Ethan POV

Her words hung in the air, so absurd they short-circuited my brain. His boyfriend? What in god’s name gave her that idea?

And wait a minute… she knows he is gay, and she is cool about it? Well, ain't that nice.

“Ethan, dear, are you here?” her sharp words snapped me right back.

“Yes, ma'am…” I managed, still trying to assess the situation, as my eyes flustered.

“You don't have to be shy, I only wanted to ask when my grandson became such a good person to deserve you,” she smiled, a warm genuine feeling.

A low chuckle from Stefan drew my gaze. He was leaning against the door frame, looking utterly entertained. Of course, he was. He wasn’t about to lift a finger to correct her.

“Oh, I’m… I’m not his boyfriend,” I stammered, forcing a nervous laugh.

Her eyes widened in shock, “Ohh really?” she asked in disbelief as she looked at both Stefan and I.

“Yes, I'm his roommate, that's all,” I clarified, with a smile, “But I'm curious to know why you thought I was his date.”
