SIXTY THREE

JULIE

I was still in the business of unpacking the stuff we just got from the grocery store, when the doorbell rang.

"I think she's the one. Good thing I didn't spend more time over there" I said.

I hurried to the door to see who it was, with my mind fully made up that it was Madam Morello.

Prior to that day, all our conversations had been over the phone. I had never seen her before. I didn't know what she looked like. I just moved to the door with the hope of seeing an elderly woman waiting to be let in.

"On my way" I said as the doorbell came again.

I looked through the peephole and rather than seeing the image of a really elderly woman I had in my head, I was met with a surprisingly younger version of what I had envisaged.

"Hiii! You must be Madam Morello" I said as I opened the door.

"Hello, Julie. Of course I am" She smiled as she spread her hands for a hug, which I gladly accepted.
