I am still staring at my best friend. I then realize that Emery is the surprise that fucking Curtis was talking about. She looks like shit, and I see a fading bruise on her face. I can only imagine what her clothes are covering. When she sees Dylan, Luke, and Arlo sitting there, fear covers her face like none I have ever seen. Right then and there, I know something terrible has happened. If Curtis shipped her here to me, then shit has gone down. Riley takes her bags from her as I lead her to sit down. She jumps behind me when Dylan starts to come towards me. I look at him and shake my head. I have seen Emery after her piece of shit father has beaten her, and whatever happened is different and much more terrible. She sits down. I tell her to stay and that I will return with something or her to drink. I can tell that she is highly uncomfortable with the guys. I let her take a drink before she starts talking.
