Anesthesia’s POV

At twenty, I had everything looks, money, and a reputation strong enough to make people step aside the moment I entered a room. Being the daughter of one of the country’s wealthiest men meant no one dared to cross me. Yet behind the flawless makeup and the luxury, there was a quiet ache of loneliness I could never drink away.

“Street Mash-Up” was the only place that felt like freedom. The bass, the lights, the haze of perfume and wine — it drowned out the noise in my head. Tonight was no different. I laughed too loudly, danced until my feet ached, and emptied one glass after another until the world began to tilt.

When it was time to leave, I knew I couldn’t let my driver or my mother see me like this. I ordered a ride from the app, slipped out the side door, and stepped into the cold night air.

The car description on my screen blurred: GWM Voleex C3.

“Right,” I muttered, squinting through the drizzle. My gaze drifted to a sleek black vehicle parked near the curb GWM Tank 700. Close enough. Luxurious. Even better.

I pulled the door open and slid into the back seat.

“Hi,” I said, trying to sound sober. “Take me to Los Lira Hotel.”

The driver didn’t respond. I frowned and leaned forward to tap his shoulder. When he turned, the air inside the car shifted instantly.

He wasn’t a middle-aged cabbie.

He was… magnetic.

A sharp jawline, perfectly styled brown hair, eyes the color of warm whiskey — and a presence so intense it made silence feel dangerous.

“Did you hear me?” I asked, breathless without meaning to be.

His gaze met mine through the mirror.

“Los Lira Hotel,” he repeated, deep and unhurried. The car began to move.

For a moment, I forgot how to breathe. The city lights slid across his face, highlighting the line of his throat beneath that black tuxedo. He didn’t look like someone who waited for orders.

He looked like someone who gave them.

I tried to look away. Failed.

He caught me staring and asked softly, “Is there something on my face, young lady?”

Heat crept up my neck. “No. I just thought you looked… familiar.”

He smiled slightly, like he already knew exactly what I meant. The air between us grew heavier.

“Do you often get into cars that aren’t yours?” he murmured.

“Only when the driver looks like you,” I shot back, surprising even myself.

His low chuckle rolled through the car like velvet against skin.

By the time we reached the hotel, the rain had stopped, but the storm inside me hadn’t. The car idled in the shadows of the parking lot. He turned slightly, his eyes dark and unreadable.

“Are you sure this is where you want to be?”

Maybe it was the wine.

Maybe it was the way his voice grazed over my nerves like silk.

I leaned forward until our faces were inches apart.

“I’m sure.”

Before I could say another word, he leaned in his breath warm against my neck — and bit gently at my left ear, the most sensitive part of me. A shiver shot through me. Heat coiled low in my stomach.

His hands slid under my dress, slow but deliberate, tracing every inch of my skin like he already knew my body better than I did.

“Do you like that?” he whispered against my throat, leaving a soft kiss there.

I couldn’t control myself anymore. I grabbed him and began unbuttoning his shirt, needing to feel the hard lines of his chest beneath my hands.

“You’re quite a wild cat,” he murmured with a mocking chuckle.

“Yes, I am. Now kiss me. You’ve driven me insane.”

And then he was in the back with me.

I pulled him closer, tasting his lips, kissing him like I’d been starving for this. In the dim hotel lighting filtering through the windows, I saw him unfasten his shirt with swift, unbothered movements.

The rest blurred into heat and instinct.

He moved with a mix of control and hunger, pushing me back gently but firmly, his lips trailing down my neck until my breath trembled.

He didn’t rush but he didn’t hesitate either.

Everything he did was deliberate, confident, devastatingly skilled.

I had no idea who he was, but he knew exactly what he was doing.

The world outside the car dissolved.

Only the heat, the closeness, the rhythm of his breath and mine remained.

I didn’t know when exhaustion finally pulled me under. All I remembered was falling asleep against him, tangled together in the most uncomfortable, reckless way — but it felt perfect.

Next Morning

Sunlight warmed my face. I frowned and rubbed my eyes, still half-asleep. Turning to the side, I came face-to-face with someone impossibly handsome.

My breath hitched.

God… am I dreaming? Did some angel fall asleep beside me?

I pinched myself.

“Ouch!”

Not a dream.

I bolted upright, staring at the unfamiliar man beside me — bare-chested, toned, and breathtaking in a way that made my stomach twist.

Someone could be this handsome? Impossible.

I’d met countless attractive men — none had ever seduced me to bed. But this man?

He had me begging for more.

Pressing a hand to my forehead, last night flooded back in fragments.

The car.

His mouth.

His hands.

My name on his lips.

His speed, his strength, his impossible skill—

I slept with a man in the backseat of a car.

A man who wasn’t even my driver.

A man who looked like danger wrapped in silk.

Worst of all?

He wasn’t only handsome…

He was good in bed.

Too good.

And I didn’t even know his name.

