For revenge

ผู้เขียน: Emma
Wyatt’s POV

I had just leaned back in my leather chair, twirling a pen between my fingers, when the thought crossed my mind—

When is Evelyn finally going to call?

It irritated me more than it should have. Reduced to sitting by the phone, waiting like some foolish kid for a text. Or some obsessed teenager. I kept telling myself it was ridiculous; I was not love-struck, I was not that kind of fool.

Still, the anticipation was there, a small, prickly thing under my skin.

For all her pride, I knew her. She wouldn’t let this one drag on too long, not when the pack’s survival relied on those mines and, by extension, on the investments I controlled. She’d come crawling, sooner or later. That certainty felt oddly satisfying — her groveling for my help.

Right then my phone buzzed.

“Mr. Wyatt, you have a call. It’s Alex, Evelyn’s assistant,” my assistant murmured, setting the device on speaker and sliding it across the desk.

I straightened without thinking, a smirk tugging at my lips. Right on time, Evelyn.

Before I could answer, Judy swayed over from the sofa where she’d been pretending to scroll through her phone. Her perfume hit first — expensive, too sweet — and then her laugh as she leaned close, lips dangerously near my ear.

“Wyatt, is that Evelyn? Why don’t you—” she began, in a sweet tone meant to be flirtatious.

I held up my hand sharply. “Shut it, Judy.” My voice carried more seriousness than I’d intended. She blinked, startled by the abruptness, and for a moment the room felt quieter.

“Know your place,” I added, because sometimes she always seemed to forget when to discern moments.

The line went on. Alex’s voice was steady, the professional tone he used when he had bad news or strict instructions.

“Mr. Wyatt, Miss Evelyn has requested a meeting.”

There it was. Clear, direct, no greetings or beating around the bush — classic Evelyn. No dramatics, no begging, just a demand for presence. I tapped the pen against my desk, drawing out the silence just because it felt good to savor the moment.

They would have to know that their meeting wasn’t exactly my priority.

“Mm. Tell her I’ll check my schedule. I’ll have my assistant call back.” I kept my voice smooth. Let it sound casual. Let it sound distant. That was the point.

“Yes, sir.” The line cut.

The second the phone disconnected, I spun toward my assistant. My pulse had picked up without my permission.

“When can we meet her?” I asked, the question quicker than I’d meant.

He blinked, clearly taken aback by the sudden urgency in my tone. “Uh… Mr. Wyatt, you used to dislike Miss Evelyn and avoided her. Why are you in such a hurry to meet her now?”

The question was pointed, and I felt the irritation rise. “Just check my calendar,” I snapped. “Set it up as soon as possible.”

He hesitated — the kind of pause people have when they’re trying not to say something that would be foolish to say. Then his lips twitched as if he wanted to laugh or cry; I couldn’t tell which.

“If only you had known this would happen, you wouldn’t have pulled your investments and stripped them from mines,” he said, not hiding the comment in the least.

I scowled, straightening in my chair. “Don’t misunderstand. I don’t care about her.” The words tasted flat and stale even as they left my mouth. “I don’t care. I dislike Evelyn infact—and it was my grandmother who pushed me into this. I’m not doing this out of choice.”

My assistant’s eyes were skeptical. He didn’t buy it, and I didn’t expect him to.

Judy, of course, wasn’t as restrained by professional caution as my assistant. She smirked and perched on the edge of my desk like she owned the wood.

“My, my. Someone looks overly excited.”

I glared at her. “Can you shut it?” I said flatly. There was a fine line between amusement and annoyance, and Judy stepped over it countless times when she wanted me to react. Tonight, I wanted nothing more than to watch Evelyn grovel. I didn’t need her distractions.

“Oh please,” she scoffed, tossing her hair with practiced casualness. “You just jumped like a man who’s been waiting by the phone all day.”

“I’m not eager,” I shot back. “I just don’t like unresolved issues. Evelyn thinks she can walk away and still get everything she wants. Someone has to put her in her place.”

“And that someone just happens to be you?” Judy arched a brow, the challenge obvious in her tone.

I ignored her jab, though my jaw clenched. “Snce she requested this meeting, she’ll get it.” The certainty in my voice was both proclamation and hope; I needed it to be true. I wanted the meeting to happen.

I grabbed my coat, feeling the stiff fabric slide under my hand as a kind of armor. I was already marching toward the door in my head.

I paused then turned back “And you’re coming with me, Judy.”

She blinked, surprised, and then delighted. “What? You want me there?”

“You heard me,” I said flatly.

“Nice.” She smirked

“It’ll remind her she’s not the only one who can have at it.” The phrase felt both cruel and necessary. Let her taste being on the wrong side of power for once. Let her feel the slight of being ignored. Maybe then she’d learn.

Her smirk deepened, satisfied; Judy loved the idea of spectacle. She lived for it. For her, provocation was a performance.

It wasn’t about feelings. It wasn’t about wanting her. It was about proving Evelyn didn’t matter to me anymore.

…Right?

The doubt crept under my skin, small and ridiculous and inconvenient. I pushed it down. There was enough time for that later. For now, I had to meet her first and listen to her beg.

