LOGINALLISON P.O.V
The whole day passed by quickly. It was a good thing my boss left early because he said there was an emergency at his place. I did not ask for the exact reason because I am not one to gossip. I walked to the parking lot to get my car when a fair-skinned woman blocked my path. She had long hair and wore very thick makeup. "So! Are you Ms. Del Fierro? The new personal assistant of Dwayne?" Wow! She calls my boss by his first name. That is just great. "Yes, that is right. Why? Do you have something to say or a concern to raise?" I answered in a firm tone, but she simply raised an eyebrow at me. "Stay away from Dwayne. He belongs to me," she said in a proud and annoying manner. I let out a short laugh. "Why? Is something funny to you?" she asked angrily while staring at me with wide eyes. "Not at all, Ma'am. First of all, I am here to work and not to chase after Sir Dwayne. Do not get so agitated so you do not lose your composure." I replied with a roll of my eyes while searching through my bag because I could not find my car keys. "It is good that we understand each other. By the way, I am Monica. Remember my name. Goodbye!" She said this and walked away quickly, but not before deliberately bumping her shoulder against mine. "So dramatic! She acts so beautiful when she is far from perfect," I whispered to myself. It turned out my keys were in my pocket all along. I had emptied almost everything inside my bag for no reason. I drove home quickly and luckily I did not get stuck in traffic. In less than thirty minutes, I arrived home. From the parking area, I could see Angelo waiting for me at the doorway. "Sis! Where is the skin I asked for?" He greeted me cheerfully. "Here it is." I said while handing him a bag filled with chicken skin. "Oh come on! I told you I wanted a skin from Mobile Legends and not actual chicken skin! You really never listen to what I say." He walked inside the house grumbling while carrying the bag of chicken skin. I did tell him I would buy chicken skin after all. I scratched my head as I followed him inside. I placed my bag on the sofa and went to check on my son. I found him fast asleep beside my mother in their room. "Allie, you are home. How did your application go?" My mother asked. "I got accepted, Mom." I said happily. A look of relief spread across my mother's face. "That is wonderful news. I am sure your sister will be happy to hear this." She added. My smile faded away immediately. "By the way, your sister mentioned that she will visit us this month." She continued. I took a deep breath. "For what? To show off again?" I replied in a flat tone. I kissed my son gently on his forehead and looked back at my mother whose face had turned sad. "Have you two still not spoken to each other? She is your older sister after all." My mother said. I gave a fake smile. She was the reason why I lost our late father's restaurant. I lost it because of her selfishness. She is the older sibling so she should have managed the business. She spoke badly about me to different investors so they would support her instead. She succeeded even though our father had placed the business under my name. I did not want to fight over it so I let her have it. "It is alright, Mom. I will take good care of Drake. Please rest now." I changed the subject. My mother did not say anything more because she knew this conversation would only turn into another argument. Once she left the room, I let out a long heavy sigh. I lay down beside my son to rest. I did not notice that night had already fallen. I eventually fell asleep. Ringgggggg... I forced my eyes open because of my phone's loud ringtone. I did not answer it right away. I first checked on Drake to see if the noise woke him up. When I saw that he was still asleep, I picked up the phone and answered it with half closed eyes. "Ah, this feels so good..." My eyes flew wide open in shock at what I heard from the other end of the line. I rushed into the bathroom and prepared to shout at the caller. "Ah, keep going..." I was about to hang up the call when I heard a woman's voice speak next. "Go faster, Dwayne..." My face burned red upon hearing his name. That man is shameless. He called me just to let me hear his indecent acts. He probably thought I would get jealous. What a fool. "Allison." He called my name in a deep husky voice as if I were the woman beside him. "You are both disgusting!" Thud! I lost control of my anger and threw my phone. It hit the bathroom tiles and shattered into pieces. In the end, I was the one who felt regret because my phone was ruined. How rude of you, Dwayne. I ran my hands through my hair out of frustration. I went back to bed but I could no longer sleep. I spent the whole night wondering who that woman was with him. THE NEXT MORNING "Sis, what did you do last night? You look like a panda with those dark circles under your eyes." Angelo asked while sipping his coffee. "Nothing much. I am still sleepy. Do not annoy me this early." I replied shortly while preparing milk for my son. I glanced toward the living room where I left Drake in his crib. He was awake now and moving around happily. "So grumpy so early in the morning." Angelo added before leaving the house. I looked at the clock and breathed a sigh of relief. It was still early. I had plenty of time to care for my son before going to work. My son looks exactly like his father. He has his eyes, nose and face shape. He does not seem to have taken anything after me even though I carried him for nine months. It feels so unfair. I stared at his thick eyebrows for a moment. There is no doubt that you are truly the son of Dwayne Sandoval. "Allie, your sister has arrived in Manila." My mother suddenly appeared holding a glass that our late father gave her. The calm feeling I had vanished instantly and annoyance took its place. "I thought she would stay longer in America?" I asked in a flat tone."She has important business matters to attend to here so she returned right away." My mother answered while preparing her coffee. "That is just great." I said nothing more and turned away to attend to my son. I do