Tony Woods POV
“You heard me right, Mr. Woods. That's exactly what I said. Are you searching for your son and wife?” The Doctor repeated the question. It turned out that my eardrums weren't damaged after all, as I had thought. “Hold on a sec, sir! I want to get this straight. This still doesn't look real to me. I want to ask you a question. Were you aware that your son was rushed inside by your wife?” The Doctor asked me again. He saw the look on my face and knew something was wrong. I wasn't the Tony Woods he has known for decades now. Personally, there was something very awful about me. It was as though someone was seated somewhere controlling my movement with a remote or some sort of. I was too perplexed to speak. Spinning my head around, I caught the Nurse at the reception staring at me. The same nurse who told me that my son, Kelly, wasn't admitted to their hospital I had a thousand reasons to speak, but I also considered how detrimental my confession would be to her Job. Her eyes were reddish and soaked in tears. It was a matter of time before they started dropping from her eyes. “Is there a matter, Mr. Woods?” The Doctor asked as he gave me a tap on the shoulder. He tried to make me speak, but it wasn't working. My attention was divided. How can I concentrate when a lot is going on in my head? “Oh, I get it. The Nurse lied to you, didn't she?” The Doctor assumed. He finally did that which I have avoided. Seeing how inquisitive he had become, I didn't see myself defending the nurse anymore. “Can you please take me to go see my son? That's the only person I care about right now,” I requested. The plan was to get the doctor's attention away from the nurse. Unfortunately, I failed woefully. Like a determined warlock aiming to defeat a thousand army, the Doctor sauntered to the reception to approach the nurse. From a distance, I could hear the turbulent heartbeat of the nurse. Without being told, it was obvious that she would prefer for the ground to swallow her rather than endure the wrath of her Doctor. Where I was, I lost focus. I couldn't stand and fold my arms to see the doctor attend to an irrelevant situation while my son was in the hospital. With my last strength, I rushed to the scene to avert what could have been a massacre. “Please forget her and take me to go see my son. That's the only thing I am bothered about,” I pleaded with the Doctor, and he ignored me. It turns out that my advice fell on deaf ears. He pretended as though my existence never mattered to him. It was the first time I'd witnessed him in such a rage. “No, I disagree. I want to know why she lied to you about your son. Do you have any idea how silly that was?” The Doctor complained to me. He disregarded the people around him and yelled at the nurse, forcing her to speak. "His wife did,” the nurse finally confessed. She appears to be shaking like an earthworm that was sprinkled with salt. “Hold on a second. Are you referring to me?” I raised my arm to ask. It took a while for my brain to return to action. “Yes, sir. She paid me not to say a word to you,” the nurse added. To completely buttress her point, she brought out the money from her left breast pocket and flaunted it across our faces. I gulped my saliva after opening my mouth for a couple of minutes. I rested both hands on my waistline and shook my head in pity. I felt this sudden hotness inside of me and the next minute, I was already drenched in my pool of sweat. What else can I say? Here I was thinking that the nurse acted alone. I had no idea that it had to do with a familiar enemy. “I am sorry, Mr. Woods. I had no idea it was going to turn out this way,” The Doctor apologized “Please take me to my son,” I requested and moved a step forward without even looking at the Doctor. I was hurt inside of me, but from the outside, I seemed like a cool cat. Different thoughts plagued my soul. If executed, I may likely spend the rest of my life in jail without a pardon. “It's over for you. You're laid off! I don't wanna return and see your ugly face.” I heard the Doctor's voice from a distance. “That serves her right,” I groaned After listening to her full confession, I felt no remorse for her. If there were other worse punishments she would get aside from getting fired, I would have gladly welcomed that. “She's gone now. You ain't got nothing to worry about. Now let's go see your son,” the Doctor disclosed as he led the way to my son's ward. “Stale news! Who cares anyway? I don't give a damn if she was arrested. She fucking got what she deserved,” I kept on muttering en route to my son's ward. Upon arriving at the hospital, I saw Angela seated next to Kelly on the bed. The moment I saw her, my countenance changed. My hatred for her became unbreakable. If I had the license to own a gun, she would have been my first victim. “What are you doing here? And how did you find us? I can't recall disclosing the address to you,” with shivering lips, she questioned me. I didn't respond. I looked behind me trying to see who she was referring to, but I found no one. I expected her to feel a bit of remorse for what she did, but none of