The man quickly pounced on her and offered a fatal punch to her stomach, making her gasp for air as she fell on the cold hard ground.
"Arghhh!" she screamed in pain as he quickly dragged her hair
"I'm going to have fun watching you die, little Alpha," the man whispered into her ear.
She felt as though her heart was about to come out through her mouth. They had caught her, and the only thing she could do was to fight back or die.
The man's grip on her hair tightened as he forcefully jerked her up, and at that moment his face came into view.
She scratched his face hard with her nails, making his grip on her hair loosen, then she sunk her teeth in his arm and he pulled back in pain.
"You little bi...."
The moment he let go of her hair, she took advantage and ran without looking back. She ran like the wind deeper into the forest, as fast as her legs could carry.
After hours of endless running and panting she sat under an undergrowth gasping for breath, she had managed to get away.
"What do I do now?" She cried out to no one in particular
The night blurred into the morning as she continued to wander aimlessly in the forest.
The once proud Alpha heiress was no more than a homeless washed up rogue, a creature of the wild.
Her world had been shrunk to the bare savage essentials: food, water, shelter. She needed to survive at all costs.
The birds became her companion, as the concealing shadows of trees pressed around her, giving her screen and secrecy.
“Why am I still alive?" she asked herself, staring aimlessly upwards into the canopy and night sky.
It pained her heart, as she remembered all that she had lost. Deep down in her heart burned a light glowing with rage and revenge.
She clenched her fists, her jaw tightening. "I can't die."
"Not yet."
"Not without finding out the bastard who did this to my family. My pack."

Time had lost all relevance in her sight.
She had learned to move without making sounds, and yet moving only when it is necessary, to stay low in hiding so that no one gets to notice her.
Her once beautiful strawberry-blonde hair had now been tinted with dirt and mud, making her look like a shadow of what she once was.
With each passing day, Hazel felt weaker, and her body yearned for a nice meal, anything different from the bitter fruits she was used to, a warm bed in place of the cold hard floor, and a home filled with laughter.
"I can't live this way," she fumed, clenching her fists tight. "I must find a way out."
As she moved deeper into the forest, she heard it.
Voices.
Her heart leaped with joy, as a flicker of hope sparked into her eyes again. She hadn't seen another human in days.
The sound was faint, but it was not a mistake, the voices belonged to a group of humans.
She slowly walked towards the sound with cautious steps, yet eager as the voices grew clearer.
“…told you this would happen," one voice grumbled.
"Well, if you had kept quiet, we wouldn't be in this mess!" another shot back.
She edged closer, her heart racing. The thought of seeing humans made her feel very excited and terrified at the same time.
She quietly pushed through the dense undergrowth and saw a group of three men standing in a clearing.
They were rough-looking, and two of them seemed to be arguing; while the third stood silent, staring at them with an annoyed and frustrated expression on his face.
"I told you morons to wait," the silent one finally said, his voice low but level. "Now we're out here exposed, all because of your stupidity."
The other two immediately kept quiet.
She stood there watching them. Her body ached for rest, for safety.
A small twig snapped under her foot. She froze.
Damn it!
These damn twigs are certainly after my life!
The men quickly stopped arguing as they turned toward her direction.
"Who's there?" One of them barked.
"Show yourself."
Her breath hitched, her eyes widened and for a moment she considered running.
But her tired legs refused to move.
After a brief hesitation, she weighed her options and finally decided to step forward into the clearing.
"Is that a woman?" One of the men asked.
"What's a woman doing out here?"
She wanted to cry out and explain the ordeals she had been through, but her voice struggled faintly in her dry throat.
The brunette man who seemed to be the leader stepped closer, eyes sharp. "What are you doing here?" he asked.
"I…I" Her voice cracked and she swallowed hard. "Need help."
The men stared at each other, their faces void of any expressions.
"She is kinda cute," one of them said.
"Be quiet!" the leader growled, though his gaze remained on her for a while.
"Maybe we take her back," the other man jeered, his lips pulled up in a mocking smile. "The Alpha will love to see this."
She swallowed hard, her stomach dropped and her face paled.
These weren't ordinary men. These... These were...
Werewolves!
The alarm in her head rang.
Oh no.
The leader continued to stare at her, then nodded. "She is not anyone. She is different, and the Alpha might surely want her.”
Her legs began to shake as their words sank in. No, no, not again.
She took a step back as instincts yelled at her to run. But before she even could do that, one of them sprang forward and grabbed her arm.
"Let me go! Please!!!" she screamed, yanking on his grip.
“Easy now," said the leader in a low, firm voice. "We are sure not going to harm you."
She made efforts to free herself, but the second man took hold of her other arm and together they pinned her down.
"Stop! please!!" She cried out in pain as she stared wearily at the leader who flashed her a smirk.
And everything went black.
