Chapter 6 - Mikey

My father finally got his memory back. However, I just found out that the woman that he had chosen as his Mate, Aunt Dana, turns out to be the twin sister of my biological mother, Lana. To make it worse, I also found out that my adoptive father’s Fated Mate was my biological mother. But because of some fucking prophecy he left her. Knowing all of this information has left me lost and confused.

Who wouldn’t be?

All my life I had been a believer in Fated Mates and hearing what my adoptive father did made me question who he was as a person. The truth is, It makes me question all the things that I believe in and all the things that I know.

My name is Micheal Moonstar, which later changed to Michael Bang. But after five years I found out that my real name was actually Nathaniel Silverstar. The son of the Chosen One (one of the most powerful mages in the region), Lana Starlight, and one of the strongest Alphas in the region, Mikael Seth Silverstar.

Anya and I are already having problems with our long-distance relationship and now this?

I just can’t help but compare my parents with Anya’s parents, my Uncle Drake, and Aunt Athena, especially after knowing the story of how they lost and found each other despite everything that they went through. My parents on the other hand went MIA and my mother’s supposedly Fated Mate left her.

I am in the middle of having an identity crisis not knowing who I really am which complicates everything in my life right now. To make it worse, it has already affected my relationship with the only person that makes my living hell tolerable, my Little Wolf, Anya.

It’s been five years since the last time I saw her face to face. We’ve been holding on and fighting all the negative things that go our way. But after finding out the truth about my birth, things started getting complicated, especially after the last discovery that my father Nori and his Chosen Mate Aunt Dana had.

My parents were alive.

A part of me had thought that it would have been better if they were dead, but I know that makes me a horrible son. Or it would have been better if they were from a pack that I can be proud of. But to find out that they were in Devil’s Moon was a different story.

Devil’s Moon is the lair of all the rogue wolves who became criminals or murderers and finding out that my biological parents were staying there is something I am not proud of or will ever be proud of.

So when my father Nori told me over the phone that they had found my biological parent’s pack and it was in Devil’s Moon, I lost it.

I know that I shouldn’t have told Anya those things but at the same time, I also know that she doesn’t deserve to be part of this mess. I love her so much to drag her down, she deserves better.

‘Which by the way makes you a moron,’ My wolf Hades complains. He had been on the edge since the awful break-up phone call that I gave Anya. I know that I could have at least met her but I know that if I did, I wouldn’t be able to break up with her.

Yes, I know I’m an asshole, but if the momentary pain that I gave Anya would save her from a lifetime of pain and embarrassment then I did the right thing.

‘Stop justifying what you did, because I still don’t agree that you left our Mate!’ Hades hissed.

I sat on the chair on our porch as I continue to torture myself with thoughts of Anya. Wanting to turn back time to when we don’t have to think about anything else but the two of us.

“Are you ready?” My Dad Nori asked.

I am not sure if I am really ready or if I even want to meet my parents. I was fine without them. I was fine because I have Anya. But my father insisted that I should meet them because the truth was that they never abandon me, that I was taken the day my grandfather died.

I look at my dad and nodded.

We left for Devil’s Moon where we met Aunt Dana just outside the border. It was early in the morning but the moment that we come near Devil’s Moon it felt like night because of the dark clouds that always seem to surround the place.

“Are you ready?” She asked.

I wonder why they kept asking if I was ready when in reality what it really meant was, Suck it up!

We walked toward the bushes that lead deeper into the dark forest that was believed to be a haunted one, away from Devil’s Moon. My father and Aunt Dana stopped walking and when I looked in the direction that they both were looking I saw a tall man leaning on a tree in front of us.

I look at my surroundings preparing to see if there was anyone else as I prepare to shift only to find my father walking up to him and giving him a hug.

“Mikey,” my father called me, as he asked me to come closer.

As I stood in front of the man I realize that he was not someone ordinary. I can feel by his aura that he was not an Alpha but still, he held authority enough to tame me.

“This is your Uncle Jericho, your Dad’s right hand,” my father said as he introduce the man in front of me he smiled at me after the introduction and pulled me into a bear hug that almost suffocated me.

“He will bring you to your parents,” my father said, making me turn and look at him.

“You’re not coming?” I asked in confusion and he shook his head no.

“Not everyone has the right to come,” the man name Jericho replied, “We would also know if you really are the son of Luna Lana by doing this.”

“We will wait for you,” my father promised.

