LOGINCHAPTER THREE
~~DIANE~~ I woke up to the sound of my alarm again. A quick glance out the window told me it was already late, the perfect time to leave. My stomach dropped the moment I checked my jeans. The money was gone. “Did you misplace something?” Abigail leaned against the doorframe, watching me with open disdain. I opened my mouth, but nothing came out. She waved a hand dismissively. “It’s okay. I understand. Stop searching. Your money is with me now.” “It’s mine,” I whispered, panic rising in my chest. “Please give it back, mother. I spent three years saving every bit of it.” Abigail stepped into the room, arms crossed. “I’m not stupid enough to hand it back so you can run. There’s no way out of this. Accept it.” “But Mother—” “If you try to escape again,” she said coldly, “I’ll make sure you regret it.” It was my birthday, yet I was having the worst day of my life. I slid down the wall and thought bitterly. “I am doomed.” ~XAVIER~ ~STEALTH PACK~ I stared at my reflection in the mirror, a small, satisfied smile tugging at my lips. My blonde hair was pulled back into a neat bun. Blue eyes. Full lips that always seemed to rest in a smirk. The thin scar above my eyebrow only sharpened my face. “You look rather excited today,” Ace said from behind me, one eyebrow raised. “Am I missing something?” “Nothing,” I replied. “I’m just looking forward to our duel. Can’t wait to put you on your ass.” Ace was my opposite in almost every way: grey eyes, dark wavy hair that fell over one side of his forehead, tanned skin, and tattoos covering most of his arms. We shared a father, but different mothers. I was born to Luna Harriette, father’s human mate. Ace was born to Luna Melanie, his wolf mate. . “You’re older and you’re the Alpha,” he said with a shrug. “Of course you’ll have the upper hand.” “Ten years isn’t that big of a gap.” “The duel isn’t even necessary,” Ace muttered. “I’m not fighting for the title. I don’t want it. Why do I have to fight my own brother for something I never asked for?” I adjusted my collar. “You can’t say the same for your mother. She wants you to have it because you’re full-blooded. She suggested this duel to test me. If I fail, the title goes to you.” I left the room before he could reply. On my way to the office, I caught more whispers about the new maid. Curiosity got the better of me. I called one of the maids over. “Alpha,” she said, head bowed. “How may I help you?” “Who is this new maid everyone keeps talking about?” “She was brought in today from Crescent Pack. She’s meant to serve in the Alpha’s mansion for the next ten years.” My brows furrowed. “We already have enough maids.” “We are currently short on a few maids.. More replacements are needed.” I nodded once. “Fine. You may go.” The bell rang shortly after. It was time. *** The sound of swords clashing filled the air as Ace and I fought like our lives depended on it. I was breathing hard. “You’re not bad,” I said between strikes. “Your form is almost perfect.” Ace only grunted, refusing to drop his guard. “It’s a fight. I’m giving it everything.” Neither of us was willing to back down. Blood streaked our skin. Fresh cuts marked both our bodies. Then the scent hit me. Sweet. Floral. Unmistakable. It grew stronger with every second… intoxicating, pulling at something deep inside me. I shook my head hard, forcing it away. If I let it distract me now, Ace would win. The duel was almost over. I needed to stay focused. Luck finally tipped in my favor. I found an opening and took it without hesitation. My blade sank into his side. Ace dropped to one knee, hands pressing against the wound. “I’m sorry, brother,” I muttered, letting my sword fall to the ground. The crowd erupted in cheers. But my mind was already elsewhere. That scent… I had smelled it before. At the banquet in Crescent Pack. It belonged to her. I left the training grounds without another word, following the trail through the crowd until I saw her. Her. Irritation flared hot and sharp. “Follow me,” I snarled, turning away. Why the hell was she here? Had she actually followed me after I rejected her? I stopped in a quiet, enclosed area far from the others and spun around to face her. “What are you doing here?”CHAPTER FOUR~~THE STEALTH PACK~~~~DIANE STANFIELD~~I shuddered the moment the guard said the Alpha wanted to see me. My mind raced with possibilities. Maybe he was finally ready to acknowledge me as his mate. Maybe he had noticed the bruises when I bumped into him earlier and wanted to find out who hurt me. The thought alone made heat rise to my cheeks.I followed the guard with my heart pounding against my ribs. In a few minutes, we reached the Alpha’s office. The guard stopped at the entrance and motioned toward the door.“The Alpha is waiting.”Suddenly, the excitement I felt earlier began to fade. I had been stupid to hope. He had already made it painfully clear that he wanted nothing to do with me.Slowly, I turned the knob and stepped inside, eyes fixed on the floor. I clasped my hands in front of me and bowed.Silence.The silence was so thick I started to wonder if the room was empty. Just as I was about to look up, a small pouch landed at my feet with a heavy thud.“Take i
CHAPTER FOURTHE STEALTH PACK~~~DIANE~~I trembled under his dark, deadly glare. The hatred in his eyes was clear, and he did nothing to hide it. Terrified, I tore my gaze away and stared at the floor.“I’m here to serve as a maid in the Stealth Pack mansion,” I said quietly.“Oh. So you’re the new maid everyone’s been talking about?”I pressed my lips together. I hadn’t known the others were already talking about me.“How dare you come here of all places to serve as a maid?” he thundered.“Coming here was against my wish… I was forced.”“You expect me to believe that? That you were forced against your will? Are you doing all of this because I rejected you?”My wolf whimpered. So did I. The pain of his rejection tore through my heart all over again.“N-not… that.”“It better not be. Because no matter how hard you try to get closer to me, I will never accept you as my mate. Do you understand?”“Yes, I do, Alpha.”My feet stayed glued to the spot long after he left. My heart ached from

CHAPTER TWO~DIANE~I glanced around, noticing the tension that grew thick in the air within seconds. A few wolves pushed past me, running through the alleyway to get to the banquet hall. I tried running alongside them, but my speed was nothing compared to their wolf speed. In a matter of minutes, everywhere was eerily quiet.Torn between running back home or risking it to the banquet, I decided to do the latter. No matter what, I must make it to the event and find my mate.I continued running with as much speed as I could summon.A loud growl erupted from behind me. Beads of sweat broke out on my forehead. It was after me…Adrenaline shot through me like a lightning bolt. Panic settled in, and the fear of losing my life almost made me break down.I couldn’t die. Not now. Not when I promised my father I’d do whatever it took to survive. Not when I had yet to get my revenge on the wolf that killed him that day.Anger, frustration, anxiety, and dread burst through every part of my body
PROLOGUEIt was freezing. Only the moon had cast a little illumination on the forest grounds. I sat by the tree, my back pressed against the bark as I awaited my father’s return.Suddenly, shadows loomed closer to where I sat. I raised my head from where I buried them between my thighs to relive the figure before me. “Dad.” I could barely find my voice. “Let’s get out of here!” He bawled. My brows pulled into a frown at his tone. It was unnatural. Father never yelled. “On your feet now! Diane..”I sensed the urgency in his voice and immediately stood on wobbly legs. Something IS wrong.I barely had the time to ask when a beastly creature came into view. Something I had never seen before. It lunged at father. I swallowed the lump in my throat as I watched my father struggle against it. He had never looked so helpless. My eyes widened in horror as I watched the creature sink two sharp fangs into father’s neck. “Leave my daddy alone!” I cried, throwing a pebble stone at the creatu
