Part 11 - ARDEN'S CONQUEST

"Mom, I'm okay. I talked to Adam, and it didn't go well. I wanted to drop by, but something urgent came up, and we had to head back. How's Braven?" I sighed.

"He's fine. He's been asking about you." I could hear her sigh on the other end. "This... this silence between you and Adam isn't getting any better. He told me he's taking that job at Henderson's company."

"Who's that?"

"A friend of his. Scarlett."

"I've met her."

"What's going on, Addison? This can't keep going like this."

"We're fine, Mom. We talked and sorted things out. I just can't go home yet, and he understands that. You know Adam. He can't go long without talking to me. He loves me." I chuckled lightly, hoping to lighten the mood. She'd been worried long enough.

She let out a gentle sigh. "I miss the old Adam."

"I miss him too. I miss all of you."

"We could come visit you if you'd like. I'll talk to Adam before he starts his job in Chicago."

Excitement filled my heart instantly. "I'll let Arden know. I hope Adam will com
