Ethan POV

“Ethan.”

His voice was a deep resounding echo in my heart, that froze me at sight. His hand closed over mine, shutting the book with a definitive thud.

“Ethan.”

He said my name again, the single word much sharper, colder than before, drawing the tension to an even much chocking

I swallowed my breath as the thrums of my heart echoed even louder, “Yes.”

“Let go.”

“What?” I muttered, my entire system now a nervous mess, as I felt a rush of flush on my face.

“The book Ethan,” his voice dropped to a low whisper, his breath now drowning in my ears, sending shivers over my skin, “Let go now.”

The command snapped me right out of my daze, I instantly released my grip on the book, as though I had just been burnt.

“Right… sorry,” I mumbled underneath my breath, as I prayed he would step back now and break this suffocating tension between us.

But he didn't, his gaze shifted, now fixed on me, as he slowly set the book aside, my eyes looking away from his very direction, as I could
