MasukSilence.
A deep, dead silence spread between us after he ordered every single person to leave the meeting room. I flinched internally when I heard the loud click of the door lock, leaving the two of us completely alone. I wanted exactly this. Right? Then why was my stupid heart racing so fast? Why were my breaths suddenly so shallow and hot? For a good two minutes, he remained unmoved in his spot, but his eyes slid down my body, slowly and dangerously, taking in every inch, assessing the changes. My eyes too were on his face, which had not, too, become as hard as a stone. I could see a deep wound running across his left eyebrow, which looked old but not too old for me to be familiar with. Seven years had made him broader, colder, and terrifyingly handsome. Just like me, everything about him had changed. On the outside. Slowly and deliberately, he pushed his chair back and stood up. He took small, calculated steps toward me while I stayed rooted in my place. No words were spoken between us. Only stares and observations. His dark eyes locked onto mine, burning with hatred and unspent rage. He stopped just an arm's length away. No matter how hard I tried, memories from seven years ago came rushing back like an open dam. I clenched my fists at my sides, refusing to let my past affect my present. Before I could even blink, his rough fingers wrapped around my throat and slammed me backward against the mahogany table. The blow knocked the oxygen out of my lungs, and the cold, metallic barrel of his gun pressed hard against my temple. I swallowed down a cough, refusing to give him the satisfaction of seeing me flinch. "You have exactly five seconds to give me a reason not to put a bullet through your head right here," he said in a low and gravelly rasp. We were so close that I could feel his chest vibrating against mine with every word he spoke. "Oops..." A sharp smirk touched my lips as I flashed him my pearly white teeth. "What a loving way to greet your wife after seven years." "You are not my wife," he growled into my face. His voice was so thick and rough that for a moment, I couldn't believe this was the same man from my past. "You sure?" I challenged him. His jaw clenched, and his hold around the gun became tighter. He wrapped his finger around the trigger and, with his other hand, squeezed my throat even tighter, making it hard for me to breathe. He wanted to scare me, to break me so I could go back to where I came from. My hand reached out for the gun, my fingers wrapped around its barrel, only to drag it down my throat, past my collarbone, and press it hard against the left side of my chest. "Aim here, Dante," I whispered, leaning up until our lips were inches apart. "You used to say this was your favorite spot. Remember?" For a heartbeat, we stayed frozen in place. We didn't move, we didn't breathe, hell, we didn't even blink. Just stared into each other's eyes, trying to kill with a mere gaze because weapons could never do that. "Ain't you satisfied ruining me already?" A muscle in his jaw twitched, and for a fraction of a second, the iron grip on his gun faltered. His breath hitched, hot and ragged against my skin. "What else do you want?" "You got what you deserved, Dante," I purred. I grabbed his collar and pulled him down until our lips were barely an inch apart. "And what I want is for my Mafia husband to take me home and put his ring back where it belongs." His breath quickened when I wrapped my legs around his torso and bit my lower lip. The heat radiated from his body penetrated mine. For a second, his hold on the falters and his other hand slipped from my neck down to my waist to wrap around it and crush me against him so hard I couldn't tell where my heartbeat ended, and his began. My own breath went shallow as I was tempted by how his rough hand scraped against my smooth, bare back. Our breaths mingled when he moved his face an inch closer. Our noses brushed, and just when I thought our lips were about to meet, he pushed me away. A soft gasp of surprise escaped my throat as the sudden force sent me stumbling back against the edge of the mahogany table. "Dream on, Clara, because you lost every right to me the night you left me to rot," he spat venomously. "And the marriage... It was nothing more than a childish play. Not even a single soul knows we were ever married. It automatically makes it invalid" My blood boiled so hot with humiliation that I was tempted to pull out my thigh dagger and plunge it directly into his heart. "You can try every pathetic little trick in your power," he warned, leaning down into my space, "but you will never get what you want." He pulled out a black metal lighter from his pocket and snapped it open to light up the cigarette. The flame illuminated the pitch-black rage in his eyes. "Now get out of my sight." He blew the thick smoke directly in my face, assuring me again that my Dante had died a long time ago.Papers scattered everywhere, pens rolling onto the floor as the wood groaned under my weight. He leaned over me with his broad and heavy frame, pinning me to the hard wood. His dark eyes burned with dangerous desire. His chest heaved against mine as his grip on my throat kept me locked in place. "What do you think you were doing, huh?" He pressed his thumb on the nerve of my throat, leaving me gasping for air. "How dare you walk into my study without my permission and touch me like a whore under my own table?""Why?" With his palm wrapped around my throat like a snake, the words came out just as a whisper: "Did you lose your self-control? Mr. Hus..." Before I could complete myself, he flipped me on my stomach in one brutal flip and dragged my hips to the very edge of the table. My hands flew to hold the edge as my head went disoriented for a moment. He rolled the T-shirt up to my hips and kicked my legs wide apart. When I tried to reach back, he held both of my wrists in one of h
