Sybil

I could not look away. The man standing in the doorway possessed a completely different kind of danger than the CEO.

Elias was a silent, immovable mountain. He controlled the room by simply existing inside of it. The newcomer was a raging blizzard.

He was slightly taller than Elias, built with lean muscle that seemed entirely out of place in a polished corporate boardroom.

His dark hair was styled in a messy way that looked completely intentional, falling slightly over his forehead. But it was his eyes that caught me completely off guard.

They were a stunning, piercing ice blue. They were so cold and sharp that they seemed to slice straight through my carefully built professional armor.

He did not even look at me at first. He strode into the office as if he personally owned the entire building and then tossed a thick leather folder onto a glass coffee table.

"I am not playing games with the European board," the man said. His voice was a harsh, vibrating growl that echoed off the high ceiling. "If they want to drag out the acquisition for another month, we cut them loose today."

"Casimir," Elias muttered. His tone was perfectly flat, offering absolutely no reaction to his brother's intense anger. "We have a guest."

Casimir finally stopped pacing the floor. He turned his head slowly. Those icy blue eyes locked onto me, and I felt the temperature in the room plummet by ten degrees.

He did not ask for my name. He did not offer his hand in a polite greeting. He simply stared at me.

The silence stretched out, thick and heavy. I refused to look away or fidget under his intense scrutiny. I stood my ground, clutching the strap of my purse tightly to keep my hands from shaking.

"Meet Sybil Adams," Elias continued from behind his large desk. He sat back in his leather chair. "She is our new Executive Assistant."

Casimir did not look impressed by the introduction. He looked thoroughly annoyed by the impromptu personnel change. His icy gaze swept over me in a slow, highly judgmental appraisal.

He took in my simple beige skirt, my sensible low heels, and my tightly pinned hair. It felt exactly like he was calculating my total net worth and finding the final number severely lacking.

He scoffed. And it was a low, rough sound of pure dismissal.

"Did the talent acquisition team go entirely blind?" Casimir asked. He did not bother lowering his voice. He looked back at Elias. "Or did you just decide to hire a beauty influencer? She looks more suited to filming makeup tutorials than handling high level executive logistics. We need someone who can manage international trade schedules, Elias. Not someone who is going to cry when the office phones ring too loudly."

My jaw tightened instantly. The absolute arrogance of the man was staggering. I had spent two years working in the lower levels of this very building. I had drafted complex assessments while eating sandwiches at my desk.

I had fought tooth and nail for every single positive performance review. I did not survive the grueling corporate grind just to be dismissed as an incompetent airhead by a billionaire who probably inherited his corner office.

I squared my shoulders and channeled every single ounce of defiance I possessed. I was not a fighter, and I was definitely not going to throw a punch, but I was not going to let a man talk down to me like I was useless. I did not raise my voice, but I made sure every single word was sharp and crystal clear.

"Is there a stain on my face, or why exactly do you think I do not look qualified for this desk?" I asked.

The room went completely dead silent.

Casimir slowly turned his entire body to face me again. He looked genuinely surprised that I had spoken up. He tilted his head to the side, his icy eyes narrowing into dangerous, calculating slits.

I glanced quickly at Elias, fully expecting the CEO to snap at me for speaking out of turn to his brother. I had just signed a massive contract, and I was already causing problems.

Instead, Elias was leaning back in his chair with his hands folded neatly over his stomach. He was watching the exchange with a distinctly entertained look on his face. The corner of his mouth was actually twitching upwards, like he was enjoying a private joke.

Casimir gave a low, unamused chuckle. It was a dark, rumbling sound that did not reach his eyes at all. Then he took a slow step toward me.

Every survival instinct I had told me to step back, but I locked my knees firmly in place. I was not going to be intimidated.

He took another step. His polished leather shoes moved silently across the expensive rug. Then he took another. He closed the distance between us with the fluid, predatory grace of a large animal cornering its prey.

He stopped only when he was standing completely inside my personal space. The sheer size of him was completely overwhelming. His broad shoulders blocked out my view of the rest of the room and I had to tilt my head up just to maintain eye contact with him.

He smelled like expensive scotch, crisp winter air, and raw masculinity. The intense heat radiating off his large body was completely contradicting the freezing cold stare he leveled down at me.

"You have a very sharp tongue for a simple assistant," Casimir murmured. His voice was dangerously soft now. It sent a sudden shiver straight down my spine.

"I have a very sharp mind," I corrected him. I kept my breathing steady, refusing to let him see how fast my heart was racing against my ribs. "I know exactly how to handle international trade schedules. I know how to manage severe pressure. And I know that judging a person's intelligence based on their appearance is a terrible business strategy."

Casimir stared down at me. The open annoyance in his eyes slowly shifted into something else entirely. It was heavy, dark, and highly predatory. He searched my face quietly, tracking the line of my jaw, the shape of my lips, and the open defiance in my eyes.

