My Mate

Author: Katherine
(Amber's POV)

My phone buzzed for the twentieth time that morning. I glanced at the screen and rolled my eyes at yet another message from the Northern Territory wolf forums.

"Amber Chase pushed Melissa James down the stairs at Ryan Quinn's birthday party!"

"Just like when she pushed Victoria and Melissa into the water at Victoria's birthday!"

"She deserved to lose Ethan! Can't control her jealousy!"

I tossed my phone aside and stared at the hospital ceiling. The rumors had spread like wildfire throughout Silvercrest City. Everyone was talking about how Ethan's "poor mistress" had been viciously attacked by his "unhinged ex-fiancée."

I snorted. If they only knew the truth.

The gossip didn't bother me. I'd been the center of public scrutiny since high school. What was one more scandal?

My phone rang again. Mother. I reluctantly answered.

"Amber Chase!" Melanie's voice crackled through the speaker. "How dare you cause another scene? I'm abroad with Victoria trying to enjoy oursel

  • Second Chance Luna Mated to Ex's Uncle   Amber is Drunk

(Dominic's POV)The Moonlight Club hummed with quiet conversations and the clink of glasses. I sat across from Alpha Reed, watching his expression carefully as he nursed his drink."James Ward," Reed said, his voice low and tinged with unease. "That's a name I haven't heard in years.""I need to know what happened to him," I replied, keeping my tone neutral despite Leo's growing impatience beneath my skin.Reed's eyes narrowed suspiciously. "Why the sudden interest in ancient history?""It concerns someone close to me." I didn't elaborate further, maintaining my steady gaze.Reed sighed heavily, setting down his glass with a soft thud. "James and his mistress died during a territorial dispute at Chase Pack's Northern Boundary. It was... messy.""How so?" I pressed, leaning forward slightly."They were cornered in an abandoned den. Rescue was impossible." Reed's scent shifted, indicating discomfort with the memory. His fingers tightened around his glass. "The official pack rec

  • Second Chance Luna Mated to Ex's Uncle   Victoria's Biological Father

(Amber's POV)I sat in my car, staring at the boxes of treasures I'd just swindled from Harrison. The satisfaction was sweet, but I needed to make sure these items found good homes. Some would go to Paige, as usual.I pulled out my phone and dialed Paige's number, drumming my fingers on the steering wheel as I waited for her to answer."Hey, are you still at your sister-in-law's place?" I asked when she picked up."No, I'm back at the studio. The interview was a disaster," Paige replied, sounding frustrated."Interview? What interview?""For a driver. Remember we talked about hiring someone for the new equipment van? I'll tell you when you get here."I started the engine. "I'm on my way. Got some goodies from Harrison.""Of course you do," Paige laughed. "See you soon."I pulled out of Chase Pack Headquarters' parking lot with a smile. Even with all the drama in my life, some things remained constant – like my ability to fleece my father and Paige's unwavering support. The fa

  • Second Chance Luna Mated to Ex's Uncle   New Tricks for Scamming an Alpha

(Amber's POV)I strutted out of Harrison's office with five boxes balanced precariously in my arms, feeling like I'd just pulled off the heist of the century. The satisfaction of outmaneuvering my father warmed me from the inside, better than any moonlight wine could. The pack secretary, Gwen Harper, stood frozen outside the office door. Her jaw literally dropped when she saw what I was carrying."Are those... the Moon Goddess Healing Crystal and the Jade Moonstone?" she stammered, her eyes wide with disbelief.I shifted the boxes in my arms, letting her catch a glimpse of the ancient artifacts nestled inside. "Oh, these old things? Father insisted I take them. Family heirlooms and all that."Gwen's face paled. "But I was instructed to hide all valuable artifacts before your arrival.""Oops," I said with mock sympathy. "Guess you'll be in trouble with the big bad Alpha, huh?"She fidgeted nervously with her pen. "Mr. Chase will be furious."I leaned in conspiratorially. "Betwee

  • Second Chance Luna Mated to Ex's Uncle   Amber's Complaint

(Amber's POV)It was the last day of August, and I was completely exhausted. I'd woken up at 4 a.m. for a photoshoot in the northern hills, capturing the sunrise over the valley for a special werewolf resort promotion. By the time I dragged myself back to my riverside apartment at 4 p.m., I could barely keep my eyes open. I collapsed onto my bed without even changing my clothes, my camera equipment abandoned by the door. This had been the most grueling day I'd experienced in months. Not just physically, but emotionally too. Ryan Quinn had deliberately avoided me throughout the entire shoot, despite being the resort's promotional coordinator. Even worse, he'd barely touched the moonlight venison stew I'd prepared specially. I'd spent hours on that recipe, simmering the meat with herbs that enhanced a werewolf's senses.I woke hours later to the sound of Dominic entering the apartment. The digital clock on my nightstand glowed 9:30 p.m."You're back," I mumbled, still half-asleep

