I was bored to death in the meeting.

It was already exhausting having to deal with Malric’s council, and his controlling father, but having to do it alone? With only the aid of his Beta? I sighed with relief when the meeting finally concluded. There was said to be a problem at the resort where the training was taking place and each pack was briefed on the issue at hand.

The elders worried for Malric’s safety, but his father never showed any emotion, not even an iota of remorse for encouraging him to undertake a mission so dangerous. I feigned a sympathetic look whenever the elders glanced at me. It was my idea anyway and I was certain that most of them were already silently putting the blame on me. I had my reasons for suggesting that he went there, but that was a secret no one else could know, except for the huge personal bodyguard standing behind me; he knew everything about me.