“Ready?” Uncle Jericho asked, but before I could wait for his answer he pulled me inside the big tree and continued to walk in the dark for what seemed a minute when a flash of light blinds me.

“So you really are Nathaniel,” Uncle Jericho say as he smiled at me. “Follow me, it’s time to meet your parents.”

I was in awe, how can a place be this beautiful?

All my life I thought that Purple Hill was the most beautiful pack for me. I have visited several other packs when Uncle Drake did his visits and none of them was as beautiful as Purple Hill, well, until now.

I followed Uncle Jericho but can’t help but be amazed at all the things that I passed by.

“We’re here,” Uncle Jericho announced as he turned and look at me, “I know that this is all confusing, but I do hope that you give your parents a chance. They never abandon you, even at the last moment, all they think about is you.”

And with that, we entered a very big-looking house tree. Uncle Jericho walked in and I heard a low deep and husky voice.

“Is that you, Jericho?” He asked.

“Yup,” Uncle Jericho replied.

“You came at the right time,” he continued without looking at us, he was busy cooking, “Can you have a taste? Do you think he would like this–” He stopped the moment that he saw me.

I couldn’t help but smile.

I have always had an image of what my Dad would look like since I found out that they were in Devil’s Moon. In my head, he was this ruthless and vicious man exuding death at every angle. Never had I imagined that I would see my Dad as a tall, bulky man wearing a pink apron that was obviously too small for him.

“Nathaniel,” he said as a smile appeared on his face.

“I think, Mikey will like what you have prepared, but I think he would love it more if I continue cooking,” Uncle Jericho said as he took the saddle from my father’s hand and helped him remove the pink apron.

“Yes, yes,” he said.

“You’ve grown so tall,” was the first thing my father told me as he smile. My father, Nori told me that they were just the same age as him. But seeing my Dad now, I can see that he never had it easy. He looks older than his age if my father was correct. I can see the lines beside his eyes but despite it, he was still good-looking.

“Sorry,” my Dad apologize, “I have always dreamed of meeting you again. I actually have practiced what to tell you. But seeing you here in real life just felt surreal and I am blabbering. We still have time before Jericho would finish what he is cooking. And I know you have a lot of questions, and just like me, I know you don’t know where to start. So why don’t we start with you meeting your mom?”

I nodded in agreement.

He was the opposite of my father. He was calm and composed. He was also patient and kind. He leads me to the second floor of the house and walks to the end of the small hallway. He opened the door for me to enter and the moment that I saw my mother who seemed to be in a deep sleep. Memories came rushing to me. I saw her and my Dad. I heard her telling me that she loves me. I saw her fight for me and I saw how I was taken away. I fell on my knees tears falling from my eyes. My hate for her and my Dad was replaced with guilt.

“Son,” my Dad called out and I look at him. They never abandoned me, they love me. My Dad helped me up and we both closer to my Mom.

“Baby,” my Dad whispered as he kneeled down beside my mom. “Nathaniel is home. He’s finally home, you should come back and wake up. He’s here now.”

My heart broke at the sight of my Dad. And it made me realize how much he loves my Mom.

He asked me to sit beside him and let me hold my Mom’s hand and felt her warmth. I know this feeling, I felt it once before. And I felt my anger dissipates as tears began to fall from my eyes as the longing for my mom becomes stronger than my questions.

We stayed like that for a little longer before Uncle Jericho told us that the food was ready. At first, we ate in silence until my Dad broke it.

“Nori told me that you have found your Mate and it was Drake’s daughter,” he said, “I believe that you will finally seal the mate bond once she shifted. Drake and I used to talk about it and I can’t believe that it is finally happening.”

“No, it’s not,” I said unable to look him in the eye.

“What do you mean it’s not?” My Dad asks.

“I broke up with her,” I replied, “before coming here.”

“Why?” He asked sounding confused.

I look up at my Dad and anger rose as I can feel the anger that Hades feel.

“Because I thought you were the Alpha of Devil’s Moon!” I shouted angrily, “How can I face her when my Dad turns out to be the pack leader of all the rogues that attacks Purple Hill? How can I face her and tell her that my adoptive father left my mother and chose her twin sister because of some prophecy even though she is his Fated Mate?”

“Nathaniel, calm down,” Uncle Jericho said and I turned at him angrily.

“My name is Mikey!” I shouted back.

“Your Mom, your Aunt Dana, your father Nori, and I are sorry for what you have gone through. But to be fair, your father did what he did to save your Mom. As for your Mom and I, we are Fated Mates too.”

