Chapter 37: The Strange Bells

WINTER'S POV.

I spy Nikolai from the corner of my eyes and excitement washes through my skin. I find myself smiling like a lovesick teenager. I’m aware of my being lovesick but I need to stop behaving like a teenager around this man.

He’s not giving me an answer, he’s just staring at me and making me even more worried than I already am.

“Say something Nikolai!” I persist impatiently. Does this have anything to do with what I said the last time we saw each other? No, it can’t be, it looks more serious than that.

He just continues to stare at me like he’s trying to see through me.

I lower him to a wooden bench close to the wall and sit next to him.
