LOGINTHIRD PERSON’S POV
Ethan fixed his eyes on Lucy, his eyes unwavering and unblinking. Lucy didn't want to look away, but after a while it got weird. She looked away and breathed out heavily. “What is this? A staring competition?” She thought to herself. Ethan smirked. “What would you like to order?” he asked. “I am okay with what I am having right now.” She crossed her legs and sat up properly. “I didn't come here to eat; we both know that. So why don't we skip to what brought us here?” Ethan chuckled softly. “You are just like they all say.” He muttered under his breath. Lucy's eyes narrowed. “What was that?” She replied sharply. Ethan's lips curled up in a small smile. “Ohh, it's nothing,” he replied. “I haven't had anything to eat today, so I would like to order something if you do not mind.” Lucy nodded. “Go ahead.” She replied. Ethan made his order, and while they waited, they sat in an uncomfortable silence. Soon the server appeared with the food. He dropped Ethan's order in front of him and the other plate in front of Lucy. “Wait!” Lucy immediately called out to the server. “I didn't order anything.” “I did." Ethan answered. Lucy's eyebrows furrowed. "The audacity of this man." "I know you well enough to know that you haven't eaten anything today. And I know you are about to argue, but please don't. We will have the discussion that brought us here, but we can eat while we do that.” He said to her, This time he wasn't smirking or smiling. He looked sincere. Lucy swallowed heavily. “How does he know me so well? He even ordered something I like. That is weird,” she thought to herself. She looked around the room, suddenly feeling a bit insecure. Ethan dropped his cutlery on his plate and looked up. “Did I make you uncomfortable?” He asked. “How do you know so much about me?” Lucy asked instead of giving him a reply to his question. He picked up the napkin and wiped off his lips. “I have known you for a while. I know how weird that sounds, but it's true. I have been keeping tabs on you since you were in college.” He replied, maintaining eye contact. Lucy's eyes narrowed. “Since college? That is over 10 years or at least almost.” She replied in shock. “Why? Who are you?” she asked. “That is an interesting question. It is also a valid question. Well, let's start with who I am. I am Ethan, the man you saw on the road bleeding and at the point of death whom you also rushed to a hospital.” He replied. Lucy cocked her head to the side, the confusion evident in her face. “I saved you?” She asked, surprised. He leaned back into his chair and crossed his arms, his eyes twinkling with amusement. “I can see that you do not remember.” Lucy leaned in. “Are you serious about this?” She asked. "I think you got the wrong person, Mr Ethan. Ethan's eyebrow raised. “Do I look like I am not serious? I think you should have been in your second year in college then.” He said. Lucy's eyes scanned him. "You look well put together, so I can't say if you are mentally unstable or not. But it has to be that, or you got the wrong person." Ethan burst into laughter. His voice was not too loud to attract attention to them but enough to have Lucy's eyebrows raised. He took out his phone, and after pressing something on it, he handed it to her. “Here, look at this. It might bring back the memories.” He said to her, Lucy carefully took a phone and looked at it. It was a newspaper article about an accident. In the front picture a lady was holding a stretcher which was carrying a bloody Ethan. She gasped, “Oh my gosh, that's me." She muttered as it finally clicked. "I had forgotten about this. That was you? I didn't even know that this made it to the news.” “Yes. That was me. I am important enough to make it to the news." He said smugly. "And if you hadn't seen me that night and called an ambulance, I would have died. I was really grateful for your act of kindness, so after I got better, I sought you out. I hoped to get an opportunity to pay back the kindness.” He replied. “So all these years you stayed in the shadows and kept yourself updated on my life. Why?” Lucy asked skeptical Ethan cleared her throat. “Don't say it like I am some sort of weirdo. I didn't keep myself updated on your life. What I did was help you from the shadows.” He replied. “Help me?” Lucy asked. “Yes. Not that I am trying to toot my own horn, but I was your first investor when you were starting your law firm.” He leaned back into his chair. Lucy looked at him surprised. “That was you?” Suddenly it was all starting to dawn on her. “It is all starting to make sense. The one who recommended me for contracts and high-profile cases was you.” She pursed her lips. "I always wondered how I managed to land those jobs as a newbie in the law field. None of it made sense to me, and when I couldn't find any answer, I just settled that maybe I was just lucky. But I wasn't; it was you all along?” “It wasn't me. It was your kind heart and hard work that brought you this far. I did nothing other than recommend, and then you proved yourself to them. Don't give me the credit.” He replied nonchalantly and continued eating. Lucy visibly relaxed and started eating. Now that she knows who he is, she is more comfortable. “But why did you appear now? Why did you decide to show yourself now?” She asked. Before he could answer, she noticed someone walking towards their table.THIRD PERSON'S POV “Logan…” Lucy muttered. He walked briskly towards her and grabbed her hand forcefully. “You thought serving me the divorce papers was going to be the end?” He gritted out,Lucy snatched her hand away. The fear was gone and replaced by anger. “You had the guts to come here?” She hissed angrily.“Why wouldn't I come here? Am I supposed to be scared of you?” He asked harshly, glaring at her with hostility…“You should be. After the rubbish you did today, you really shouldn't have come here, and you should be scared!” Lucy yelled.Logan chuckled dryly. “You should be begging me. You should be on your knees begging me not to destroy you or finish your career. You don't seem to know the level of influence I have in your life.” He smirked.Lucy scoffed. “Logan, none of this will change anything. Do whatever you want to do, but I am divorcing you. Sign the papers and bring them to me soon before I decide to drag your broke ass to court.” She whirled around and tried to op
