CHAPTER SEVENTY

She curled into his arms, listening patiently for the words that'd finally fix the distorted picture of everything she's carried around with her.

She waited for the truth.

His hand caressed her, but he looked miles away from her.

Absent, lost in his own head.

Anger, hurt, they were the most dominant of the emotions flirting on his face when she dared to look.

"Haven't you taken a look, at least once since yesterday, and wondered why I don't look the same as the boy you knew?"

She wanted to deny it but he was looking at her like he already knew the answer and she couldn't get the lie out.

"I have."

He said, looking away from her, like it was too painful looking at her while admitting it.

She was hurting for him, but there was nothing she could do to free him from the memories he was digging up himself.

If anything, she should be happy that he was finally sharing, willing to tell her all of it.
