Chapter 36

Knox's POV 

We noticed that it was getting a little bit late and we didn't see Autumn, so we decided to go and check on her. What we didn't expect was that she was going to come out in a car with another man.

It was Dante and I who decided to go and check on her. Even Angata had come back earlier and said Autumn tried to pick a fight with her. I don't know if that is true or not, but given Autumn's temper now, she is capable of doing something like that.

"Who the hell is that bastard talking and smiling with her?" Dante asked, and I could see him clenching his fists.

But I don't really think we have a right to ask her that question. At least for now, we don't. However, if it's in the face of the public, of course we have to stop her from going around with other men. 

I'm not happy either, and I feel so angry. I don't know if they just met each other or have anything to do with each other, but seeing her come down from another man's car is so infuriating.

"Bye." She waved at him after their conversation and she started coming close to us. 

I can't believe how much she was smiling when she hasn't even smiled at us in a very long time. The moment she saw us, her smile dropped immediately. 

"Where are you coming from, Autumn?" I asked her calmly. 

She scoffed, "I don't think I need to tell you where I go or where I don't go, but I'll just tell you anyway. I already told you this before that I'm going to the mall and that is where I'm coming from."

She doesn't seem to be lying about this. Besides, Agatha indeed confirmed seeing her at the mall. The only problem is the person she came with. I couldn't see his face properly to know who he was. And also, why is she suddenly hiding her hair in a big cap. 

I can't see any strand of hair on her at all, but it's clear that she has hair. Is something going on with her? She does have a lot of makeup on her face today, after coming back from the mall. What is going on with her now? What exactly is she planning this time around?

"So who is that guy that just dropped you off and what is your relationship with him?" Dante asked her this time. She frowned. 

"None of your business. Why don't you just mind your fucking business and focus on your princess?" She yelled at us and pushed her way inside. 

I almost forgot that a delivery car brought all the things that she bought at the mall today. It was then that I realized there was a lot of things that she lacked. I checked all the old clothes she was wearing, and I couldn't believe it. 

We've neglected her too much, and now we even dared to pay her money to work for us, but we've never given her any allowance as our needs. We grew up taking care of her, and we neglected her to the point that she ended up dying in the last life. 

If she's treating us like this, it means she's in so much pain that she can't let go. And it's not something that we can just take away in one day. It has to be gradual, and it will take some time.

"Autumn! We're your uncles! You've gotten more disrespectful every single day!" Dante complained but I pulled him back. 

"You can go inside and rest." I told her. 

She scoffed again and went inside. Dante was still angry, but I have to stop him from doing anything stupid. We are trying to get her forgiveness, not to add any more issues to it. 

"Why are you stopping me from scolding her? Even if we are doing everything to please her now, it doesn't mean she should lose her morals. We should still teach her a lesson at least."

I tapped him, "You think now is a good time for us to be scolding her? We have no right to do that, so just forget about it. Let's go and talk to Adonis. We need to find out the man that brought her home. Don't you think that should be our main priority now?"

He nodded in agreement. "You're right. What if that guy is here to take her away from us? Then what are we going to do? She already hates us so much. She might agree to be with him."

I shook my head. "Even if she hates us, she has an agreement with us now, which is still going to bind her to us for a year. But I can't guarantee what would happen within a year. So we have to win her heart back as soon as possible."

If we can't do anything to keep her by our side then there's not really a reason for us to keep chasing her. If she's going to get hurt every time she gets close to us, then we filled in our job of trying to protect her and we don't deserve her at all. 

We met Adonis on our way inside. He noticed immediately that we were not happy. 

"What is wrong with you both? Haven't you found her already?" He asked us. 

I took a deep breath. "Of course we found her. But we saw her coming down from a car with another man."

He immediately got alerted. "What do you mean she came with another man? Who is that bastard that dared to follow her here?"

I shrugged and shook my head. I don't know who that is either. "We just have to find out and make sure that person stays away from her. Or we are going to lose her to him forever."

He stood up pacing around the room, thinking of what to do. Then he came back to us. 

"This will not do. We should announce her tomorrow as our mate so that the entire world will keep their eyes away from her."

We immediately nodded in agreement. That was the best idea and the only way to keep her with us. But also, keeping her as just our fake mate wouldn't help because she's supposed to be our mate. 

The day she's going to be discovered as our mate is coming close, and that's when we are going to be able to make a move on her. By that time, she won't be able to resist the mating bond.
