190|Forget The Pancakes

The first thing Natalie saw when she opened her eyes the next morning was the diamond halo ring on her finger. She sat up, rubbed her still sleepy eyes, and checked her hand again, convinced she was hallucinating.

"OH MY GOD!" she screeched her head off when she realised she wasn't hallucinating, startling a still-sleeping Levi awake.

"What is it? What's going on? Is it the twins?"

"No! This!" she held out her hand.

"You don't like it?"

"I love it," she whispered, her eyes suddenly misty. It was the most beautiful ring she'd ever seen—not that she'd seen many—but it literally took her breath away.

As in love as she was with it, though, her conscience wouldn't allow her to wear something so precious and no doubt insanely expensive.

Levi was quick to put her mind at ease, calling over his shoulder as he stepped into the bathroom to do his business. "It's insured."

Natalie was still staring at her finger when he came back.

"Be honest, do you like it?" he asked, plopping down beside her.