THIRD PERSON'S POV Back in the office, Lucy’s nerves were finally relaxed.Adina dropped a cup of water in front of her. She watched her closely to make sure she was okay.“I am okay now, Adina. You can relax.” Lucy chuckled softly. She drank a little from the water and dropped the cup.“I am glad that you are okay now.” Adina said quietly. “Do you want to tell me what all that was about?” Adina asked after a minute.Lucy pursed her lips and breathed out heavily. “I think it was planned by Logan.” She replied.“Logan? Why would your husband do that to you?” Adina asked, her voice low.“Because I served him divorce papers, and he doesn't want to divorce me.” Lucy replied. She took another mouthful of water and closed her eyes.“But…” Adina hesitated. “I am sorry to be asking all these questions. I just can't wrap my head around it.” She said after a second. “Even if he doesn't want to divorce you, that isn't a good reason for what happened today. Are you sure it's him?” She asked.“Wh
THIRD PERSON'S POV “Hey, Amelia. How are you doing?” Lucy asked as soon as she picked up the call.“I am good. I just wanted to check on you. How are you?” Amelia asked.“I am fine. Taking it one day at a time for now.” Lucy replied.“That’s great. Just hang in there, okay?” Amelia said in a soothing voice. “Has Logan signed the divorce papers yet?” “I haven't heard from him since that night. If he had signed them, he would have brought them to me.” Lucy sighed.“It’s been four days already. Hope he isn't planning anything crazy? Logan is not to be trusted.” She said, her voice laced with worry.“Whatever he is planning, it won't spoil my day today.” Lucy breathed out.“Is something good happening today?” Amelia asked.“There is this case that has been in the public limelight that I have been working on. Judgement will be given today, and I have a good feeling about it. I really hope that my client gets justice.” Lucy replied. “That's really great.” Amelia said sincerely. “I wish y
THIRD PERSON'S POVLucy's heart pounded against her ribs as Logan’s sister stepped into her office. She had an air of authority and respect surrounding her.As she strutted in, Lucy sat motionless.“What is she doing here?”“Did Logan really reach out to his family already?”“Is she here to threaten me?” Several thoughts rushed through Lucy's head as Logan's sister stood in front of her.Clad in expensive attire from head to toe. She reeked of money and intimidation. The black-and-white Balmain tweed mini dress adorned with gold buttons clung to her body like a second skin. She paired the dress with black Louboutin heels and a mini Hermès Kelly bag. Around her wrist was a Cartier Juste un Clou bracelet. Her eyes were concealed by oversized dark Céline shades. Lucy knew these designer wears thanks to Amelia. It was her area of interest, and she wouldn't stop her from talking about them whenever they were together. Her eyes covered by the shades made her come across as even more un
THIRD PERSON'S POVAfter the call, Lucy got dressed and left the house for work. She greeted the security men as she passed. As she entered the reception lobby, she noticed Stella pasting something on the notice board.“Good morning, ma’am,” Stella greeted as she noticed Lucy.“Good morning, Stella. Thank you for coming early to do this,” Lucy said to her.“That's my job as your assistant,” Stella replied and fell into step with her. “I have also informed HR of the dismissal. They will effect it once they get to work this morning.”“HR is going to be busy for the next couple of days, and so will you too,” Lucy said to her.“Why do you say so, ma’am? Did something happen?” Stella asked.“Yes. A couple of people might have to stop working with us. It isn't just Caramel. But hers has to be today,” Lucy replied coldly.“I now understand why you said I will be busy… busy screening the applicants that will fill the empty seats, right?” Stella asked.“Exactly. Also check my schedule with Gra
THIRD PERSON’S POV Nothing could have prepared Lucy for what she heard tonight. In her wildest dreams she wouldn't have ever thought that Logan was actually from a rich home. She was still in shock when she got home. She couldn't believe that Logan was actually from the Sanderson family. She took out her phone and looked at the picture again.“If I had never found out about his affair, would I have ever found out about this?” She thought to herself.“I probably wouldn't have, because he could have kept it a secret forever. I would have continued to live with a liar and a deceiver.” She muttered in disbelief.Throughout the night Lucy had so many thoughts on her mind. So many unanswered questions. “Did Ethan know about this? ...Was this why he kept saying I needed his help to win? ...Should I take Ethan up on his offer? ...“How can I win against the son of the Sanderson family? ...She thought about it over and over again. And at intervals she looked at the email that Ethan sent