not care at all about what is happening in her life. Apart from spending money and chasing men, I know nothing else about her. She's the blacksheep of the family but luckily she handled our business so well. That's bullshit!DWAYNE'S P.O.V. It was past six in the evening when I woke up. I hadn't eaten anything since breakfast, missing lunch as well, yet I didn't feel hungry at all. I grabbed my phone from the side table, hoping for a text message from Allison. A smile instantly formed on my face when I saw her name on the screen. I was excited to open it, if only Cassandra's message hadn't popped up first. "Hi Dwayne, could you please come to the hospital? I just woke up. I miss you." I sighed, thanking God that she was okay. Her operation was successful with no complications, at least, that was what Aunt Vina had told me. I ignored her message and opened the one from Uncle Lucio, or rather, my stepdad. "Go see Cassandra at the hospital. She needs you right now." I furrowed my brows and shook my head in disbelief. Was he really that desperate to push the two of us together? If it weren't for Mom, I would never follow his orders. Finally, I opened Allison's message. "Sleep well," she wrote
ALLISON'S P.O.V. After hearing the truth about my identity, I feel that Sister Cassandra truly has a greater claim within our family and regarding all the inheritance. All this time, Sister Cassandra was Angelo's full sister, while I was only his half-sister. It feels like fate is playing games with my life. Even though I want to confront Mom, I just can't bring myself to do it. I want her to tell me the truth on her own. I want to know who my real mother is, and I want to ask her why she had to give me away. I looked at Sister Cassandra, who was fast asleep with various medical apparatuses hooked up to her body. I prayed for her to wake up soon because I didn't want to stay in this hospital any longer. I might not be able to handle it if I uncover another truth that could crumble my entire existence. "Ta-ta," my baby said with a smile. I glanced back at Sister Cassandra and saw her slowly fluttering her eyes open. "Mom! Sister Cassandra is awake!" I ran outside, calling out.
DWAYNE'S P.O.V. I tried my best to head home early because I desperately needed some rest, but Greg called and told me to head to the office instead because my stepdad was there. I had no idea what was going on or why he needed to show up in person; he could have easily called or asked me to swing by the house. The moment I stepped into the office, I was greeted by the old man's sharp, glare-filled eyes as he sat right in my chair. "It seems like you're just having fun and neglecting the company. Is this how you take care of my company?" he asked, smiling, though the irritation in his voice was undeniable. "My father's company, not yours," I retorted, annoyed. Why did he even bother coming here when he contributed absolutely nothing? "Lest you forget, your father was my best friend, and the two of us built this company together. That is why he handed it over to me before he passed away," he said, still wearing that smug smile I desperately wanted to wipe off his face. "He d
ALLISON’S P.O.V. It was already past noon when I woke up. I glanced at the clock, and my eyes widened in shock. It was already past twelve! My eyes immediately searched for my son, who was sleeping peacefully beside me. I gently lifted him and placed him inside his crib. I needed to take a quick shower so we could go to the hospital to visit Ate Cassandra. If I didn't go, Mom would probably think I had no consideration for my sister. In less than twenty minutes, I finished showering, rushing so much that I didn't even bother scrubbing thoroughly. When I returned to the bedroom, Drake was wide awake, playing with the balls scattered inside his crib. I quickly dressed in a simple shirt and pants; I wasn't going to a mall, so there was no need to dress up fancy. I picked Drake up and wiped him clean. Mom had likely given him a bath earlier in the morning. After dressing him, I called Manong Julio to pick us up and drive us to the hospital. Ten minutes later... Beep... Beep... (T
ALLISON’S P.O.V. The sun was already high in the sky when Dwayne dropped me off at home. I caught sight of Angelo pouting outside while waiting for his car to arrive, not for me. He was in his school uniform, and given that it was already mid-day, he was undoubtedly late. I smiled at him, but he immediately gave me a cold response. "Come on, Ate, Annika and I are already late," he grumbled, snatching the car keys from my hand. Without another word, he drove off. I scratched my head in defeat and went straight inside the house. "Where have you been, Allison? Where did you sleep?" my mother asked in quick succession. She was looking at me intently while cradling my son. "At a friend's place, Mom," I answered briefly. "Your friend must be extremely important for you to leave your child behind and spend the night there." Though her voice was calm, the annoyance beneath it was clear. "It was important, Mom. We were working on a presentation for a new project at the company," I l
DWAYNE'S P.O.V. I couldn't stop smiling because she agreed to let me court her. We shared the little food left on the table and talked about everything going on in our lives. It was already 3:00 AM, but I still had no intention of taking her home just yet because I wanted to be with her longer. "Take me home now, Dwayne. It's almost morning. If I can't go to work tomorrow, it's going to be your fault," she said with a pout. My future girlfriend was truly as cute as could be. "Just go home tomorrow. I'll drive you, even if you decide to skip work," I said with a smile, trying to convince her to stay a little longer. "With a smile like that, I already know where this is heading." Her eyes widened, so I immediately stepped closer to her. I pulled her by the waist and looked directly into her eyes. "You are mine, always mine," I said in a hoarse voice, feeling my body react as heat pooled low in my gut. "Hey! Your friend down there is starting to stand up again. Take me home