Three Years Later..."William, stop running!" Ryland’s voice rang, and the small boy giggled, running towards Hazel. Before he could grab her dress, Ryland caught hold of him. The strawberry blond toddler let out a squeal holding onto him. "Honey, stop playing, we are already late," Hazel scolded, placing a hand on the growing bump. "I know, I know, but he refuses to put on his tie," Ryland said, giving the little boy a fake glare. "Will?" Hazel muttered and the boy turned, staring at her with a smile. "Put on your tie," she said."Okay mommy," he replied, his voice tiny, yet sweet to the ear earned a chuckle from her at his overjoyed response. With the tie on him, Ryland finally placed him down. "Mom, I want to talk to my sister," William piped up with a wide grin. "Of course, sweetie," Hazel responded, placing the toddler’s hand on her tummy. "She moved!" Williams giggled in awe, earning bounds of laughter from his parents. "Yes baby. She likes you,” Hazel assured and his eye
Ryland pushed the door open to see Aaron sitting on the chair. “Greetings, Your Highness," he said in a joyful voice bowing his head low until Ryland gestured for him to rise. "How is Hazel doing, and where is she?" he asked, searching around the room with his eyes. "Um.. She's not here," Caleb answered for him and they both winced at his voice. “Should you be talking?" Aaron asked and Ryland muttered an ‘I told you so’ to him."You both are just annoying," Caleb grumbled, taking a seat. "So why are you here?" Ryland pried, sitting opposite from them. Aaron had helped him in protecting Hazel and giving him useful information, so he owed him a lot. "I came here because there's something I think you should know," Aaron muttered, locking eyes with Ryland. Ryland's ears shot up in curiosity. "What is it about?" He asked, waiting for Aaron to continue. "It is about Hazel," Aaron started, and Ryland shot an unshakable gaze at him. A signal that he was losing his patience. "She's pr
"Congratulations, you finally have your pack back!" Ryland whispered, and Hazel snapped her head in his direction, surprised that anyone was with her. "I guess. It is what my parents desire," she said, staring down at the pack. The word had spread that she was back and even though some of them still had a hard time accepting her, she was sure they would all come around soon enough. "Your parents would be proud, I'm sure of it," Ryland said with a smile on his lips. "Thank you Ryland for coming to my aid. I really thought I was going to die in Rodrigo's hand," Hazel muttered, trying to ignore how bitter the words tasted in her mouth. "And I also really appreciate all you did in helping get my pack back. I'm forever indebted to you," she continued, glancing his way for only a few seconds. There was no doubt that being in a room with Ryland after all that happened felt highly uncomfortable. "There is no need for you to thank me," Ryland responded and Hazel's eyes flickered in conf
Ryland stared at her like she had grown two heads. "I know it's probably stupid, but I can't live happily knowing that my parents aren't happy," she whispered, the words heavier than she had expected. "I have to get Hibiscus pack back, at least because of them. That is what they would have wanted," Hazel concluded. Ryland watched her speaking, his eyes shining with pride, but also a sliver of concern. “I know you want that but you have to take things a little slower," Ryland spoke, hoping she'd be patient and understand even though her mind was made up.Hazel sprang up immediately, her eyes glowing deep gold as she shot back, "I'm doing this with or without you. I don't need your help anyway." Ryland let out a gasp, surprised that she took his words in the wrong way. "I am not saying I won't help you, but that we need a plan and we need to heal too.” He paused for a breath. “Some of my men were injured in the last attack, and you can't risk going into the pack alone. You have no id
Ryland tried to move hoping to fight Rodrigo again, but the excruciating pain coming from the cut of the knife hindered him. Gripping the knife, he stared at Hazel who shook her head vigorously in fear, not wanting to see him bleed to death."I wouldn't do that if I were you," Rodrigo said in a syrupy sweet voice. "That dagger is poisoned. It would slow down your healing, and you'd probably bleed to death right here." But his ideas fell on deaf ears as Ryland ignored him and pulled out the knife. His grunts were loud in the air, making Hazel turn her face away to avoid watching him. Ryland attempted to walk but he collapsed, his chest heaving from pain. Hazel stared wide at him and something in her seemed to click. Before she could think, she headbutted Rodrigo, causing him to let out a grunt, his hands on his nose. "What the-" he cursed, taking in her face. Shockingly, Hazel looked completely different from what she was just a few minutes ago. She no longer had a scared face. Her
Hazel's heart dropped to her stomach as she felt the cold touch of a knife against her neck. A whimper left her lips as she tried to struggle with Rodrigo, glancing at Ryland for help. He tried to step towards them but Rodrigo grazed her skin with the knife, making him stop. "Not on my watch," he said with a firm voice. "You think you could just come to my house and take my wife?" He asked like it was the dumbest thing. "Your wife shouldn't be tied to a chair, and don't forget she is my mate," Ryland shot back, stepping closer. The comment seemed to annoy Rodrigo and he growled. "She was trying to escape and she’s not your mate, because last I heard, you rejected her," Rodrigo brewed, his smirk increasing, happy he had been able to hit a nerve. Ryland moved towards him and Rodrigo pretended to pierced Hazel with the knife causing her to whimper. “I wouldn't move if I were you.” “Tell your men to go back now. Do that and I might let you carry your dog…" Rodrigo said, glancing at