  • Secret affair with my alpha’s brother   Its him

Evelyn’s POVI walked up from the underground garage. My phone buzzed twice — the doorbell from the house. Indicating that someone was at my door. I wasn’t expecting anyone this morning so I was curious who it could be.But as I stepped out into the conjoining corridor, the ringing came again. Whoever it was, they weren’t planning on leaving anytime soon.I pressed the intercom. “Yes?”Static crackled on the other end. I frowned and took a step forward, reaching for the handle. And just as I was opening the door, all of a sudden, a throbbing ache shot up my thigh. My leg buckled before I could stop it. The world tilted, my vision blurring as my foot slipped on the floor.I braced for the fall.It never came.A firm arm caught me around the waist, steadying me before I could hit the ground. The warmth that pressed against me was unmistakable. Its firm hold somehow familiar.“Careful,” a deep voice murmured beside my ear. “ the floor can get slippery some times.”My breath caught. I tur

  • Secret affair with my alpha’s brother   I couldn’t face him

Evelyn’s POVThe moment the curtains opened, the room was devoured by light.I recoiled instinctively, the blaze of morning light striking me like a physical blow. My eyes stung as though red hot knives had pierced them. I shut them tight, covering my face with trembling hands. The darkness had been my cocoon, a shield. There, wrapped in shadows, I could pretend and forget my problems. I could tell myself it wasn’t real—that it was just another night, another fleeting escape I would erase come morning. But in the light— In the light there was no escape. The brightness stripped me bare, dragged me mercilessly back to reality. For the first time, it would be possible to see him. Really see him. The face of the man who had kissed me, touched me, consumed me—all while remaining hidden behind the curtain of darkness.I had thought I wanted this. For so long, I’d longed to peel back the mystery, to know the truth. But now, with the sun spilling over his body, with the weight of all my proble

Evelyn’s POVA few moments later, just as I had dismissed Wyatt’s phone, my escort’s phone rang. My body stiffened, my lips parting to tell him to just answer it, to end the ringtone’s distraction that was beginning to annoy me. “Answer it,” I whispered hoarsely, my voice cracking, breath shallow. “Just… answer."But today, he didn’t listen. His palm pressed me back down with a maddening patience, his breath searing against my skin. It wasn’t just desire—it was something heavier, darker.“Not now,” he murmured, tone deep.I wanted to protest, to push him away and force him to pick up the phone, but the words died in my throat as his body shifted, coaxing me into a new position. My breath faltered when I realized what he intended. His mouth on me, my lips parting around him—our bodies aligned in the raw intimacy of a 69.The taste of him filled my mouth, salty and intoxicating, while the heat of his tongue against me sent a shiver through my core. • Secret affair with my alpha’s brother   The dangerous truth

Evelyn’s POVMy phone’s ringtone echoed through the darkened room, cutting through the haze of heat and silence. I stiffened, my hand twitching instinctively toward the nightstand, but before I could reach it, the body beside me pressed against me.His warm and naked skin clung to me, the scent of him from the night before flooding my nose. My breath hitched as I realized what he was getting at.“Now?” I whispered, my voice frayed, almost pleading, but it was too late. He stirred, burying himself deeper against my chest, his breath hot against my collarbone. A subtle shift of his hips and I felt it—the undeniable proof of his arousal pressing against me again, insistent, demanding. My heart lurched in panic. No light filtered in—the heavy curtains had been drawn tight, leaving the room drowned in darkness. There was no escape, no way to pretend this hadn’t happened, no way to dismiss him.The phone rang again, louder, urgent. My pulse thundered in my ears.“You can just answer it,” Ben

  • Secret affair with my alpha’s brother   A night spent together

Evelyn’s POVThe steam from the bathroom still clung to my skin when the hand covered my mouth, and the voice whispered, “Shh…”My whole body tensed—until I caught his scent. Familiar. Intimate. My escort.Relief tangled with something far hotter as he spun me toward him, the towel slipping dangerously from my frame. Intelligently, he had turned the lights off so I didn’t get a good look at him.As expected.“Where were you today?” he demanded, his voice low, laced with suspicion.I blinked, startled. “What?”He leaned closer, his nose brushing against my neck, inhaling deeply. My skin prickled where his breath touched me. “You reek of another wolf.”Heat surged up my throat, equal parts indignation and arousal. His grip tightened, as if the accusation gave him the right to claim. “It’s none of your business,” I replied, forcing seriousness into my tone even as my pulse betrayed me. “I have my own affairs to attend to.”His gaze darkened, and then without another word, he pressed me b

  • Secret affair with my alpha’s brother   To win her back

Evelyn’s POVFor a long while, neither of us spoke. The silence between Wyatt and me felt thick enough to choke on. He stood there, broad-shouldered and impossibly composed, his gaze heavy. I’d seen that look before—years ago—just before he’d chosen his pride over me.So when I finally broke the silence, my voice came out harsher than I intended.“What is it you want to talk about, Wyatt?”He took a breath, the tension in his jaw softening just slightly. “The pack,” he said at last. “I know it still matters to you.”I blinked. “The pack? You came all this way to talk about the pack?” I crossed my arms, my tone cool. “If you must know then it's doing just fine without you.”He winced at that, though he tried to hide it. “I know you don’t want to hear this,” he said, lowering his voice. “But I understand now. I understand that I was wrong.”“Wrong?” I repeated, incredulous. “ Wrong about what?”He stepped closer, and I instinctively took a step back. “I was a fool. I admit it. I let prid
