LOGINTHIRD PERSON'S POV
Lucy entered her office and flopped down on her chair. Her head ached from all the thinking she had been doing. She had been up all night thinking, but no matter how much she thought hard, she couldn't figure out how to exert her revenge. A slight knock came at the door. Lucy sat up and arranged herself before calling out, “Enter.” Caramel entered smiling. “Good morning, ma'am. Welcome back. How was your trip?” She asked as she dropped off Lucy's coffee in front of her. Lucy looked at her, and the memory of that night flashed before her eyes. She closed her eyes momentarily. “It was good.” She replied curtly. “I heard you came back a day before yesterday, but you didn't come to work yesterday. Did you meet a client outside the office?” She asked, still smiling. Her smile sickened Lucy. After everything she had done for her, she had the guts to plot such evil against her and then stand here and smile. The raw urge to get up and smash her head against the wall filled her body, but she held back. Just then something crossed her mind. “How did you know when I came back? I am sure I didn't tell you.” Lucy asked. Her eyebrow raised. A nervous laugh escaped Caramel's lips. “Errm…now that you ask, I don't quite remember how I got that information.” She chuckled nervously, avoiding Lucy's eyes. “Ohh right! I remember now. I found out from Clinton.” Lucy nodded even though she knew that was a lie. “Ohh, I see. Well, thank you for the coffee. You can go now. I will call you if I need you.” She dismissed her. Caramel quickly turned around and hurried towards the door. As she rushed out, her red heels came into view, clicking against the tiles. Lucy watched the shoes with pain in her heart. “Nice heels, Caramel.” She blurted out. Caramel halted and spun. “Thank you, ma'am. My boyfriend bought it for me. He said it fit my legs and colour perfectly. I think it does too.” She smiled cheekily. Lucy swallowed heavily. “That's very sweet of him.” Lucy replied with a tight smile. “What is his name?” She asked. “Ermm.” Caramel chuckled nervously. “You are not one to ask private questions, ma’am. This is a surprise.” She shifted the conversation. Lucy chuckled. “Sorry, I must have made you uncomfortable with that question. You don't have to reply. You can go.” Caramel immediately turned around and left. As the door closed, Lucy heard her phone chime. She picked it up, and it was an email. She opened it, but it was from an unknown person, but the content immediately got her attention. “Hello, Lucy. You do not know me, but I know you. And I have a deal for you. I can help you get the revenge you desire, and my price is not too exorbitant. All I want is just one date. If you are interested, reply with any location and time of your choice. I will be waiting.” The text read. Lucy was intrigued. There was no name on the email, so there was no way to know who the sender was. She remembered the letter that was left for her in hospital. She immediately picked her bag up and took out the note. “I will reach out to you again. Soon.” That was the last line. “Could it be the same person?” She asked out loud. Could the price be only one date?” She wondered. She was intrigued but also scared. It made no sense that a stranger would be doing this. But she told no one about what happened to her. Not even her only friend yet. So how did this person find out about it? But after looking at the email and note over and over again, she didn't know what to do. She closed the email and put the note back into her bag. “Let's just focus on work, Lucy.” She muttered to herself. She continued her work for the day. Clients came in for consultations and meetings. She wrote some paperwork and other things. She couldn't be more glad that she didn't have a court session today. Lucy stretched and looked at the table clock, which was showing 4:30pm. Suddenly the email crossed her mind again. She opened it on her phone and looked at it again as her chair swirled around. “What is the harm in meeting up with this stranger? She thought to herself. “I get to pick out the location and time so I can pick out a familiar place where I will feel safe. But is this really worth it? Could one date be the only price?” She sighed heavily. “Ughhh. This is killing me. I am too curious to let it go and too scared to go ahead with it.” She tapped her pen on her table. An unconscious habit she does whenever she is thinking of something deeply. “You know what? Fuck it! If I am going to do it, I might just do it now and get over it. "What's the harm in seeing who it is?” She rambled on. She opened the email and replied. “Hilltop restaurant. 5:30pm, today.” She typed and clicked send. She let out a deep sigh. Her hand tapped anxiously on the table as she waited for a response. Within three minutes a reply came in. “Good choice. See you soon.” She checked the time again, and it was now exactly 5:00 pm. “I should get going to beat traffic. I wouldn't want him to get there before me.” She muttered, but in reality it was just her habit of always wanting to arrive early before every client meeting or court session. She retouched her makeup and left the office. Caramel stood up as soon as Lucy walked out of her office. “Ma’am, do you have a meeting? I don't see anything on your schedule.” She asked, checking her schedule again. “It's a private meeting; you don't have to concern yourself with it. Go home early today.” Lucy replied and continued on her way. Caramel smiled. “Ma’am, will you go home from the meeting? Will it be a long one?” She asked innocently. But Lucy caught the meaning behind those questions. She turned around and stared at her but turned away without saying a word and walked away. “They must both think I am a fool for not noticing them sneaking around my back all this while.” Lucy said, feeling slightly ashamed of herself. As she came down, she saw Clinton waiting by the car. “Where to, ma’am?” he asked politely. “I plan on using a cab, Clinton. I will go home from the meeting, so don't wait. Go home with the car and come pick me up tomorrow at home as usual.” Lucy instructed. “Okay, ma’am. Thank you.” He replied. Lucy hailed a cab and entered. For some reason she didn't want anyone to know where she was going. It felt like a secret for some reason. It wasn't long before she arrived at her location. A waiter showed her to a table by the window, and she requested water. She sat there looking out the window and just admiring the view; she didn't notice when someone walked up to her until the person was standing in front of the table. She raised her eyes and was met with a handsome smiling face. He was about 6 ft 5 with broad shoulders and a well-structured, muscular frame. He was definitely an eye candy with his white sleeves rolled up. “Hello, Lucy. I am Ethan. I am glad you decided to meet with me.” He smiled. Lucy shook her head slightly, getting rid of the intrusive thoughts. “Hello, Ethan. I would have introduced myself, but you seem to already know me.” Lucy replied. He smirked and sat down opposite her.THIRD PERSON'S POV “Logan…” Lucy muttered. He walked briskly towards her and grabbed her hand forcefully. “You thought serving me the divorce papers was going to be the end?” He gritted out,Lucy snatched her hand away. The fear was gone and replaced by anger. “You had the guts to come here?” She hissed angrily.