“Wait, what?” I asked confused.

“We don’t exactly know how it happened or how but yes, we are Fated mates. And when your father found out that he wanted your mom back, it was already too late,” my Dad explains, “I am sorry for the mistakes that we did, and to correct you I was never the Alpha of Devil’s Moon. I would never do anything that would hurt Purple Hill. They are family. I never knew Devil’s Moon existed until recently when you Uncle Jericho started checking the outside world. We are in hiding son, until your Mom wakes up again, we can’t be found. I am not sure if having Devil’s Moon was part of it but surely it was not us who created it.”

“There’s a lot of things that you still don’t know and we can tell you about it,” Uncle Jericho offered.

There were so many things that I wanted to know but there was only one thing that was focused on, and that was Anya.

“I need to go,” I said as I started to walk toward the door.

“Son,” my Dad said as he reached for my shoulder making me turn and look at him, “If it helps, tell Drake that I need him to fulfill his promise. But make sure to tell him that when it’s only the two of you. Your Uncle Jericho will come along with you.”

“I don’t need a bodyguard,” I replied irritably.

“I know you don’t,” he replied as he gave me a sad smile, “But you can’t exit and enter this place without him. And I would really want to see you again.”

I never bother to answer back and just followed Uncle Jericho outside where my father and Aunt Dana were waiting.

“Mikey,” my father Nori said, “Did you really break up with Anya?” he asked.

They now know that we’ve broken up. I know Anya won’t tell them unless needed. I opened my phone and found several missed calls and even texts.

I started calling Anya’s number but she was not answering.

“Can you drive me to Purple Hill or do I need to run there?” I asked my father who was shocked at my attitude but I have no time to waste. I need to see Anya.

I was getting ready to shift when my father told me that he would drive me. While driving Uncle Jericho filled my father with what had happened. I continue to try calling Anya but she never answers.

I know that I wouldn’t make it to Purple Hill for her Birthday and knowing the urgency Aunt Dana did the impossible. She teleported us to the nearest place she could come up with. We entered Purple Hill and we were told that the party has already started.

I reached the venue and found Anya on the stage looking so beautiful as always. But something else caught my attention and it was the blonde-haired guy standing behind her. I can feel Hades' anger towards the guy and me.

I watch as everyone rose from their seats and clapped their hands as they greet Anya. As the greetings died a smile appeared on Anya’s beautiful face.

“Thank you for taking the time to attend my birthday. As you all know, aside from my birthday, there is another thing that I wanted to celebrate and that is my Chosen Mate,” Anya said as she pause smiling. That’s when I realize how much I miss her. Why did I wait that long to see her? Why did I tell her that I can live without her?

“Without further adieu, I want everyone to meet my Chosen Mate, Dean Kieth, better known as DK. The future Alpha of Silver Mountain pack,” Anya announced and everyone stood and clap their hands as ugly looking moron named DK walks handsomely towards Anya.

I froze.

Anya found someone else.

“Are you just going to stand there and let someone else claim her?” I turned to see who the fuck is talking and was surprised to see Uncle Jericho.

“She doesn’t want me anymore,” I said as I look down. Uncle Jericho laughed but the cheers around us were louder than his laughter.

“You are really your Dad’s son,” he said, “Your Dad said the same exact thing to your mom. And he almost lost your Mom. Sometimes, being considerate is really being inconsiderate. Because I doubt that Anya would love someone that fast.”

I looked at Anya, I love her so much and I know that we are in this mess because of my stupidity.

“Ask yourself,” Uncle Jericho continues to say, “Would you really be happy to see her in someone else’s arms?”

“We have known both of you and we just wish for your happiness,” Aunt Athena said.

“Your mother may be gone but I know that she smiling down on you, my son. Don’t forget everything that we have taught you about how to love and take care of your Mate, Fated or not,” the man that seemed to be the father of the ugly-looking moron said.

“Little Wolf,” Uncle Drake said, “Just do what makes you happy.”

“This is a celebration,” Uncle Drake said laughing as he tries to lighten up the mood, “With that being said, let’s raise our glasses as we congratulate the future Alpha and Luna of both Purple Hill and Silver Mountain pack.”

Everyone cheered and that’s when I realize that what Uncle Jericho said was true. I can’t let anyone else have Anya. She is my Mate and mine alone.

“I object,” I shouted as I rushed towards the center aisle in front of the stage.

“If there is someone who’s supposed to claim Anya, it should be me.”