The tension in the air was so thick it felt like I was breathing underwater. The electric spark I had felt with Elias earlier was entirely different.

This was a suffocating, gravitational pull. I felt trapped between the secretly amused CEO sitting at the desk and the brooding giant towering over me.

"You did not answer my question," I pushed, though my voice came out much softer than I originally intended. "Why do you think I do not look qualified?"

Casimir looked deeply into my eyes. His expression remained completely unreadable.

"Because you look pretty," he stated flatly.

My mind short circuited. All of my carefully prepared defensive arguments vanished into thin air and I stood there staring up at him in utter shock.

Pretty. The ruthless billionaire with the icy glare had just called me pretty.

I severely doubted I was anything but ordinary. I did not wear designer clothes and I certainly did not belong in this world of extreme wealth. The word felt completely out of place coming from his scowling mouth. The compliment, if it could even be called that, felt like a dangerous trap.

I desperately wanted to ask him if pretty meant dumb in his vocabulary. I wanted to ask why being attractive automatically disqualified me from being competent at my job. But the sheer intensity of his gaze stripped the words right out of my throat. I swallowed hard and held my tongue.

Casimir did not step back. He stayed right where he was, his icy eyes locked onto mine, silently daring me to challenge him again. The air between us cracked with a heavy, unspoken tension.

Before Elias could finally intervene to break the suffocating standoff, or before I could remember how to properly fill my lungs with oxygen, the heavy office doors swung open for a second time.

The sudden noise shattered the heavy silence like broken glass.

I turned my head toward the open doorway and I felt the air slip out of my lungs.

SybilI stood perfectly still. The coffee cup in my hand felt suddenly heavy. I looked at the three of them as if the words Emrys just spoke were in a completely foreign language. But none of them laughed. None of them said it was a joke. They just stared right back at me in total silence, waiting for my reaction.I felt completely surrounded and entirely outnumbered.I took a slow breath and looked at each of them. Their distinct reactions were completely overwhelming. Elias sat at his massive desk, his face a blank, impenetrable mask of stone that refused to give away a single thought. Casimir stood by the window, his arms crossed over his chest and his icy blue eyes locked onto me with a cold stare that could freeze water. And Emrys stood right next to me. He had a smug, smitten smirk on his face and a warm gaze that threatened to turn my knees to jelly.I finally found my voice. I set the coffee cup down on the edge of Elias's desk before my trembling fingers ended up dropping i

SybilIt is incredible how fast a single interruption can completely shift the power dynamic inside a room. The heavy tension that Casimir brought with him vanished the very second the office doors swung open. It was instantly replaced by a completely different energy.I took a slow breath and finally stepped out of Casimir's shadow to look at the newcomer. The man who walked into the office bore a stark resemblance to the two billionaires already in the room. He had the same dark, neatly styled hair. He possessed the exact sharp, aristocratic jawline. He was just as tall as Elias and Casimir, carrying himself with a relaxed, predatory grace that made the expensive suit he wore look dangerous. And that was where the similarities ended. If Elias was a wall of impenetrable stone and Casimir was a violent winter storm, this new arrival was pure, lethal sunlight. He did not scowl or carry the weight of the world on his shoulders. He strolled into the executive suite with a bright, char

SybilThe private elevator to the top floor moved with complete, unsettling silence. I watched the digital numbers tick upward on the small screen above the doors, my stomach twisting into a tight knot with every passing floor. It was a surreal, terrifying mental shift. I had worked at Stavros Enterprises for two full years. I spent my days in a gray cubicle on the forty-second floor, drafting risk assessments, analyzing market trends, and drinking coffee from the breakroom. I knew the corporate structure of this empire inside and out. But I had never once laid eyes on the CEO. Not physically. Now, I was riding up to his private suite to negotiate the exact terms of carrying his child. It felt like a fever dream. If it were not for the heavy Non-Disclosure Agreement folded inside my purse and the pending wire transfer to the hospital escrow account, I would have turned around and run right out of the building. I would have gone back to my spreadsheets and pretended none of this ever

SybilI sat rigid in the chair as I stared at the man sitting across from me. Mr. Gable had a spreadsheet open on his computer and he was not looking at me. He was looking at the numbers. It was terrifying how quickly a human life could be reduced to a column of digits. My sister, Maya, was upstairs in a sterile room with machines breathing for her, but down here in the billing department, she was just an outstanding balance."I just need you to authorize the surgery," I said. My voice was steady. I refused to let it shake. "I will find the rest of the money by Friday. I can liquidate my retirement account and pull a loan against my salary."Mr. Gable finally looked up. He adjusted his glasses and offered a look of practiced, professional sympathy. It was the exact look you give someone right before you announce their life is ruined."Ms. Adams, we have been over this," he said quietly. "The hospital board requires seventy percent upfront for experimental procedures. That is a strict
