Chapter 1

Author: Silvereen
I read the post again.

[My oldest son has been lazy and selfish since he was a kid. He got lucky on the SATs, made it into an Ivy League school, and ended up marrying into a wealthy family.]

[His wife just had a baby, and he does nothing at his in-laws' house—just coasts along as a stay-at-home husband.]

[My precious younger son, though—he's sensible and well-behaved. He just got back from a top university abroad, with perfect manners and upbringing. He's way more deserving of this rich in-law family.]

[I want my oldest son to divorce her and hand his place over to his younger brother. How should I do it?]

Every word felt like a needle stabbing into my eyes.

My hands started shaking. The IP address was local.

My wife had given birth just seven days ago—she was still in her postpartum recovery.

My younger brother, Kyle Miller, had just come back from the UK last month. He'd even asked me to help him find a job.

That tone. Those phrases. Even the way she said "girl."

It was exactly like my mother, Sharon Wilson.

"No… it can't be… no way…"

My lips went dry, but my heart was pounding like it might explode.

I opened the message my mom had sent.

It was a photo. Emily was in a man's arms, the two of them pressed close together.

I stared at it for three seconds and immediately knew it was AI-generated.

After all, no normal person has six fingers.

Below it was a voice message. "Jason, take a look!"

My mother's voice burst through the quiet of the late-night room.

"Do you think Emily is cheating on you? Don't be an idiot!"

Right after that, she forwarded an article: [Never Forgive a Cheating Woman: Once Unfaithful, Forever Unworthy.]

Every word pushed me to get a divorce as soon as possible.

I gripped my phone, a chill running through my entire body.

Ever since I was little, my mom had told me that our family wasn't well-off. As the older brother, I had to shoulder more responsibility. So after graduating high school, I never asked them for another cent.

I covered the household's daily expenses. When my father fell ill, I paid for the surgery. When the house back in our hometown needed renovation, I put in twenty thousand. When Kyle went abroad for school, with forty thousand a year in tuition, I supported him for three years.

All this time, I thought I had a happy family. Only now did I realize—it was nothing but a bloodsucking pit.

I gave them everything, and now, they wanted to tear my family apart.

My fingers felt ice-cold as I reopened the post.

The original poster had updated it just one minute ago.

[Thanks, girl, for the suggestion. I've already done it. Now I'm just waiting to see how my oldest son responds.]

The comments below were filled with people cursing her cruelty.

She didn't reply to a single one.

I stared at that update, and suddenly, I laughed.

'Fine. If you want to put on a show, I'll play along.'

My phone buzzed again. It was another long voice message from my mom.

"Jason, did you see it? I've been through this before. Once a woman cheats, you can't take her back. You need to start making moves now!"

Her voice was urgent and pressing.

Kyle also stood up.He looked at Emily, still clinging to the fantasy that she might show him even a trace of sympathy. But she didn't even glance at him. With a slight gesture of her hand, three lawyers in sharp suits walked in from outside."Sharon Wilson and Kyle Miller. Our client, Jason Miller, hereby officially files both civil and criminal private prosecution against you."The lawyer's voice was clear and calm."The evidence in this case is conclusive. We will be requesting the court to impose a heavier sentence."Kyle stood frozen on the side, his face drained completely of color. My mother collapsed to the ground."Jason… Mom was wrong… I'm sorry… Please withdraw the case, okay? Mom will apologize… I'll kneel if I have to!"I looked at this woman who gave birth to me, raised me, and yet had tried so desperately to destroy me."Mom, over the years, I've done everything I could. I owe you nothing."I glanced at them one last time, then turned and left with Emily.…

You've always been petty since you were young, and now you've become even more vicious!""Just give Kyle some money as compensation and let this end."As I listened, I thought back to my childhood. These relatives had always st

It wasn't until the police arrived that the farce finally came to an end. That night, videos of Kyle spread like wildfire across every group chat.[Shocking scandal at a postpartum center! I treated him so well growing up… how could he…"Emily fell silent for a moment, then said, "Jason, not every kindness gets returned. It's not worth it for someone like that."I closed my eyes.Yeah. Not worth it.…The next day, my mother came looking for me again. He

Footsteps faded away. The front door opened and closed again.Only Kyle and Emily were left in the living room."Emily, you just had some wine. Feeling hot?"Kyle's voice drew closer."Let me help you take off your coat, okay?"The sound of fabric rustling grew faster, more urgent.I pressed my ear tightly against the door, my heart pounding violently.…Suddenly, the door was pulled open from the outside.I jolted.Emily stood at the doorway, holding an empty wine glass. She looked at me, the corner of her lips slightly raised."He really did try to drug me. Good thing you were prepared."I peeked out and saw Kyle collapsed on the sofa, completely unconscious.I whispered, "Is that guy here yet?"Emily nodded."My assistant said he saw him downstairs. Let's move."We picked up the baby and slipped out immediately.Just as we reached the elevator, the doors opened. A young man in a cheap suit stepped out, his hair dyed yellow. His gaze was evasive, his steps unsteady.

"Besides, what belongs to him was always meant to be yours. What's wrong with taking it?" my mother said.Kyle's eyes lit up as if ignited. He nodded hard at my mother."Mom, I'll do whatever you say!"The two of them quickly wrapped up their discussion.I turned off the surveillance feed.Emily clutched her chest and looked at me, her face pale with shock."What… are they trying to do?!"Judging from what we'd just heard, it was obvious. They were planning to force it—get what they wanted and turn it into a done deal.Emily stood up and reached for her phone."I'll have my assistant assign us more bodyguards."I stopped her. A plan began forming in my mind."Why don't we play along," I said slowly, "and put on a show for them instead?"Her eyes immediately brightened."How?"I leaned close and whispered the plan into her ear.The more she listened, the higher the corners of her lips lifted."Honey," she murmured, "you're really naughty."I raised an eyebrow."Learne

What's with the S?"I let out a tired breath."Forget it. We'll just have to take this one step at a time."Around nine that night, my mother sent another message: [Jason, have you figured out what to do yet?]I sent a voice message back, "Mom… no. I don't want a divorce. I love her…"My mother replied instantly, "Sigh! You foolish son! But if you really can't let her go, I do have a method."Just confront her and give her the cold shoulder for a few days. She'll definitely regret it and come crawling back to you!"She even forwarded a random article from some public account: [Be Ruthless as a Man or Lose Your Place — Three Ways to Handle a Cheating Wife.]I pretended
