Lake’s back was pressed to the sink, arms tense, trying not to react. Max stood just inches away, eyes steady—too steady.

“Make me,” Max had said.

Lake scoffed under his breath, trying to move past him. “This again? Is this a game to you?”

Max stepped in his way, blocking him.

“I’m serious,” Max said, voice lower now. “You can’t keep pushing me out, then acting like it doesn’t affect you when I show up with someone else.”

Lake looked at him, finally. “You brought her here just to mess with me?”

“She’s a friend,” Max said. “But I didn’t stop her from clinging to me, no. Because I wanted to see if you’d care.”

Lake let out a sharp breath, almost a laugh. “You’re unbelievable.”

“And you’re lying to yourself,” Max shot back.

Lake’s eyes narrowed. “You don’t know me well enough to say that.”

“I know how you look at me when you think I’m not watching. I know the way your jaw clenches when someone touches me.”

“Lake,” Leo burst into the dressing room, face flushed and eyes wild. “Dude—I told you this shit would get me in trouble.”Lake looked up from adjusting his shirt. “What now?”Leo pointed down at his pants. “I’m getting a freaking hard-on, man.”Lake recoiled. “Why are you pointing that at me? What do you want me to do about it?”“I’m panicking!” Leo groaned, pacing. “This fabric is thin, the lights are hot, and I’ve got thirty seconds before someone yanks me onto the runway.”Lake raised a brow. “So your solution was to run in here and flash me?”“I didn’t flash you, I pointed!” Leo snapped, then caught himself. “God, that sounds worse.”Lake turned away. “Bro, seriously. Just go deal with it before someone walks in and thinks I’m your fluffer or something.”Leo groaned and banged his head lightly against the wall. “This isn’t funny.”“It kinda is,” Lake muttered, fighting a smirk. “Go splash some cold water on your face. Or think about taxes.”Leo threw him a look. “You’re useless.”

“Damn, hanging out with you is actually fun,” Lake said with a grin as they stepped out of the park, the fading sunset casting soft light across the pavement. “We should do this again sometime.”Monica let out a soft chuckle, shaking her head. “It’s not fun hanging out with you. And no, I don’t think I want to do this again.”Lake raised a brow. “Liar. You were literally screaming your lungs out on that ride.”“I was not!” she protested, but she couldn’t stop the laughter that bubbled out of her.He smirked. “Okay, fine. I won’t argue with a lady. I value my life.”Monica rolled her eyes, still smiling. “So… are you okay now?”Lake’s smile softened. He gave a small nod. “Yeah. I think so.”She studied his face for a moment, her own smile fading into something gentler.“What about you?” Lake asked, more carefully this time. “Are you okay?”There was a pause. Monica looked down at her hands, fingers tightening slightly before she shrugged.“Honestly… I don’t know if I am.”Lake didn’t p

  • Seducing My Ex-husband's Brother    Confrontation

Spencer strode into the hospital lobby like a storm in tailored clothing. His eyes cut past the sterile reception and fixed on the nurse, who gave a stiff nod without needing to ask. “VIP Room 45. End of the hall.” He didn’t thank her. The hallway smelled like antiseptic and death denial. He hadn’t stepped foot here in weeks—not since the accident. Not since the bitter taste of betrayal lodged itself in his throat like glass. Liam. His father’s prized son. A son who wasn’t even his. He hated being here. Room 45 hummed with the low beep of machines. His father sat propped against the pillows, wires webbing his chest, a tablet balanced on his lap like even now, dying was an inconvenience. The old man looked up, eyes sharp despite the pallor. “Finally. Thought you were waiting for the funeral invite.” “You’re still breathing,” Spencer said, dragging the metal chair across the floor with a screech that matched his mood. His father didn’t smile. “You made the news.” Spencer didn’t

Spencer sat at the bar, drink in hand. He stared ahead, silent. The ice clinked as he swirled the glass. The bartender glanced over. “Another?”Spencer nodded. The news was playing on the TV. No sound, just footage.Monica. The slap. Her hand hit his face in slow motion. Over and over. His jaw clenched as he watched.A guy down the bar laughed. “Damn, she really went for it.Spencer didn’t look at him.The bartender set another glass in front of him.Spencer picked it up. Drank. No hesitation. His phone buzzed on the counter. Diane.Diane: Handled most of it. Don’t worry about Moni5. She’ll be fine. You’re fine. Keep your head down tonight. The board's calming down.He didn’t respond.Another message came through.Diane: I told Monica you had it under control. He locked the screen and shoved the phone into his coat pocket. The bar got louder. More people were recognizing him. No one approached yet, but eyes followed him.He finished the second drink. Ordered a third.Spencer didn’t

Monica let the silence stretch for a second too long. Her heart beat like it had a ticking clock strapped to it, each second a countdown to another headline.“I can’t lie,” she said finally, her voice low. “Not about this.”She couldn't afford to hurt Spencer. Her heart clenched at the thought of it.Harry pinched the bridge of his nose. “Then we spin. Say it was personal. Say it’s old history. Say you were defending yourself from a man who disrespected you. That always plays.”Her stomach turned. “That’s not what happened. I can't do that to Spencer. That's wrong Harry and you know it.”Harry raked his fingers through his hair, "I know it, Monica but it's your career on the line.""And."“But they don’t need the truth. They need something good.”"So destroying someone else's reputation is good."She turned toward the window. Rain streaked down the glass like falling ash. The city below kept moving, loud and fast. It was just one slap and now, she couldn't breathe.Harry’s voice softe
