I saw the figure when my eyes could finally pick out things in the darkness.

He had my wrists tied and my feet fretted by the same rope. He didn’t even bother to put a gag in my mouth, but I could taste the sweat on his palm still. I grimaced with disgust and spat out. He didn’t even glance back at me. He was a giant of a man and when my blurry gaze finally cleared, I felt a rapid surge of fear through my body. Why was a man this huge coming after me? Who the hell was he in the first place?

I squinted at the dagger-shaped tattoo on his neck and strained my memory to remember where I could have possibly encountered this man. My head throbbed from thinking so hard and I gave up. I was so certain I had never met him before, so why was he coming after me? Could it…fuck! My heart palpitated with fear as a sudden thought occurred to me. Could this man have been sent after me by Lorak?
