Adrian’s POV

The morning air is crisp when I step into the office, but it does nothing to cool the storm building in my chest. Isabella is already there, as if the universe or my parents have conspired to make sure I can’t escape her presence. She’s leaning against the edge of my desk, pen in hand, posture relaxed but eyes sharp, tracking my every move like a predator.

“Morning,” I say, trying to mask the tightness in my voice. My tone is neutral, professional, but even I can hear the edge in it.

“Morning,” she replies, almost teasingly. “You look tense. Did your parents corner you again?”

I grit my teeth and walk past her to my office chair. I don’t want to engage, not today. But she follows, her heels clicking deliberately on the floor.

“Don’t follow me,” I say, stopping to face her, my hands on my hips.

She smiles faintly. “You can’t tell me what to do.”

I run a hand through my hair, frustrated. I should be the one setting boundaries here, yet every time she’s near, I feel off bala

  • STEP ASIDE EX-HUSBAND: THE RISE OF LIANA   Chapter 235

Adrian’s POVThe day started with the usual hum of activity, but the tension in the office was almost tangible, a static electricity that seemed to hang in the air. Ever since yesterday’s near-conflict, I couldn’t stop thinking about Isabella. Her boldness, the way she dared to test me, lingered in my mind like a persistent shadow. I arrived early, hoping to get a head start on the day’s workload, but even the quiet of the office didn’t calm my thoughts.Isabella was already there, as if she had some unspoken radar that always made her appear just when she was needed or maybe just when she wanted. She was leaning against her desk, arms crossed, smirking in that infuriatingly confident way of hers.I ignored her and went straight to my office, pretending not to notice the deliberate flick of her hair in my direction. I could feel her eyes on me, the gaze heavy and deliberate, as though she were challenging me to look back. The morning passed in a blur of emails, phone calls, and report

  • STEP ASIDE EX-HUSBAND: THE RISE OF LIANA   Chapter 234

Adrian’s POVThe office felt unusually quiet that morning, a thin layer of tension lingering in the air like fog. Even the hum of computers seemed subdued, almost respectful of the storm brewing between Isabella and me. I arrived earlier than usual, hoping to grab a few uninterrupted hours to plan the upcoming project, but as soon as I walked in, I sensed her presence. She was there already, perched on the edge of her desk with that insufferable grace of hers, flipping through documents with deliberate slowness. The moment she looked up and caught my gaze, that smirk tugged at her lips again. It was infuriating how effortlessly she could unsettle me.I cleared my throat and walked past her, refusing to acknowledge the silent challenge she was throwing. The goal was simple: stay professional. But as the day unfolded, it became increasingly clear that Isabella had no intention of letting me off that easily. Our first real confrontation yesterday had left a mark. I could feel it in every

Adrian’s POVThe morning light barely reached my office when I arrived, though the tension from yesterday’s encounter with Isabella hadn’t dissipated. In fact, it seemed to have multiplied overnight, like a storm quietly brewing behind my ribs. I thought I could prepare myself, that I could walk in and act as if nothing had happened, but that illusion shattered the moment I saw her.She was already at her desk, the very picture of calm elegance, her posture perfect, her expression unreadable. I couldn’t deny it she looked stunning, and every inch of her presence seemed calculated to test my resolve. The faintest smirk tugged at the corners of her lips when she noticed me.I swallowed the sudden tightness in my throat and forced myself to focus on the papers in my hands. Business first, I reminded myself. Personal feelings were dangerous, and I wasn’t about to let them compromise me especially not now.But Isabella, of course, wasn’t going to make it easy.As soon as the team began fil

  • STEP ASIDE EX-HUSBAND: THE RISE OF LIANA   Chapter 232

Adrian’s POVThe morning started with a tension in the air that I could feel in my bones, heavy and unyielding. The city outside was waking up, unaware of the storm that was about to erupt inside my office. As soon as I entered, Isabella was there leaning casually against my desk, the picture of effortless confidence. That smirk of hers, the one that always seemed to know exactly what she was doing, greeted me like a challenge.I ignored it, forcing myself to focus on the reports stacked neatly on my desk. Today, I reminded myself, was about business. Nothing personal. Nothing that could spiral out of control. But as soon as Isabella moved, the calm I tried to maintain began to unravel. She strolled past, brushing her hand lightly against mine as if it were accidental. It wasn’t. I felt a jolt, sharp and unwelcome, run through me, and I quickly pulled my hand back under the table. She noticed, of course, the faintest glimmer of amusement in her eyes.“Adrian,” she said softly, tilting

  • STEP ASIDE EX-HUSBAND: THE RISE OF LIANA   Chapter 231

Adrian’s POVThe day had started with a sense of foreboding that I couldn’t shake. Even the city seemed heavier this morning, its usual hum weighed down by the storm brewing inside me. From the moment I walked into the office, I knew Isabella would be there leaning against a desk, smirking like she owned the building. And, as always, she did.I tried to focus on the reports waiting for me, the endless meetings, the financial forecasts that required my attention. But she was impossible to ignore. Every glance, every subtle shift of her posture seemed designed to provoke me. I clenched my jaw, forcing myself to concentrate.By mid-morning, it became clear that the tension was mutual. We were assigned to work on a critical client pitch together, and my parents had insisted that Isabella take a lead role something I had reluctantly agreed to. I wasn’t sure whether they were testing my patience or trying to orchestrate something entirely different, but I wasn’t going to be easy to manipula

  • STEP ASIDE EX-HUSBAND: THE RISE OF LIANA   Chapter 230

Adrian’s POVThe morning air felt heavier than usual as I entered the office, the glass doors reflecting my own sharp expression back at me. I had barely stepped inside when I spotted her Isabella already seated at her desk, her posture impossibly relaxed, a faint smirk tugging at the corner of her lips. It was as if she knew exactly the effect she had on me and was savoring every second.I exhaled, trying to focus. There were meetings to attend, proposals to review, decisions to make. Yet, the moment I saw her, I felt the familiar tight coil of irritation mixed with something far more dangerous desire. I shoved the feeling aside. I couldn’t allow myself to be distracted, not here, not now.She looked up as I approached, eyes locking onto mine with that infuriating confidence of hers. “Morning, Adrian,” she said, her voice deceptively casual, as if the tension between us didn’t exist.“Morning,” I replied curtly, forcing myself to sound businesslike. I slid past her desk, avoiding any