“Why wouldn't I come here? Am I supposed to be scared of you?” He asked harshly, glaring at her with hostility…“You should be. After the rubbish you did today, you really shouldn't have come here, and you should be scared!” Lucy yelled.Logan chuckled dryly. “You should be begging me. You should be on your knees begging me not to destroy you or finish your career. You don't seem to know the level of influence I have in your life.” He smirked.Lucy scoffed. “Logan, none of this will change anything. Do whatever you want to do, but I am divorcing you. Sign the papers and bring them to me soon before I decide to drag your broke ass to court.” She whirled around and tried to op
THIRD PERSON'S POV Back in the office, Lucy’s nerves were finally relaxed.Adina dropped a cup of water in front of her. She watched her closely to make sure she was okay.“I am okay now, Adina. You can relax.” Lucy chuckled softly. She drank a little from the water and dropped the cup.“I am glad that you are okay now.” Adina said quietly. “Do you want to tell me what all that was about?” Adina asked after a minute.Lucy pursed her lips and breathed out heavily. “I think it was planned by Logan.” She replied.“Logan? Why would your husband do that to you?” Adina asked, her voice low.“Because I served him divorce papers, and he doesn't want to divorce me.” Lucy replied. She took another mouthful of water and closed her eyes.“But…” Adina hesitated. “I am sorry to be asking all these questions. I just can't wrap my head around it.” She said after a second. “Even if he doesn't want to divorce you, that isn't a good reason for what happened today. Are you sure it's him?” She asked.“Wh
THIRD PERSON'S POV “Hey, Amelia. How are you doing?” Lucy asked as soon as she picked up the call.“I am good. I just wanted to check on you. How are you?” Amelia asked.“I am fine. Taking it one day at a time for now.” Lucy replied.“That’s great. Just hang in there, okay?” Amelia said in a soothing voice. “Has Logan signed the divorce papers yet?” “I haven't heard from him since that night. If he had signed them, he would have brought them to me.” Lucy sighed.“It’s been four days already. Hope he isn't planning anything crazy? Logan is not to be trusted.” She said, her voice laced with worry.“Whatever he is planning, it won't spoil my day today.” Lucy breathed out.“Is something good happening today?” Amelia asked.“There is this case that has been in the public limelight that I have been working on. Judgement will be given today, and I have a good feeling about it. I really hope that my client gets justice.” Lucy replied. “That's really great.” Amelia said sincerely. “I wish y
THIRD PERSON'S POVLucy's heart pounded against her ribs as Logan’s sister stepped into her office. She had an air of authority and respect surrounding her.As she strutted in, Lucy sat motionless.“What is she doing here?”“Did Logan really reach out to his family already?”“Is she here to threaten me?” Several thoughts rushed through Lucy's head as Logan's sister stood in front of her.Clad in expensive attire from head to toe. She reeked of money and intimidation. The black-and-white Balmain tweed mini dress adorned with gold buttons clung to her body like a second skin. She paired the dress with black Louboutin heels and a mini Hermès Kelly bag. Around her wrist was a Cartier Juste un Clou bracelet. Her eyes were concealed by oversized dark Céline shades. Lucy knew these designer wears thanks to Amelia. It was her area of interest, and she wouldn't stop her from talking about them whenever they were together. Her eyes covered by the shades made her come across as even more un
THIRD PERSON'S POVAfter the call, Lucy got dressed and left the house for work. She greeted the security men as she passed. As she entered the reception lobby, she noticed Stella pasting something on the notice board.“Good morning, ma’am,” Stella greeted as she noticed Lucy.“Good morning, Stella. Thank you for coming early to do this,” Lucy said to her.“That's my job as your assistant,” Stella replied and fell into step with her. “I have also informed HR of the dismissal. They will effect it once they get to work this morning.”“HR is going to be busy for the next couple of days, and so will you too,” Lucy said to her.“Why do you say so, ma’am? Did something happen?” Stella asked.“Yes. A couple of people might have to stop working with us. It isn't just Caramel. But hers has to be today,” Lucy replied coldly.“I now understand why you said I will be busy… busy screening the applicants that will fill the empty seats, right?” Stella asked.“Exactly. Also check my schedule with Gra
THIRD PERSON’S POV Nothing could have prepared Lucy for what she heard tonight. In her wildest dreams she wouldn't have ever thought that Logan was actually from a rich home. She was still in shock when she got home. She couldn't believe that Logan was actually from the Sanderson family. She took out her phone and looked at the picture again.“If I had never found out about his affair, would I have ever found out about this?” She thought to herself.“I probably wouldn't have, because he could have kept it a secret forever. I would have continued to live with a liar and a deceiver.” She muttered in disbelief.Throughout the night Lucy had so many thoughts on her mind. So many unanswered questions. “Did Ethan know about this? ...Was this why he kept saying I needed his help to win? ...Should I take Ethan up on his offer? ...“How can I win against the son of the Sanderson family? ...She thought about it over and over again. And at intervals she looked at the email that Ethan sent
