Adrian

"Why did you even bring her?" Issac's voice was low but strained, like he was trying hard to hold back frustration. "You know she could mess up our chances of proving ourselves in this..."

"It's not that deep," I cut in, my tone firm but dismissive.

Issac ran a hand over his face and sighed heavily. "You keep saying that, but you need to remember this whole event is hosted by the Moonridge Pack. It’s Cole’s territory. We can’t afford to make stupid choices, not now."

He had a point. I'd brushed off the politics behind the Pack Games, avoiding unnecessary connections with the other Alphas. I never cared for their alliances or ceremonies. But maybe I should’ve paid more attention.

"I get it," I replied finally, keeping my voice even.

The opening ceremony began with the traditional rituals that had bound our kind for generations. Each Alpha was given a moment to step forward and formally signal the start of the Pack Game

AdrianThe Blackwood Pack’s den throbbed with energy, a constant flow of letters pouring in from another pack. Each one echoed with curiosity and concern—questions about Alaina Mayers. Who was she, really? What did she mean to us?The parchment messages piled high on my desk, ink still fresh, each sentence feeding the growing storm of speculation among the wolves. Her name carried weight now. It stirred both reverence and unease. Even in the privacy of my thoughts, I couldn’t escape the fascination she stirred within me.Alaina had always been hard to read—quiet, composed, yet deeply enigmatic. I used to summon her with a snap of my fingers, treating her like an afterthought. A beautiful distraction, nothing more. Or so I told myself. But even then, there had been something beneath the surface—something elusive that refused to let me forget her. When she earned a new rank in the pack, it caught everyone’s attention. The title itself wasn’t im

  • Scarred By The Moon   CHAPTER 26: Silent Moves

FreyaDespite hiring the best hunter in our pack to take her down and finally end her pathetic little crusade, that bitch Alaina managed to escape.Unfortunate.And deeply infuriating. For days, I could barely sleep, haunted by the thought that she was still out there, alive, breathing the same air, threatening everything I had fought for.Everything I had taken.FLASHBACK“The Pack Games is today,” I whispered, fingers weaving through Cole’s dark hair, letting the silky strands slide through my touch like water. He was lying in bed, relaxed, calm, smiling lazily as if nothing in the world could touch us.But it could. And it would. If she showed up.His face brightened slightly at the mention of the Games. “I might see Alaina—”“She’s a rogue!” I snapped before I could stop myself, the sharpness of my voice slicing through the moment. I instantly winced, swallowing hard. “I’m sorry,” I mu

Cole"Alaina catches the most dangerous rogue..." The words tasted like venom on my tongue as I paced across the room, my hand pressed tightly against my forehead. Frustration built like a fire in my chest. I could feel the blood pounding in my ears, a steady reminder of the humiliation I couldn’t shake off.Freya stood by the edge of the window, her posture tense as she tried to calm me down. Her voice was soft, almost pleading. "You need to breathe, Cole. She's not that successful..."I spun around sharply. "I’m dead to my father!" I hissed, my voice rising. "You don’t get it, Freya. He’s going to think I’m weak. He’ll twist it all, like I let her outshine me, like I gave her the spotlight just to spite him."I clenched my jaw and stared out the window, fists tight at my sides. The image of Alaina standing victorious, cheered by the very wolves who once doubted her, made my skin crawl.Freya stepped closer, her hands gently cupping

The Pack Games had come to an end, yet I couldn’t shake the unease clinging to me like a shadow. Despite the cheers and the praise, fear had settled deep in my bones, refusing to let go.As we returned to the Blackwood Pack territory, something had shifted. The energy in the air felt different—stronger, more united. The pack was warmer toward me now, as if the shared danger had woven invisible threads between us. I had earned a measure of their trust. Even Adrian, slow as he was to offer it, had begun to let down his guard around me.Still, the sense of peace was fragile. A whisper of dread lingered in my chest, refusing to be drowned out by the celebration.I wandered into the pack’s expansive kitchen, away from the laughter and music outside. The festivities raged on, but I couldn’t bring myself to join. The silence in the kitchen was a strange comfort, giving me space to breathe, to think—to remember.“Still sad?” a voice asked, cutting th

I returned to the Grand Meadow venue still gripping the rogue’s severed head, its weight a grotesque reminder of what had just transpired. The moment I stepped into view, the crowd froze. Confusion rippled across most of their faces, but then, like a spark igniting dry leaves, The Blackwood Pack erupted into wild celebration. Cheers erupted from every direction, echoing across the open field with thunderous pride. But I couldn’t feel any of it.I stood at the center of their praise, hollow and numb. The head in my hands felt unreal, like a prop from a nightmare I hadn’t yet awakened from. Everyone else saw triumph, but all I felt was the phantom touch of the rogue’s claws, the coppery scent of blood, and the roar of survival thundering in my ears.On the main stage, Jayson stared down at me with an unreadable look, but it quickly twisted into scorn.“Well, would you look at that,” he drawled. “Some random girl did it.” His mocking laughter fo

AlainaIts roar splits through the trees, shaking the air and freezing my blood in place.“He’s targeting you because he thinks you’re the weakest,” Edith growled inside my head, her voice laced with anger and fear. The corrupted energy pouring off the rogue wolf wraps around me like smoke; dark, unnatural and suffocating.I instinctively take a step back.“You can’t run,” Edith hissed. “If you do, he wins.”I feel the shift trying to stir in me. My instincts scream to transform, to fight back, but it won’t happen. I can’t shift. Not yet.“Shit,” I mutter, my voice tight.“You’re a disgusting excuse for a rogue,” I spit toward the creature, though the sound of my voice is drowned out by another deafening roar. Still, I don’t retreat. I can’t. I shouldn’t be able to catch him, but I have to.And he knows. He can feel that I’m different. That I’m not like the others. That I have no wolf to protect me.
