Grayson’s POV

I walked without knowing where I was going.

Clara’s pained face kept flashing in my mind. But it was Serafine’s that refused to leave me.

The way she had crouched halfway to my house this morning. As if the weight of the world had finally become too much. Clara’s words did that to her.

I dragged a hand over my face. I was furious at Clara. Furious at Bran. Furious at myself.

Clara knew how I felt about Serafine. She knew very well what Serafine meant to me. Yet she had come betwee

Serafine’s POV “Hope!” My voice cracked as I shook her hand again. “Hope, please wake up!” But her body remained limp on the gurney. The younger nurse gently pushed my hand away. “Miss, please move back.” “No!” I protested. “She was trying to say something!” The older nurse leaned over Hope quickly, checking her pulse again while adjusting the oxygen mask over her face. “She’s still breathing,” she said. “But her pulse is dropping.” My stomach twisted. The younger nurse began adjusting something on the small monitor beside the gurney. The machine let out a soft beep that suddenly sounded too slow for comfort. I stared helplessly at Hope’s pale face. Just seconds ago she had been awake. My mind replayed the moment over and over. “Grayson…” she had whispered. What about him? What did she want to tell me about Grayson? “Is she going to be okay?” I asked. The nurses didn't answer. The silence inside the ambulance was uncomfortable. The siren wailed loudly outside as the veh

Serafine’s POV My eyes locked onto the gurney as the nurses pushed it down the path. The white sheet covering Hope’s body moved slightly with the motion of the wheels, but her face… her face was pale. My feet stopped moving. And for a second, I thought my heart had stopped beating. Then suddenly it began pounding violently against my ribs. “No…” The word slipped from my lips in a whisper. My legs moved again. “Wait!” I cried as I rushed forward. The nurses looked up in surprise as I reached them. My hands trembled as I grabbed the edge of the gurney. “Hope!” Her eyes were closed. Her skin looked cold and lifeless. Fear gripped my throat. “What happened to her?” I asked frantically, looking between the two nurses. One of them frowned. “Are you family?” “I—” Who was I going to tell them I was? A slave she was protecting? That didn’t matter right now. I voiced out the next thought that came to my mind. “She’s my friend,” The nurses exchanged a glance.

Serafine’s POV I stood there like a statue. My eyes followed Bran’s back as he disappeared into the house with Saskia in his arms. My lips parted but no sound came out. Bran had walked right past me like I wasn’t here. Did he really not see me? Or did he simply choose to ignore me? I shut my eyes at the sudden tightening in my chest. A sharp pain spread through my heart. My body bent forward as my hand flew to my chest. Fingers pressed hard against my sternum. The doctor had said I was fine. Then why was this happening again? “Serafine!” Aric’s voice sounded alarmed as hurried footsteps approached me. I knew he was rushing toward me. But before he could reach me, I lifted my hand to stop him. He halted immediately. I straightened slowly, forcing myself to breathe through the pain. “I’m fine,” I murmured, even though I clearly wasn’t. Aric stared at me with concern, but he didn’t step closer. I turned away from him and began walking slowly back toward my

Alpha Bran’s POV My eyes glued to Saskia's back as I didn’t know what next to do. I had never seen Saskia this furious in the four years we had been together. She had asked me to leave. But I couldn't. I had to find a way to resolve this so we could get married as soon as possible. Even though I knew it was nearly impossible. I had to try. My fists clenched at my sides. ‘Do you see what you’ve caused?’ I growled at my wolf. ‘Now what do we do?’ ‘Go back to Serafine. And make things right with her.’ Ryker said. I couldn’t believe he just said that. I had asked him for a solution to the trouble he had caused. Not an advice. ‘I already told her… that she’s our mate.’ he added. My fists tightened so hard my claws pushed painfully into my palms. ‘How dare you?!’ I roared. Ryker continued. ‘She didn’t take it lightly. So go check on her. And prepare to announce her as your mate and Luna of the pack.’ “Never!” I growled out loud. Saskia peeked at me over her shoulder.

Saskia’s POV His eyes were blazing with anger. “You must marry Bran.”The words stunned me into silence. He continued. “That’s the only way you can continue being a Crescent. Otherwise, you and your brother will be sidelined in the pack with all your rights relinquished.”My breath caught in my throat.Javier?...“And if that happens, you will both be nothing.” He muttered slowly, allowing his voice to drop lower before saying, “Typically a slave, you know.”Slave? In my own pack?Elder Larkin bent towards me, bringing his face closer to mine. “So if you don’t want to become a slave in your own pack. Then you must find a way to convince Bran to marry you in two weeks.”My mind spun. Two weeks?“I don’t care how you do it. Even if you have to erase the existence of that damn human girl, do it. If not for yourself, do it for the sake of your brother’s rights to the Alpha seat.”He kicked my hands away from his leg. The force sent me stumbling backward on the floor.“Useless girl,” he

Saskia’s POVThe pain inside my heart lingered even as I blinked awake.A flashback of Bran's cold eyes on me as he said, ‘I can’t continue with this.’ replayed in my mind.My fist curled tightly on the sheet.‘…Saskia is not my mate. This ceremony ends here.’ his voice echoed in my head.My eyelids tightened as my eyes burned with tears.“...Serafine is my mate.” His voice echoed again and my eyes shot open again like I was hearing it for the first time.My chest tightened, making it difficult to breath. My fingers clenched my chest as the pain deepened. “No…” I whispered, my lips trembling. That was impossible. Serafine couldn't be his mate. Right?Bran's voice echoed again in my head, louder this time. ‘...Serafine is my mate.’Tears burned in the back of my eyes as my hand cupped my mouth, muffling my sobs. I pounded my fist on the bed repeatedly, crying aloud. How could Bran do this to me? How would I face my grand uncle now?How would I face my pack? They had seen me standin
