Myles's POV

I slowly glided the car into the driveway and turned the engine off. I sat there for a while and stared at the bungalow before me in silence, contemplating whether I was really doing the right thing.

My hands drummed silently and unconsciously on the steering wheel. I wasn't anxious or anything. I knew I was going against code, but what other choice did I have? I sighed and stepped out of the car.

I carefully approached the door and hit the doorbell, and then stood back and heard it echo within the house. I got no response and was about to hit the doorbell again when the door buzzed and creaked open.

“Hmm, classic,” I muttered under my breath and pushed myself into the house.

The living room was empty, and as far as I could see, there was no one in sight. I wasn't stupid though, I knew he had cameras in every corner and had seen me the moment I turned into his driveway. He was probably watching me now.

I only took a couple of steps before the cold barrel of a gun pushed in

Myles's POV“Hi.” I said awkwardly as I approached.“Oh, Mr Voss.” The doctor replied and was already stretching out his hand for a handshake. “Nice of you to drop by. Big fan of what you do. I'm Doctor Monroe.”He knew nothing about my alter ego, so I took it he meant my daytime profession. I took his hand firmly. Serena looked away like she wouldn't even stand the sight of me.“How's she?” I asked the doctor. I know Serena wouldn't answer if I asked her.“She's going to have to lay off that toe for a couple of days. Gonna have a hell of an ache in it too, but she'll be fine, eventually.”“Thank you, Doctor.” I nodded. “Just doing my job, Mr. Voss.” Doctor Monroe smiled warmly in return. “Now if you excuse me…” He moved past me and was out of the room.Serena still had her back towards me and had suddenly taken an interest in the wall. My heart ached at the sight of her. I had noticed her swollen eyes from the very first moment I entered and it doesn't take a detective to tell that

  • Saint by Day,Sinner by Night   CHAPTER 59

Myles's POVEven as I was on my chopper motorcycle heading towards the clubhouse that night, I just couldn't get my mind off the little episode we had back at the house moments earlier. I really hoped she was fine. The way she limped after kicking that bottle…It was my fault. I admit so, and I was mad at myself. I was angry too. Why was I so jealous whenever I saw her in the company of other males? I noticed that when she was with others, she felt so at ease and joked and laughed freely too unlike when we were together.Surely our contract forbids personal feelings, and that meant she was free to openly date whoever she wanted to date and sleep with whoever she wanted to. I was allowed to do so, but.. I just couldn't bear seeing her happy and laughing with other men!Detective Harry Davies was another problem slowly stepping into the picture. I mean, why does it have to be a detective of all people? With the background check my men ran on Davies, I was aware that Davies was a cop ded

Serena's POVI was in so much pain by now and really had no time to tell the women that I wasn't facing any form of physical abuse from Myles. Being women, they just assumed the worst due to the messy room they were cleaning and my disheveled state, plus, my puffy eyes were the evidence they needed.Marie returned with the first aid kit and carefully set it down on the center table..“What are you waiting for, Marie? Do something, will you?!” One of the women urged out of urgency.“But.. but I don't know a thing about first aid!” Marie protested. “Really?” One of the women exclaimed. “Is there any of us who actually knows something? Anything to do in this situation?”“I.. I don't think she needs first aid more than she needs a doctor now.” Marie pointed at my toe, which was tripling in size already. “She really needs a hospital!”“For Christ's sake, help her up, Marie!” One of the women supported me on one side, and Marie on the other. “I'll get the car ready!” The other woman ran o

Serena's POVI had long decided that I wasn't going to let Myles intimidate me or anything, but the look he gave me right there was enough to make a herd of raging buffalo stop in their tracks and think whether they really wanted to go on with the stampede!“You disobey my orders!” He hissed. “You left the office even though you knew very well that it wasn't safe to do so and you… you… What is this?!” His nostrils flared as he gestured at all the bags the men had brought into the house.“I just made a detour,” I replied, trying to sound as casual as possible. “I realized I needed to go shopping.”“You needed to go shopping.” He scoffed. “What else did you realize you needed to do, to visit the saloon and get your manicure while your boyfriend massages you?!”“Stop being an asshole!” I shouted. “You know there's next to nothing in this cursed house! I needed to go shopping! It was a logical thing to do!”“Oh yeah?” He scoffed again. “Who the hell told you that I want to have anything i

Serena's POVI wheeled around swiftly, and my hand felt for the pepper spray I knew I didn't carry. Within a second, I was already regretting why I had angrily set off alone without the protection that Myles offered. My eyes landed on the person who had spoken to me, and I felt relieved.“Detective Davies, right?” I forced a smile on my face. “Just call me Harry.” He stretched out a hand and I shook his hand warmly. The detective wasn't in uniform. He dressed in a loose Hawaiian shirt with sunglasses clipped to the breast pocket and had a can of diet soda in his hand.“I'm sorry I spooked you.” He apologized. “Didn't mean to do that.”“It's alright,” I replied with a tight nod. “I just wasn't expecting anyone to creep up on me like that.”“My bad.” He held both hands up, feigning surrender. “How's your husband, anyway? How's marriage?”I swallowed hard, and it felt like swallowing a large boulder. Marriage, husband.. these were strange words even for me, but for the sake of my future

Murphy's POVI stood in front of the mirror, adjusting the collar of my cut with the leather jacket bearing the insignia of the Dead Revenants biker gang. My mind was still brooding over the encounter at the restaurant earlier. Myles’ fucking smug face, his calm fucking demeanor, that goddamn arrogance—it burned in my chest the more I thought about all of it. That bastard thought he was untouchable. But he’d learn soon enough. Pain was a great teacher, and it seemed he wanted it.A soft moan from the bed pulled me from my thoughts. I glanced over my shoulder to see Victoria sprawled across the sheets with her naked body glistening from our earlier fuck. She was older than most women I bedded, but probably my very best fuck buddy. She was a proper milf, married to some corporate idiot who probably treated her like an afterthought. But I? I made sure she felt every fucking inch of what she’d been missing.“Leaving already?” she purred as she stretched lazily on the bed with her tits b