  • Second Chance Luna Mated to Ex's Uncle   Revealing the Truth

(Amber's POV)"That awesome photographer... is me," I declared, watching Shannon's expression shift from surprise to disbelief. She scoffed, tossing her honey-colored hair over her shoulder. "You expect me to believe that? The mysterious master who shot Sophia's breakthrough spread?"I leaned back in my chair, unfazed by her skepticism. "Believe what you want."Shannon crossed her arms, her perfectly manicured nails tapping against her sleeve. "Everyone knows you're just a spoiled pack heiress playing with cameras.""Is that so?" I kept my voice level, though Cora growled softly beneath my skin."I specifically chose *Moon* magazine for my comeback because I wanted to work with that photographer," Shannon continued, her voice growing passionate. "That artist captured something in Sophia that no one else could see."This revelation surprised me. I hadn't realized Shannon admired my work so deeply."I even approached Jessica about it," she admitted. "But she wouldn't tell me who

  • Second Chance Luna Mated to Ex's Uncle   Our Ending Is Strangers

(Amber's POV)Relief washed over me as I ended the call with my father. The stunned faces around the studio were worth every second of that conversation. Shannon stood frozen, her perfect model pose suddenly stiff with shock. Ryan looked like someone had just told him the moon wouldn't rise tonight."Now," I said, slipping my phone into my pocket, "shall we begin the shoot? I'm thinking we'll go with a more... humble concept than originally planned."Shannon's agent stepped forward. "I don't think—""That's right," I cut her off smoothly. "You don't think. If you did, you wouldn't have allowed your client to waste my team's time."My wolf Cora purred with satisfaction beneath my skin, enjoying the way Shannon's confident facade cracked. I turned to my assistant."Liam, please prepare the plain backdrop. We're going minimalist today."I gestured for Ryan to follow me outside. "A word, please."Once we were alone in the hallway, I let my amber eyes flash with barely contained ang

  • Second Chance Luna Mated to Ex's Uncle   Old Chase, Someone is Bullying Me

(Amber's POV)The morning light streamed through the windows of Moonlight Photography, highlighting the empty studio where my team had been prepped and waiting since 5:30 a.m. I checked my watch again—10:30 a.m. Four and a half hours late. When Shannon finally strutted in with her entourage, I felt my fists itch a little and restrained my wolf claws. The over-the-top model was wearing much more expensive clothes than the last time we'd met, designer sunglasses perched on her perfect nose."You're late," I said, my voice clipped as I addressed Ryan rather than Shannon directly. "Is this deliberate disrespect?"Shannon removed her sunglasses with a practiced flick of her wrist. "Oh please, I told your people about the time change. We were out clubbing with Ryan last night." She pointed a manicured finger at Paige, my best friend and Ryan's fiancée. "Isn't that right, sweetie?"The atmosphere in the studio instantly tensed. I stood speechless, watching Paige's face pale at the casual

  • Second Chance Luna Mated to Ex's Uncle   It's been a long time since I bared my teeth

(Amber's POV)Dominic's blue eyes held mine in the dim light of our bedroom. His voice was low, almost pained as he continued the story."My mother had no choice. She rejected Benjamin and bonded with my father." Dominic's voice cracked slightly. "They were completely incompatible—too far apart in years, too different in temperament. It made my mother's life miserable."I thought about the implications, about the decades of resentment this must have created. "And Benjamin never knew the truth?""Not until the day of the mating ceremony. When he realized he'd been deceived, that he was being mated to someone else, he toppled the moonstone altar in protest. But by then, it was too late."My heart ached for Grace, for Benjamin, for all the lives destroyed by William's selfishness. I thought back to my own childhood, part of which was spent visiting the Blackwood Pack House, completely oblivious to this tragic history."I believe Ethan will use this opportunity to portray me as manip

  • Second Chance Luna Mated to Ex's Uncle   Ex-fiancé's Invitation

(Ethan's POV)There are five days in my life I'll never forget. The first was when Amber Chase disappeared after that terrible accident in high school—the one that awakened her wolf prematurely. I still remember the chaos, the blood, and her terrified amber eyes before her parents whisked her away. The second was when she returned to Silvercrest City years later, more beautiful and confident than ever. My wolf Noah howled with recognition—she was meant to be ours. The third was the day I met Melissa. The day my heart began to shift, torn between duty and desire. The fourth was the day she announced she was breaking off our mate bond with me.And today might be the fifth."You need to apologize in the pack group chat," my father said, his voice firm as he handed me back my phone. "It's not just about making amends—it's strategic."I clenched my jaw. "Strategic? Dominic has humiliated our entire family!""And he could do worse." Father's eyes hardened. "This is about maintaining
