“I’ll make Damian pay for everything. I

Iwhispered to myself as I stepped out of the hotel’s glass doors, the cold night air slapping my face with sharp clarity.

My heels echoed against the pavement as I hurried to the car. I didn’t look back ,not at Damian, not at Ava, not at the mess I was leaving behind on that polished hotel floor. Let them sit in their silence and choke on the truth Damian hid for years.

I slid into the driver’s seat with trembling hands. My chest felt tight, my throat burning, my eyes stinging with tears I refused to let fall. I started the engine and pulled away from the hotel, the neon lights blurring into streaks of blue and gold through my vision.

My mind went wild.

Everything that had just happened played on repeat in my head like a cruel movie I couldn’t turn off.

I could hear Damian's voice

“I had a vasectomy.”

And Asha word to us

“I’m pregnant… for you.”

My own voice echoing back at me:

“You made a decision that affects both of us, and you hid it?”

The oxygen mask was suffocating, but it was also a shield. It allowed me to hide the grimace of fear that kept wanting to twist my face. I was staring at the ceiling, feeling every bruise from the minor wreck I’d actually been in,the one I’d staged to cover the real mess.Lydia was perched on the edge of the chair, looking utterly worn out. The relief in her eyes when I "woke up" had been a shot of pure, powerful adrenaline."You really scared me, Damian," she murmured, her voice rough with fatigue.I managed a dry, painful whisper past the edge of the mask. "I... I know. I'm sorryShe shook her head slowly, looking at her hands. "Don't apologize for surviving. Just tell me what happened. The police report was so vague. For a seconds I thought I had lose you “"It's... hazy," I rasped. "I remember the lights. Too fast. Trying to swerve. Then... pain. And the smell of smoke." I paused, forcing a shudder. "I just... crawled out. I didn't want to die alone on the side of the road. I want

The hospital room was too bright.so aggressively clean, as if the world was trying to scrub away the ugliness of what brought me here. Bleach and fear sank into my lungs with every breath.I sat there, hands clasped together like a woman of faith, even though my heart had turned into something colder. How did everything I planned so perfectly flip on me like this?My thoughts were an ugly knot.I was Lydia the wronged wife, the calculating wife, the silent one, the wife who was supposed to be winning. I should have been laughing in some dark corner while his empire cracked one tile at a time.Instead, I sat in a hospital waiting room like a woman begging for crumbs from fate.A small voice in my head whispered, Was this what revenge looked like? waiting for a man who betrayed me?then,a soft Intentional tap brought me back to reality.I opened my eyes and saw Rachel.Of all people.“Ma’am…” she breathed, eyes wet, voice tight. “We heard the news. I rushed here. How,how is the boss?”

I was close to the dining table when a sudden thought flashed across my mind,I had forgotten to send Ava the message.I stopped mid-step, turned sharply, and rushed back to my room.My hands worked quickly, almost on instinct. I snatched my phone from the vanity, unlocked it, and navigated straight to the blocked accounts list. There she was.I hit unblock without hesitation. My pulse thudded heavily as I opened our chat.Let’s meet tomorrow.I typed the words calmly, then followed them immediately with the location.A second later, her silent beep came through.“Okay.”I stared at the single word and exhaled with a faint, bitter smile.“Ava was never tired of anything,” I murmured. “She was meant to ruin me.”I dropped my phone gently on the vanity table and headed back out to the dining area. The house felt unusually still, as if it were holding its breath along with me.“Give me bruised pork for dinner,” I said to the chef as I walked past.He nodded, turning toward the kitchen.I l

From the moment I sat at the table, with Ava across from me and Damian beside me, I could feel the tension weaving through the room, alive. The dim, golden lighting inside NEW Age Suites cast soft shadows on Ava's face, highlighting the confident smirk she kept trying to hide behind polite expressions. Underneath her carefully arranged features, her nerves betrayed her. I could almost hear her heartbeat, rising and falling in uneven waves. She looked composed, but the truth was written in every tiny tremor she fought to control.I crossed my legs slowly and placed my hands on the table. Ava cleared her throat in an exaggerated, almost theatrical way. The sound irritated me, yet I kept my face still, my breathing calm. If she was waiting for me to react first, she would wait forever.Damian had no such patience.“Speak. We do not have all day,” he said, his tone sharp enough to cut through the heavy silence.Ava’s lips parted in a small smile. The smile had no warmth. It was provocativ

The anticipation leading up to the meeting at NEW age suites consumed me. I spent the day in a state of nervous energy, alternating between pacing the confines of my apartment and staring out the window, watching the city go by. Every rustle of leaves, every distant siren, sent a jolt of anxiety through me. I replayed every detail of my plan, examining the potential outcomes, preparing for every contingency. My sanity hinged on the execution of this plan, the success of this meeting. The hotel itself was a monument to opulence and discretion. Its dimly lit corridors, its hushed atmosphere, were the perfect setting for the clandestine meetings I envisioned. NEW age known for its privacy and its air of sophistication, was a place where secrets could be exchanged, where deals could be made, and where reputations could be forged or destroyed. Its luxury, however, was not the kind that brought comfort, as it mocked the fragile control I struggled to maintain. As the appointed hour drew ne
