THIRD PERSON'S POV

Lucy's eyes widened slightly as the realisation hit her hard. Her throat clogged and involuntarily her fists clenched. "There are two sides and I will definitely end up getting burned or burn others." she muttered to herself.

Her eyes shone with determination. “No. I will burn down every lie they built around me. I will protect what I worked hard for.” She said into the empty sitting room.

She wasn’t going to be one of those women who almost won or those who stopped halfway, or those who were too scared to fight for themselves.

The woman who was talking on the television at the moment mentioned how the first thing she did was investigate and find out every detail she could do so as not to make any mistakes.

“That's right, Lucy! You are a lawyer; how did you not think about such important details? The way to win any battle was to gather evidence.” She thought to herself.

She rushed upstairs and took out her laptop from her bag. She opened her laptop and pulled up her

THIRD PERSON'S POVCaramel opened the car door and slid in. “Did you get the access card?” She asked.“I have it. Put on your seatbelt; let's go,” he said and revved the engine to life.On their way to the firm, Caramel made little conversation, but Logan barely listened. “Why does Lucy have securities guarding the firm even on weekends? That isn't normal practice.” Logan asked as they entered the premises. His fingers tapped on the steering continuously, his eyes darting around the premises from where he sat behind the wheel.Caramel turned to him, surprised. “Do you even know anything about your wife or her work?”“Just answer the damn question.” Logan snapped.Caramel sighed and shook her head. “We once handled a case that gave us a lot of security issues. At some point the firm was even broken into on a weekend like this. They were probably trying to get the new evidence we had then. It was since then that Lucy made this arrangement. How do you not know this? Sometimes I really d

She breathed out shakily and looked up at him. “Shift back; you are in my personal space.” She said in a strong, unwavering voice.Ethan's eyebrows furrowed in surprise. “Don't you know what personal space is?” She said, her tone cold and sharp.Ethan’s lips curved in a little smile. “You…” he muttered but didn't complete the statement. He looked away f

THIRD PERSON’S POV Lucy stood in front of the mirror and adjusted the silver clasp on her dress. She twirled around, checking the fitting of the dress on her.The dress was a floor-length midnight blue gown, its satin fabric flowing like liquid under the lights. The neckline was modest, a soft bateau cut that framed her collarbones delicately. The gown cinched gently at her waist, highlighting her silhouette without revealing too much. Her hair was swept into a soft updo, revealing delicate diamond studs that caught the light when she turned her head. Her makeup was timeless, neutral tones. As she looked at herself in the mirror, her eyes glistened with a certain emotion. She looked pretty, and she didn't know the last time she felt like that.Away from Logan and all the drama going on in her life right now, she didn't feel the weight of the betrayal; rather, she felt alive.“Just for tonight… I will forget everything about you…” she muttered to herself.“Girlllll, you look pretty

THIRD PERSON'S POV Over the next couple of days Lucy did nothing other than wait. She kept the report she got from Mrs Tina and the flash drive she got from the unnamed man safe in her office. She knew she would have a need for it soon. Her plan was simple: wait it out until the money in the account runs dry. And she was certain it would soon. Between Logan and Caramel, two people who spend money like it was nothing, it would only be a matter of time. She wanted to be sure she left him with nothing to fall back on.She went by her normal day. But Logan was restless.Lucy hadn’t said a word about his allowance. At first she had said she was cutting down on it, but now she was giving nothing at all.The budget had been slashed. No more shopping sprees. No luxury dinners. No free money. Now whatever he spends, he spends from his hidden private account. And Caramel was expensive to maintain, and then he still has to show up at parties, or people will soon realise that he is broke. The

THIRD PERSON'S POV Lucy’s eyes darted to the wall clock. 5:30… it showed She removed her reading glasses and subtly rubbed her eyes. She was beyond exhausted, but there was one more thing left to do before she called it a day.She arranged the papers relating to the financial analysis, locked them in her drawer along with other confidential documents and threw the key into her bag. Once everything was ready, she left her office.Grace rushed out of her office. “Ma’am, do you have a meeting?” she asked.“Yes. I am meeting a client; I will go home from there. So you can go home.” Lucy replied and spun around to leave.“Ma’am…” Grace called out to her.“Yes…” “You have a court session tomorrow by 9 am. You might have to go directly to the courthouse from home so you don't arrive late.”Lucy inhaled sharply, momentarily closing her eyes. “How did I manage to forget that?” she thought to herself. “Please bring the files to the car. I will take them home with me and go from home to the

THIRD PERSON’S POV Lucy's phone pinged, alerting her of a message. But she felt too exhausted to open it. After a while the phone started ringing, but she just let it ring. Clinton looked at her through the front mirror, his eyebrows furrowed, but he said nothing. As soon as Clinton parked in front of the firm, Lucy alighted and made her way to her office. On her way up she noticed Caramel observing her from a corner, but she wasn't in the mood for her stupid antics. “Ma’am…” Grace started to say as Lucy passed her office.Lucy raised her hand, stopping her from continuing. “Don't let anyone in for the next hour. Take my calls, and unless someone is actually dying, don't disturb me for the next hour.” She instructed and walked into her office before Grace could reply.Once Lucy entered, she dropped her bag on the table and she drew her blinds, leaving the sun out, and the office became dark. She kicked off her shoes, fell on the long sofa, covered herself with the sofa blanket, an
