The noblemen were all wondering why Roberto had called on this meeting earlier than they had planned.

I walked inside with a file in my hand all of a sudden and greeted everyone seated briefly with a slight bow of my head, then walked towards the secretary's seat.

When the mayor of the city saw me—that was my father—he frowned and wondered what I was doing here. He was even angrier because I greeted him casually, as if I didn’t know him.

Just when I was about to sit, my father, Daniel, spoke. “Are you the secretary?”

I smiled. “Yes, Mayor. I am the secretary to Mr. Roberto Alessandro.”

Everyone in the city knew that Maya was the secretary to Roberto . They were all surprised to find out that it was an unknown woman who was now Roberto's secretary. Not many people knew me, even though I was the daughter of the mayor. I left home before my father could identify himself with me before the world. Everyone only knows Patricia, his mistress's daughter, as his daughter.
