Malric

I stormed into Marla's hut the next morning.

My mind had been wrestling with every single word Nyari had said to me before leaving the coven. I hadn't waited for Marla to return with Cain the previous day. I was done with training at that point. Marla should be working on a way for us to get Alruin back, but instead, anything I saw her, she was meditating. What the hell was that supposed to do?

She wasn't in her hut when I walked in and for some reason, this only made my anger boil even hotter. I stormed out and headed towards the stream to find her and a few other witches practicing some spells. I was so impatient that I thought about barging in on them and excusing her, but fuck this. I didn't want to appear hotheaded. All those fucking hours I spent with Cain in that cave would seem like a waste. I had no idea what everyone here meant by having peace with one's self. How could I do that when Alruin was trapped in a damn portal?

Lyra"You didn't tell me anything about a witch joining the team." Lorak said with a frown, "I don't fuck with witches."I rolled my eyes, "Slow your roll, Lorak. She is very important for this mission now." I said, "and how the hell do you expect to take down those beasts without a witch's help?"He shrugged, "I couldn't care less about those beasts, Lyra," he replied flatly and squinted at me, "besides, you do not look like you have any plans of stopping those beasts anyway. I can see it very clearly, past that smoke screen you use expertly to fool people, Lyra." He chuckled lightly and my heart clenched, he would actually tell! "This witch, is she going to give you the power to control them?" I glanced behind me and frowned at him, "You really have your way, don't you, Lorak?""Again, I am a man with direct motives, Lyra. I do not give a fuck about pack politics, or the beasts or the damn witches. I just want to see Alruin again and make sure Malric pays for the shame he brought

Malric"You need to learn to channel your energy properly," he said calmly, squinting at my biceps. "Come on, you are contracting your muscles too much. You need to relax your mind and your heart, Malric."I struggled to keep my eyes shut because in that dark space, I could hear Alruin's voice and feel his presence. It had been three days since I returned from the portal, three days without Alruin and Marla only insisted that I kept on training with Cain. We never dueled, we used no weapons whatsoever. It was just these stupid breathing exercises that were supposed to help me regulate my blood pressure. I groaned in frustration, I had never struggled to learn something for so long. I had prided myself in being the perfect prodigy for grasping onto everything I learned first hand...but this. I opened my eyes when I could feel Alruin's presence beside me. I turned around sharply, my heart racing, but there was no one else aside from Cain and I in the coven. I sighed and cussed under

MalricI stared at Marla in disbelief."What do you mean his time has elapsed? It can't, Alruin is not back!" I bellowed at her and when I turned around, the portal had disappeared. I gasped and looked at her in shock. "What the hell does this mean? What about Alruin? How do we get him back now?" "Malric," she reached forward and touched my arm, causing a strange, yet relaxing cool to spread throughout my body. "I need you to relax for moment. Alruin...he didn't heed to the warning, Malric. He chose to stay there with whatever he saw.""That's not possible. I spoke to him. We said we'd come back to each other, Marla-" I swallowed hard, my words suddenly choking me. I shook my head in disbelief, tears suddenly gathering at the back of my eyes when I realized that I might never see Alruin again. "What did he see there? What did he see that was worth throwing away everything on this side away, Marla. Tell me!" She shook her head grimly, "I do not know the visions you see in the

Lyra"Stay behind, Eli." I said, cradling the red amulet in my palm."I don't know, Lyra. You're going to see some strange witch that reportedly kills anyone that gets close to her. I don't think it will be safe for you to go there alone." He replied adamantly, "I will come with you."I turned around and placed a hand on his chest. "Stop, Eli. You do not have to keep protecting me like I am some child. I know how to handle myself," I said sternly, "and I know this might sound crazy, but trust me, without this amulet, you are the one who is in danger, not me." He grunted with a frown and said, "Just scream if you need me, I won't be too far off."I smiled at him and proceeded towards the mountains. The path was deserted as usual, but the trees that had fallen were kept aside and the overgrown bushes blocking the path had been neatly trimmed. My father had revealed to me that Andralita wouldn't let go of the spell unless I had something to use against her. Itr wasn't the amulet, but a

MalricI never thought my father could look so young, but there he was, with his jet-black hair falling to his shoulders and a perfectly trimmed goatee which he stroked from time to time. I recognized the Alpha next to him as Lyra's father and this only made me wonder just how far back in time I had gone. They couldn't be anything over thirty at this point. Behind them, was an entire pack that had been brought down to ruins. Buildings had collapsed, blood all over the dusty ground like a red matteress. Children and women, all covered in dust and dirt were seated at a distance behind them. I edged forward, confused as to what was going on. Th children stated wailing, their mothers desperately trying to keep them quiet while tears ran down their cheeks. I stood behind a tree, and watched a guard run towards my father. "Another pack has been destroyed by the witches. A total population of over five hundred people, only four hundred and ninety one bodies have been accounted for." He
