“Sarah…” something began churning in her belly. She pushed Jessica into sitting
“You go” she whispered with head hung low.
“What??? You go, he is your boyfriend”
“You are the reason behind this”
“You know how to handle him”
“Sarah...” she scrunched her face, blinking tight.
“See!!! He wants you” a death glare darted at Jessica before she turned around, revealing only her eye again.
Mike’s brown eyes swirled with glee, twinkling at her although the rest stood stolid. He slipped out his hands from his pocket, wiggling 2 fingers to signal her “Come here…” his calmness doesn’t help her jitter. Her lower lip drew between her teeth. Rustling and shuffling itched the corner of Mike’s ears. He lifts his eyelids, just a smidge. A flustering creature ping-ponged between the bathroom and closet, in just a piece of a fluffy towel wrapped around her chest. The mighty building stood tall, distracting Sarah from the hustle and bustle of worried faces around the courtyard. She had never seen a police station in real life. Anand Mehtra, Suman’s dad was already there, looking rather ragged. He had run up and down doors to get necessary documents aligned for Suman’s bail. The moon consumed the day. Still, Sarah’s eyes fixed at the entry gate, clutching tight to her phone hoping to get a call from Mike. Her wait came to an end at 10 pm. To her disappointment, it is Robert and Jessica. She broke down in tears on Jessica’s shoulder and told them everything that had happened. Robert snapped to Mike and shrugged his shoulder before following Jessica, like a good puppy to her room. His expectation was left to hung when Jessica explained what she had done. It wasn’t long before Mike lost interest in the TV show and switched off to go to bed. 2 pairs of ears were pressing through an inch slit of the open door, next to the master bedroom. Mike paced casually and entered the bedroom next door to hear a muffled scream of Sarah. He quickly closed the door behind and turned on the dim light. Pressure builds up around Suman. Officer Dantey digs up his criminal record. It turns out, there were 3 sexual harassment reports filed against him and then dropped, probably due to the victims being afraid by the Mehtras or paid off to keep quiet. Dantey then contacted some of those victims to find out more. His suspicion was correct, they either were threatened, paid off, or afraid of losing face. In one particular case, Suman’s secretary who had just joined their office was raped twice by Suman, in his room. With the CCTV footage, he threatened her into cooperating with him for the third time. The worst part is, Suman, considered them as willing partners since none of them proceeded with legal action. Dantey also found out that there are possibilities of more girls in her office that didn’t dare to report. &n
