Burning rubber, petrol, smoke, scorched metal. The SUVs screeched to a halt. Before the vehicle had fully stopped, Alex threw the door open and sprinted toward the smoke. "Alex!" Raphael shouted after him. Alex didn't slow down. didn't even look back. Branches lashed across his face. Twigs tore at his suit. His polished shoes sank into the soft earth as he forced his way through the dense bushes. Then... he saw it. Or rather... what remained of it. The elegant white limousine that had been carrying his bride was gone. In its place stood a twisted, blackened shell. The satin ribbons decorating the mirrors had burned away.
