once doesn’t give her joy anymore. It seems like the moment Grandpa Kai asked her the promise, her life fell apart and a dark curse engulfed her. It wasn’t any better at Mount Manuka. Zaden and Orion rarely talked and Makeala became the second beta to substitute her big brother during his absence. Zaden kept himself locked up in the second-floor room most of the time. No one is allowed into the room and cleaning is prohibited. Most of his essential belong
The sun's beam raises humidity. The village slowly gains life, hustling in their own patch of land while Selena is still bundled in Zaden's duvet. He smiled at the view before changing his dress and going out for his usual run. Taking her own sweet time, Selena woke up and dragged her heavy feet to her room, took a bath, and got ready as usual. She learned during breakfast that there will be a meeting in the communal room and her attendance is made compulsory. Makeala seemed very nice and informative, willing to help the newcomer. Selena also learned that she is the second beta, while Orion, her brother, is the beta of the pack or technically an advisor to the alpha. Her job is to be helpful to beta. Sitka and Xavier are deltas, they take care of territory and the ill one in the pack. Makeala found her mate a few years back, one of the pack members as well, Nelson and she has a daug
A light tap on her shoulder ruffles her slumber.“Selena, come on, time for your training” Zaden, ready for his morning run.“Hmm…. five more minutes,” she said in a low, husky voice before turning the opposite side and coiling up“Selena… it's already 5 am. Wake up,” Zaden said sternly. She sprang up to sit“Zaden, you are a psycho!!!” she stated calmly and fall back to bed. He rolled his eye and grabbed her by the waist, pulling her towards him“Za…den…I only slept at 3 am…please…” he already pulled her out of the bed, into his arms, in a bridal position. She snuggled into his chest, earning a low growl. His body warmth isn’t helping at all as she snoozed a bit more.“What were you doing till 3?” he questioned, already reaching from under Selena to twist the bathroom doorknob“Talking with Ori
Zaden was pacing left and right in front of Grandpa Kai who has settled comfortably on a couch“I’m telling you. Thank god, I send the others away. I don’t think the boys would have had that much self-control in them” veins pulsing on his temple. Grandpa Kai placed a finger on his lips as he narrowed his eyes at him, quietly observing the pacing madman.“I mean, she is supposed to tame animals, not enrage them!!!” he continued after a pause while Grandpa Kai observed their Alpha getting anxious over a girl– for the first time.“Would you say something?” Zaden is now venting“Are you hiding something from me?” Grandpa Kai cocked an eyebrow. Zaden froze in his steps and shrugged his shoulders to the question. “Something important, perhaps. About Selena?” His head slowly trailed to the f
With a mission in hand, Selena headed straight to her room. She slammed the chocolate bar on the table before pacing back and forth for a few minutes. Weighing her options. Determination took over her as she wrung her hand and feet, mentally prepared. She then locked the door and took off her dress. Wispy air that went unnoticed before tingled across her naked, exposed skin. Goosebumps prick along her upper arm. She slowly paced to the window but came to a stop when a single hum of a nightingale made her doubt her fake willpower. Before she could recover and push herself further, a knock on the door sends her into a trembling mess. Bouncing left-right, she wrapped a blanket around her chest and opened the door–just a bit though. As usual, Zaden was leaning on the door frame. His eyes widened at the sight of Selena wrapped in a blanket. Messy hair, pink powdered cheeks, her shoulder reflecting a beam