One hour after Dante left, five people arrived with clothes and a cupboard and set them up properly in the room. There were all kinds of dresses, from short to full, and I was actually surprised to find the undergarments in my size. I didn't expect Dante to scan me so perfectly. Hehe. I have spent the entire day on stolen green apples, grapes, and lukewarm water because Dante has given strict orders to his staff not to treat me as anything more than a prisoner. His staff didn't let me even set foot in the kitchen to make something for myself. Puff. But I am not here to complain or sit idle like a pretty prisoner. I have very limited days before Dante swears in as a Mafia King. I need to end his dirty games before it even begins and get out of this place as soon as possible. I miss him so badly. My train of thought broke when I heard murmurs. Barefoot and silent, I hid myself behind a wall and saw a few high-ranking syndicate capos walking inside the study.I immediately hid mys
I woke up to the harsh sunlight disturbing my sleep. I yawned and stretched my body, expecting my husband to be sleeping beside me, but all I felt was coldness. Slowly, I opened my eyes to find the other side of my bed empty. My gaze flicked to the clock. 8:00 AMAfter he left, I drifted into a deep sleep. I wasn't sure if he even returned last night. Maybe he was hanging upside down like a bat, plotting his next move against me; who knows? I yawned again and kicked off the sheets from my body. I was definitely not here only to sleep. "Fuck"A low groan passed my lips as soon as I sat up, reminding me of last night's little artistic session with my husband. My hands tried to reach out where it stung, but I couldn't. Arrogant bastard.I glanced down at myself and realised that I was still wearing that ruined, half-unzipped black velvet dress from last night, which was torn in places. And now I have nothing to wear. Thanks to Mr. Husband. Sigh. Suddenly my eyes caught the sight
"I am claiming my wife."He roared in my face. "Isn't that what you wanted" His red, wrathful eyes moved between mine. He was completely out of his senses. First, because I won him over, and second, because another man touched me, I remember how possessive he used to be, and that hasn't changed a bit. His eyes slowly moved down my lips, bringing his face incredibly close to mine. I closed my eyes, assuming he was going to plant his lips over mine. My heart started hammering in my chest with anticipation. It's been ages since I felt his full mouth against mine. But my eyes shot open, and a loud gasp escaped my mouth when suddenly his hand holding my jaw moved up to my lips. "These beautiful petals," he said bitterly, looking down at them. "How much I used to adore them." The pad of his thumb ran over my lower lip. "And they became the reason for my sufferings" "Ahhh," I gasped out in pain when suddenly he crushed my lips between his fingers. "Tell me... Tell me, Senorita, why
My head collided with the cantrail when I was thrown into the front seat like a sack of garbage. Before I could even adjust my dress or sit up properly, the driver's door slammed shut, and the Rolls-Royce roared to life. Dante slammed his foot on the accelerator and the car shot forward with such violent speed that my head snapped back against the leather seat.I held my breath along with my tongue. I wasn't ready to die tonight. Right now, he looked like an incarnation of the devil himself. His jaw was clenched so tight that the scar over his left eyebrow looked almost bone-white under the dashboard lights. His dark eyes were pitch black and fixed entirely on the winding, empty road ahead.Suddenly, he twisted the volume knob of the car's sound system to its fullest, and heavy, aggressive rock music blasted through the speakers. It was so painfully loud that the entire frame of the car began to vibrate, and I was afraid I might become deaf. But it wasn't the first time I had seen
I chugged the entire glass of wine in one go, trying to gulp down the humiliation with it, but it still burnt my skin.My hold on the glass tightened so much that I was afraid I might shatter it in my bare hand.I knew it wasn't going to be easy to manipulate Dante. I couldn't just walk into the lion's den and make him do whatever I wanted, but I hated the way he had thrown me away..As if I meant nothing to him.I swallowed down another drink.Of course I don't mean anything to him. And the feeling is mutual!I was trying to calm my nerves when a sudden hustle and bustle broke out among the paparazzi. All of them rushed toward the man who walked into the party as if he owned the world.Dante Salvatore. And this time, he wasn't alone. A tall blonde woman in a skintight emerald dress was clinging to his arm. She was Lara, the only daughter of an influential arms dealer. But no matter who was wrapped around his arm, Dante’s dark, deadly eyes were locked directly on me."You look far too
