It had been thirty minutes since he called Charlotte and she told him Grace had left work, but she was yet to be home.

“Just calm down, she’s probably somewhere buying something.” Noah told himself as he walked to the door the fifth time that night. It was getting late and the sky was getting darker. It was not the usual nights they had here in town, because the moon was not out, it was darker than it should be for seven o’clock in the evening.

“Where in the world are you, Grace.” He didn’t want to panic, because he might just about lose his mind. Noah had all his life on a path, knowing exactly what he wanted out of life, and that was after going to medical school and becoming a surgeon, he was to get married and have kids, but that dream had evaporated out of him when his fiancée had skipped town.

Not since then, not a single time had he thought of that dream again. In fact, he had just labeled it a pipe dream, something that only happened to some certain kind of people.
