Chapter 55

Helen glanced at me suggestively. To her, I was probably the only roadblock stopping them from doing the project. I knew there was nothing I could do to stop this now. Even Helen had been convinced by Annie's deceitful tongue, what more could I say?

“You can have it your way!” I replied firmly. I walked out of the room and I was followed by Sally. I stopped right outside and I could hear Annie still talking to Helen.

“Leave her,” Helen was saying. “Maggie just needs time to think about it. I will speak to her later too.”

“What if she opts out?” George asked.

“We would have no other choice. She has to be replaced then,” Helen answered. I clenched my fists as I heard this. I walked away before they would realize that I was still at the door. Sally was right behind me but she didn't utter a word, at least not until we were out of the building.

Sally had contacted a chauffeur and we were waiting for him. There, she looked at me carefully.

    Amelia drove me to the place where I was shooting my first scene. I had memorized my lines and even done practice with the other actors but I was still nervous. After all, I had never been involved in something so big like this. On the way, I saw Amelia keep glancing at me. “Focus on driving only. It's best for the safety of both of us,” I told her calmly. “I understand,” she replied. “However, I think you need to lighten up. It's your first shoot and I know you have high hopes for it.
