Trampled Upon

The Nightwalker pack mansion was located on the hilltop in the suburbs of Seattle. The car circled up the pacific height’s highway, the sight greenery and serene. The summer air cool from the heavy rain. The misty fresh air rushed into the car as the window rolled down. Creaks of crickets sounding from the nearby forest. Steve Gillian was the only alpha of the Nightwalker pack who lived outside the mansion.

His three older brothers all lived with the rest of the pack in the Nightwalker mansion.

Mr. Gillian cherished his youngest son and bought him a house inside the city. Although this caused an uproar among his brothers, his father did not care. Because of his son's disabilities, the Adolf alpha didn't want his son going to and fro between the city and the Nightwalker mansion. It was a call he made to bring his son peace of mind and to give him the best life could offer but he had in fact totally abandoned him. He never called or even texted, the downside of being the Adolf alpha of the Nightwalker pack.

Steve Gillian understood though, he totally did. He loved his space and was even happy to live separately from the rest of the pack. His life had been really peaceful since he moved out of the Nightwalker pack's mansion at the age of seventeen, he was free from his brothers’ troubles and jealousy. He had been living placid, that wasn't there when he lived with his jerk of brothers that he had.

The car stopped in front of the electronic gate, Tony swiped the security card against the sensor installed at the gate. The door swung open and he drove the car slowly into the Nightwalker estate.

He had not been there since the last year, yet the house looked exactly how it used to be. It was very beautiful since it was located at the top of the mountain - having the perfect view of the whole clan from up here, a rainbow shining brightly over the sky. However, the atmosphere was filled with sadness. The air heavy with depression and melancholy.

The car drove past the parking space in the garden and skidded to a halt directly in front of the villa. This was a privilege only Steven Gillian had, maybe because he was his father’s favourite.

James jumped out of the car to fetched the wheel chair from the trunk and open the rear while Steven waited in the car. Tony handed the beta the car key, and walked over to helped alpha Steve out of the car. James and Tony helped him carefully into the wheelchair. They pushed him through the large marble door. As soon as the chair rolled inside, his brothers were already waiting for him in the foyer.

"Kid brother. you are finally back?" The eldest alpha muttered.

"Haha, dad must still have you by his thumb. Just a phone call from him and you come running back like a puppy." The third alpha mocked. The other laughed.

Steve ignored them but James wouldn’t entertain the insult, his face was red with anger. Even though, the elder three alphas were able bodies and had no disabilities, they still discriminated against the young alpha. Steve looked at James and made a gesture, which indicated to keep moving. He pushed him to the large living room slowly backing his hair politely at the others alpha. he wouldn't have it if courtesy hadn't demanded it.

They didn't acknowledge him. They sat together on the couch looking away from the young alpha.

The elevator ding open and Adolf alpha walked out; the three alphas chorused at the same time. "Dad!"

John Gillian, the old alpha advanced towards them, supported by a stunning figure dressed in a flowing red dress like sunset. She held him so tight that no woman would ever come near him.

She was the Adolf's fourth wife Maya. She had an air of class and carried herself like a Queen. Of course, the Queen of the Nightwalker pack.

The eldest and the second youngest alpha of the Nightwalker pack were born by the first wife of John Gillian, Amy. He was so excited when his first son was born, the joy of finally birthing the heir who would take over after he had passed away but he turned out to be a scum, though his mother passed away just after birthing the second son. The old alpha was pained and grieved so much at the loss of his wife.

Few years later, the patriarch married another wife. The second wife, Dera was a woman of low status, her clan was not recognised. She was the one who birthed the third son.

The third wife; Dominica, Steve's mother was a beautiful actress that John Gillian had met when he went to Switzerland. The old Adolf spent two years courting the famous beauty, totally concealing it from his family. He was always travelling and when asked, he would say he is going for a business trip. Immediately she took in, he brought her back with him to Seattle.

When the second wife found out that she had been cheated on, she was bitter. She did everything to get back at her husband for what he had done to her. The chaos between both wives spreading to their children. The cause of this misunderstanding and controversy could be traced to the old alpha's infidelity. Even when he had grown so old, that he could no longer walk properly. He still married a fourth wife, a you g and beautiful woman, who would take care of him and cater to his needs since his three wives were all dead.

"Is my little hero back?" He asked with a difficulty that came with old age. He smiled brightly as he motioned to Maya who helped him onto the couch, sitting opposite his son. Even though, Steve was in no way little, he remained little to the old Adolf.

The eldest alpha Jack immediately jumped to his feet, serving him his favourite mint tea. The second alpha Jona stacked the old man's back with soft pillows while the third alpha Dan lit cigar for the old man. They were all trying to be relevant or please him so he could transfer his company to any of them. But the old alpha knew better, he knew it was eye service.

Steve sat in his wheel chair watching the scene before him with so much amazement. James dropped a pen and a notebook into Steve’s hand and quietly retreated to the side. The Adolf searched his face for a few moments and asked, "How is your health?"

Steve picked up the pen and paper and wrote "I am fine dad."

Over the years, Steve's answer to any question the old man asked was always a short sentence coupled with the fact that he did not speak much. He communicated more with writing. Even though John Gillian should be offended by such a defiant attitude; he was not, he understood. In fact, that was one of the attributes he loved about him that distinguished him from his elder brothers. Such firm attitude could help him rule one day. Such a pity he was crippled.

John Gillian glanced from Steve to his other sons, shook his head and muttered softly. "The Moonstone pack has a daughter who is eighteen years old this year. Who do you think is eligible to marry her?"

There was a total silence as everyone one tried to think of what to say.

Someone finally broke the silence. "Our eldest brother is already married to his mate and has got kids so he is definitely not suitable. Our second brother is fourteen years older than her and even just got divorced recently, he is not suitable. The most eligible is me; I am single and I’m still in my twenties, he chuckled. I don't see anyone else more suitable than me", he continued.

The eldest alpha casted a disdain look at the third brother who had just spoken.

"Aren't you missing someone?" The second alpha smirked.

"Who are you talking about.... What? Don't tell me you are considering a cripple." He berated. Someone who cannot even walk, how is he going to marry such a fresh girl and even tend to her emotional needs? He laughed sarcastically.

Steve looked at his brother and tears flowed down one of his eyes, he was not surprised but just pained that his own brother was making jest of his situation. James moved to hit him, he could not take the insults anymore. He wanted to beat him up, teach him the lesson of his life but Steve stopped him.

There was chaos everywhere.
