My body felt heavy, I tried to wiggle my toes and failed. What is going on? Slowly the feeling in my feet, then my legs started to come back. And I felt worried? Why would I be worried? What happened? Wait, this isn’t my worry. With that a flood of memories came back to me and I sat up ramrod straight in his bed. Looking around his room, I noticed him asleep in an arm chair that wasn’t in the room before. When did he move that in here? I was probably only out for a few minutes.I moved to get up off of the bed seeing the bathroom to the left of the bed. I felt stiff all over. Looking over at the man sleeping on the chair, a pair of ice blue eyes where looking back at me.“I hope you weren’t planning on trying to run again. The last three days and the bond setting will have weakened you.” I looked at him with my mouth open like a fish. Three. Days?!“What do you mean three days? There’s no way. And I never consented to you marking me. Isn’t it a rule for y’all too that you ask permissi
I had taken an intentionally long shower in the hopes that the weirdness from before would be gone by the time I was out. Looking around the bathroom, I realized I forgot clothes. Sticking my head out the door, he was gone. Slowly I walked out into the bedroom. He could return at any time, I better get dressed quickly. Going into his closet, I found his clothes hung up in perfect color order. All the seams of the pants and sweatpants were on display. Again, I wondered at the neat freak nature he has about him. Grabbing a pair of sweatpants down with a string, I pulled them up to my waist and tied it off. To say they swallowed me, would be the understatement of the year. I had to roll up the pant bottoms to even be able to walk. Looking at the shirts, I found one with the band The Pretty Reckless on it. I love that band. I pulled it on over my head. It looked more like a dress than a shirt on me. Whatever, this will have to do.For a while I sat on the bed and waited for him to return.
Stomping up the steps to the pack house, I could hear someone catching up to me. Turning around I started to speak without looking at the person. “Look, Kade. I’m just going to go up to the third floor and find a room. Please, if you must follow me, give me at least a little space.” Looking up, it wasn’t Kade I was speaking to but Aziel.“What’s wrong with my room?” He questioned me with a puzzled look.“I thought you would be entertaining later and I’d rather not be involved.” I glared at him. Crap. I didn’t think I would still be this mad about the blonde touching him.“What’s that suppose to mean?” He wasn’t getting it or did he want me to spell it out for him. Glaring at him from the top step of the porch, I didn’t know what answer was correct. Fine, if he wants to play games, let’s play.“That beautiful blonde you were speaking to at the practice field. I thought maybe you would want to ask her out on a date.” I said while acting as innocent as possible.“Oh, that really did both
I watched him moved around the kitchen. For someone his size, he moved with the ease of a dancer. His shirt clung to him like a second skin. Hearing a beeping, he pulled his phone from his pocket to check the text message he had received. “What size clothes do you wear?”“Why? I don’t plan on staying here long enough to need new clothes.” I grabbed the knife from him and started dicing the onions he was working on before the text.“If you want to wear my baggy clothes, I don’t mind, but I thought you would like something more your size and comfortable.” There was a smile in his voice, and I could hear the hidden laughter. I guess I did look like I was wearing a circus tent.“Medium top, 34 b bra, medium underwear, and size 8 or medium pants.” I continued to dice the onions. They were starting to make my eyes water. I don’t understand how a plant can reduce me to a mess of tears. Tearing up, I walked to the sink and turned on the water. I felt a warm, strong chest come up behind me. Le
We went out the back door this time. The forest was located about 100 yards away. We walked towards it without talking. When we got to the edge, he turned and looked at me. “Now no trying to run off. I have scouts out in the forest and I don’t think you would be able to get away again with that mark on your neck.” Oh, yeah. My personal homing beacon. I don’t know how I’m going to manage to escape and stay gone with this thing on my neck.“Understood.” Looking towards the trail in front of us, I started to stretch. Feeling eyes on me I looked between my legs while touching the ground. He was looking at my butt. “Do you mind?”Startled, he looked away. “Are you ready to go? I figured we would follow this trail; it loops back around and comes out at the front of the house.”“Sure, let’s get to running.” I took off on the trail and soon heard him following me. Slowly he caught up and we were running next to each other. For about a mile, we ran without talking. After the next rise there wa
We had spent the rest of the day not talking. He told me about his library and I buried my head in a book till he reminded me about the date.Standing in front of the mirror, I stared at my reflection and ran my hands down the dress one more time. No make-up. And a too tight dress. What was I meant to wear on my feet? Finally, I turned and walked out of the bathroom. No one was in the room but there were two shoe boxes sitting on the bed. Reaching for the first one, I found a pair of rather tall black heels. That’s a solid nope unless he really wanted to see me fall on my face. Turning my attention to the second box, I found a pair of ballet flats in black with rhinestones in the shape of a butterfly on them. They were beautiful. Pulling them on, they fit my feet like a glove.Looking around, I gave myself a minute to find my strength to go on with this. I walked out the door and found Aziel standing at the front of the stairs. He had on a button down top, in red to match my dress. So
Aziel had been avoiding me for a week. The night after our date, I heard him stop at the door to the room I chose to sleep in but, soon after he walked away. Kade and I had been spending a ton of time together. It appeared that my guards had become more lax with the news of Liv’s pregnancy spreading around the pack. Kade shielded me from it but the guards we passed, or the pack members who came to the pack house, were all about it. The pack members talked about how quiet their Alpha was being, wondering when they would have the interloper out of their midst. I agreed with them. What was the reason for me staying here if I had been replaced? And while it shouldn’t hurt, it made my heart ache to hear anyone speaking of it.Kade and I were out in the forest again going for a run when we bumped into a very excited Liv. She was practically glowing.“Oh, Beta Kade, wonderful news! They’ll be able to do my first scan today! I was just on my way to tell the Alpha.” She beamed with the news an
I had been sneaking to the kitchen early in the morning to grab enough food for the day. I didn’t want to see anyone, and I didn’t want to be social. I just wanted to be alone until he tells me I can leave. Creeping down the stairs, I made my way to the kitchen. Upon my arrival, I turned on the light and jumped. Sitting at one of the stools at the island was Aziel. His eyes were unfocused, and it appeared he hadn’t noticed that I had turned on the light. Ignoring him, I went about my business.“Are you going to keep avoiding me?” His words were slurred. Clearly someone decided to get into some alcohol tonight. Looking over, he was looking at me with a pleading look.“What is there to say, Aziel? You got someone else pregnant. You should be letting me go, I shouldn’t be here anyway.” I kind of plead with him in the hope that he would change his mind and just let me go. I could leave but I needed the ring, and he would be able to find me with the mark on my neck.“It’s not mine.”“What