Ana’s POV3:00 a.m.“Oh? Are we finally leaving?” I chuckled, leaning forward to peck Japhet lightly on the lips. The moment he spoke to me in that soft, affectionate tone earlier, my jealousy had dissolved.I could take revenge later. No need to ruin tonight. That was my plan. Until Erick and Luna followed us. “Brother, we’re heading to the company, right?” Erick asked casually.“Yes,” Japhet replied. “By the time we reach, it’ll already be working hours.” I noticed the faint exhaustion on Japhet’s face, though he tried to hide it.But what confused me was Luna. Why was she coming along? Did she have business with them? Or, Was it something deeper? After all, she knew about their mafia identities. That wasn’t ordinary information.During the drive, the three of them discussed broadcasting companies across America. Market shares. Distribution rights. Media acquisitions.I sat quietly beside Japhet. Invisible. It wasn’t that I didn’t understand business—I did.But they didn’t ask my op

Ana’s POV“I love you. And that’s all that should matter to you,” Japhet said softly, his eyes holding mine with unwavering sincerity. “I will never bring up your past. I will never humiliate you because of it. You have my word.”His voice wasn’t cold. It wasn’t commanding. It was gentle. And honest. My tears shifted from fear to warmth. In that moment, I truly felt like the luckiest woman alive. The man feared across the underworld… the man whose name alone could silence a room… was standing in front of me, speaking softly as if I were made of glass. His slight stutter when he explained himself so I wouldn’t misunderstand him. The way his brows furrowed in worry. The dedication in his tone.It made butterflies erupt inside me.And suddenly—I wanted to tease him. I intertwined my fingers with his, leaning my head against his shoulder.“I understand,” I whispered. “Stop overthinking. But today… I want to tell you everything I’ve been hiding.”He stiffened slightly. “I have secrets to

Japhet’s POVFinally, my name was called.I had been waiting for it—impatiently. Not for the award. For her reaction.I adjusted my coat, ran my fingers through my hair, and walked onto the stage with steady steps. The applause echoed across the hall, but my attention was fixed on only one person.Ana.She was sitting in the front row exactly where I had arranged. Alone. Like a queen. But her brows were slightly furrowed. She didn’t look pleased.I had assumed she would enjoy the exclusivity, the untouchable aura, the silent message to every man present that she was unreachable. Mine.Seems like my plan to make her feel special backfired. The host’s voice boomed beside me.“Mr. Japhet Lukers is awarded Best CEO of the Year. His exceptional leadership has maintained remarkable stock performance, contributing significantly to national economic development. He has also generously donated to monasteries supporting orphaned children.”He handed me the sterling golden globe statue.I cleare

Ana’s POVFuck, his shameless comment made my knees weak, and I could feel my cheeks heating up like fire. I couldn’t help but blush, despite trying to keep my composure. Japhet always had a way of getting under my skin—annoying, infuriating, and yet somehow intoxicating.I glanced at the clock: 11:00 pm. My stomach did a little flip. “Japhet, we should probably get cleaned up,” I suggested, trying to regain some sense of normalcy. He raised an eyebrow but didn’t argue. “Sure, wifey. Lead the way.”We took our time in his office washroom, quietly cleaning up, splashing water on our faces, wiping away the traces of sweat and fatigue. For once, there was no rush, no pressing business, just a rare intimacy between us. Japhet slipped into his sweatpants and shirt, adding his oversized hoodie to fight off the chill in the office.I opened his closet to see if he had anything I could wear, and of course—no women’s clothes in sight. Smirking, I grabbed one of his sweatpants, his shirt, and h

Ana’s POV“Is this what you’ve got to say?” Japhet asked, his voice sharp with irritation and underlying tension. He continued, each word loaded with possessive scrutiny, “Where are you, and who are you with? Alexia said you were invited to a birthday party by an online friend. What’s his username? I’ll look into his biography myself.”His words made my chest tighten, the suffocating weight of his overbearing care settling on me like a physical force. I felt my pulse spike—not with fear, but with a mix of defiance and excitement. I couldn’t resist. Slowly, deliberately, I grabbed Victor by his shirt collar and pulled him close. My lips met his in a kiss that I made audible, teasing, and defiant—all so Japhet could hear it through the phone.Just as I had expected, Japhet’s voice exploded through the speaker. “Who the fuck did you just kiss? Ana doesn’t play with me! I swear, I’ll make sure to kill whoever you just kissed. Stay right there—I’m coming!”A laugh escaped me, loud and vict

Next day…I arrived at the office as usual, but today I was escorted by Erick since Japhet had left early. The moment I walked in, I felt the curious stares of Alexia and several other female employees burning into my back. Their eyes made me uncomfortable, but I kept my head high and continued walking.Just then, Erick’s voice called out. I turned to see him running toward me, my purse in hand, slightly out of breath.“My beautiful sister-in-law, you forgot your purse,” he said, his tone playfully flirtatious, cheeks flushed from running. His childish antics made me chuckle. I gently patted his back and said, “Take a deep breath before you try talking so fast.” I took the purse from him, smoothing my expression into a professional mask, and headed toward the elevator.“Wait! I’ll come with you. I’m curious to see your office,” Erick added, following me into the elevator. The ride was filled with light conversation—movies, his new shooting schedule, and a few teasing remarks about my
