“Why did you do that?” I asked in a calm tone as I equaled his pace.

He turned to me. “Do what?”

“Don’t play dumb, Eli. Why do you have to—”

“Kiss you?” he interrupted and formed a sly smirk on his lips. “Is it your first time—”

“Don’t ever mention it. And it’s not my first time. Don’t be so boastful.”

Hearing that name made my heart thump fast, feeling anxious.

I hate to hear his name. It will only pull me back on those memories they did to me. I don’t want to think about them anymore. I tried to bury those struggles that I had on their side.
