Chapter 2: Arrival

Hikaru

      The flight from Japan to Boston has gone smoothly, and we are nearing the coast of New England. 

     I think back…I was always different. I’m not distinctly masculine or feminine, but there are subcultures in my home country that have normalized this for quite some time now. It is more rare among shifters. I am from a long line of fox shifters, but also a family in which the rare Kitsuné shifter genes pass down. The last Kitsuné was my great grandmother and everyone expected my younger sister to be the next, but when she shifted and was an ordinary red fox like most people wondered at why mine was white, that is until the day the hunter attacked my friend Hiro in the market and when I shifted my fox shook out their tail to reveal the nine tails of Kitsuné. 

     Kitsune are always female and I have a penis, so how is it I am the Kitsune? Father made me leave my beloved job as a DJ in Tokyo and packed me up to Boston and here I am going to live with a pack of wolves in a city that I have never been to. Father has a close ally here who vowed to protect me. He is an Alpha. I am told that Alpha Ryder is a busy man and won’t have much personal time for me, but that I will be well protected with his wolves.  

    I look out the window as we fly over a strip of land and some islands, getting so close to the water that it almost looks as if we will land in the harbor, then the wheels bounce on the pavement as we come in for a landing and taxi into a private gate. My father insisted I fly on a private jet and each leg of my flight has been thanks to one of his alliances. 

    A man nearly twice my height meets me as I walk into the waiting area and I'm ushered to a black SUV. What is this? It’s secret service type stuff? This is crazy!

   We arrive at a large building across from what my phone tells me is Boston Public Garden, and I am shown to a stately penthouse where Alpha Ryder greets me.

    “Hikaru, I am glad you have arrived soundly, your father is a good friend and close ally! I can not stay long but the staff in your penthouse will get you anything you need and I would like to introduce you to your Guard and Protector, Asim Karim. His family have been Luna guards and warriors for my pack for several generations,” Alpha Ryder says in a deep voice as the huge man introduces me to a nearly as large man who is just an inch shorter than the Alpha with mocha skin and long dreadlocks.

    This must be Asim, and he is gorgeous! 

    Alpha Ryder shakes my hand and departs. 

    The moment the Alpha is out the door, a rumble sounds from deep in Asim’s chest and his green eyes glow brighter.

     “Welcome to Silver Claw, Hikaru! You smell divine!” 

    A deep, growly voice comes through those luscious lips that I want to nibble and kiss, sending a shiver down my spine.

     I feel my arousal which I hope is masked by my clothing.

    Asim shakes his head and his eyes return to their normal green and his voice more steady comes forth offering an apology.

     “I am sorry, Hikaru. I don’t mean to frighten you, my wolf is out of sorts. Don’t mind him.”

     “I am not afraid, Asim. It is a pleasure to meet you. I take it you will be by my side day and night?” 

      I will not argue with being in his presence ‘round the clock. I have met one of my mates. As the Kitsuné, I will have more than one, but I do not know how many. I am patient and will await his acknowledgement of the bond, for now.

      “Yes, I am your guard and protector. I suggest you settle in. It looks like this is your new home for the foreseeable future. If you need me, I will be in the living room. At night, you can find me in the bedroom next to yours,” Asim says, his voice as smooth and rich as a fine dark chocolate.

     “I’ll be out once I am settled in, big fella,” I say with a glance over my shoulder and wink as I sashay down the hall, to the room that I saw a servant carry my bags into.

     If I weren’t so tired after that flight, I might try being more actively pursuing my sexy mate. That man is HOT! I hope that at least one mate has a womb, otherwise I might be the last ever Kitsuné. 

   I unpack my clothing and spot my DJ equipment, already set up. How my father got it here faster than he got me here will be a question for a later date. I see an en suite and need a shower! I am sure a shower and dinner followed by the first proper night’s rest I will have gotten in 3 days will help me bounce back to my usual self. 

    “I am taking a shower! Can you order us some dinner?” I call out my bedroom door to Asim, before I walk into the large, luxurious bathroom and strip off my clothing.