that happened. That was the height of cruelty. If there was a contest for the new devil in hell, Angela would have emerged as the champion with a large margin! When she wanted to display her cruelty, the devil sat down to watch!Tony Woods POV“Are you sure you are ready for this moment, Mr. Woods? I want you to take your time and reflect on it before coming up with a decision. What I'm about to disclose might sound partially devastating and heartbreaking to you. And I am sure you wouldn't want that for yourself. Remember your health status. I don't want to be the one to escalate your blood pressure,” The doctor retreated just when he was on the verge of disclosing my son's test results. It wasn't a question I found quite intriguing. But somehow, I was able to control my rage. “Really? Are we going to do this all day? Come on, Doctor. I am not interested in any of your jokes. Just hit the nail on the head. Doctor, if I weren't ready, I wouldn't be here. As we speak, I am involved in an ongoing police investigation,” I revealed. What Ignorance! If only he knew what I've been through in the last 48 hours. “Oh, shit. What did I just do?” I spoke in a low tone. I got carried away by my emotions. It t
Tony Woods POV “ I thought I emphasized that I didn't want to see him. This wasn't our agreement,” Angela abandoned me to confront the innocent Doctor who was only trying to help. I got the answer I needed without speaking to Angela directly. Here I was, thinking that she might want to lie. But no, she owned up to her shit with her full chest and made me look like the stupid one. “I had no choice, Mrs. Woods. For crying out loud, you're his wife. I couldn't fold my arms and watch him in pain. He deserves to see his son,” the doctor explained. I was starting to feel pity for him. At that point, it became clear to me what was going on. All along, my brain was undergoing some maintenance due to what it had processed in the last few minutes. “Wait a minute, doctor. Did she also tell you not to let me see my son? What else did she tell you?” I focused my gaze on the doctor. I had a feeling that there was more to discuss. “Mr. Woods, I need to leave now. Other patients a

Toon Woods POVBefore I could stand up from the bed, my domestic staff was already inside my room, crying her eyes out. “What's the problem, Maggie?” I asked. While I asked her the question, numerous negative thoughts invaded my mind. I tried so hard not to believe them, even though I knew it was obvious. Rather, I decided to listen to what my staff had to say. “It's Kelly,” she briefly said. It wasn't the response I had anticipated. Her response to my question further increased my blood pressure. Maggie's utterances kept me in suspense, which didn't sit well with me. I didn't know when I yelled at Maggie, warning her to speak up and stop playing games with me. “This is your last chance to spill it, Maggie. The next time won't be funny,” I warned Maggie. “Kelly was rushed to the hospital after he collapsed in the living room this morning,” Maggie finally spilled. “What?”I screamed my lungs out and died a thousand times. I thought it was a joke until Maggie confirmed that
Tony Woods's POV"Introduce you to whom? Who the heck are you talking about? You need to have your head examined because it's obvious that you've lost it. When, lady, did you have your medication?' I yelled at Angela with the last strength inside of me. It wasn't my intention to yell at her in such a manner, but she pushed me to the wall, and I had no choice. “Oh? You are going to pretend like you don't know what I'm talking about? You try to play smart but unfortunately, you aren't,” Angela retaliated. I thought yelling at her was going to scare her a bit, but I was wrong. I didn't know where she got the strength from. I was lost, yet stunned by how Angela managed to pull up that defense mechanism. Coming from someone who has so many dirty secrets. If there's anyone who is entitled to be upset, clearly it should be me.Quietly, I sauntered to the wardrobe and selected my pajamas. Right in her presence, I wore it and grabbed my pillow. “Where the heck are you heading to r
Tony Woods's POV “Oh, no. Not again. What does this bitch want from me once more?” I hissed. I felt like smashing my phone to the ground, but I considered the important information I may lose should I attempt to do that. A thousand times she called, and not for once, did I respond. I dropped the phone on my lap and left the company's premises. I didn't know where the strength came from because a while ago, I had nothing left inside of me. I was already making plans to book an appointment with my doctor to have my body fully examined. A few miles away from my estate, my phone beeped. Unlike the previous time, it was a notification. I picked up the phone to check the notification only to see a text from Angela which says, “Your son is worried about you. Where have you been? He has been asking to see you,” Immediately, I pulled over. I didn't know when I started weeping like a toddler. It dawned on me that Kelly would feel most of the pain now. My hate towards the poor kid
